The dragon's harem
Chapter 2314: Arad’s Hibernation XXVI
[Elemental Expansion: Blood Sea]
The entire room shook as Akasha started the fight with her Elemental Expansion without a moment of hesitation, and the ghosts had to take a second to process what had just happened and react.
The three banshees just stared silently at her, while the death will was the first one to attack, flying through the ground and emerging out of the blood sea, aiming directly at Akasha’s chest. In his hand, he held a ghostly pale blue knife, and was moving faster than the vampire nuns could even see.
But it was then that Akasha’s eyes moved, and she was even faster than him as her entire body moved to the side as if floating in the blink of an eye, and her hand grabbed him by the wrist. How could she touch a ghost? Only she knew how.
She twisted the death will’s wrist and threw him aside, sending a wave of blood needles toward him as she turned into a swarm of bats and flooded toward the three banshees, reaching them in a fraction of a second.
The three were about to scream, but before they could do that, Akasha had already shoved her boots down the throat of one of them, ripped the second’s entire throat out, and drowned the last one in the sea of blood.
The three weren’t dead, but that attack had disabled them for the next few seconds, allowing Akasha to deal with the rest without having to worry about those three yelling at her.
The two wisps were already flying around her at blinding speed, charging two massive spells. One of them conjured lightning, and the other conjured flames. The two spells were equal to or more powerful than seventh-tier magic, and they should’ve easily obliterated this entire room, but for some reason, the spells shattered before they could be cast, and Akasha immediately stopped one of the whips to the Blood Sea and smiled.
Inside her body, the shadow orb rushed through her intestines and soon reached her heart in seconds, trying to finish her off with a single hit. But what he saw was something unexpected. Akasha’s heart had an eye on it, and that eye glared right back at the shadow orb as if smirking; in the next second, all of the veins in her organs came to life like snakes and started swinging at him.
He tried his best to dodge, but the number of veins rushing at him was in the hundreds, and all of them moved at such speed and precision that he was forced to leave Akasha’s body and jump outside, where he found himself right in front of her blazing fist.
She punched the shadow orb in the face, grabbed him by the hair, and swung him around before kicking him to the ceiling with enough force to cause a massive shockwave. None of those ghosts were anywhere near the level of the vampire princess, even if she had lost all of her divine power.
But at the moment, the three banshees had returned, and they surrounded Akasha, all of them screaming at the same time. Hearing a banshee’s scream was instant death for anyone. Some might argue that Akasha could tank it, but she wasn’t going to even allow that test to happen; she was going to flex on them, and she did just that.
Running backward faster than sound, Akasha easily dodged their voice and reflected it back at them with a clap that shook the entire temple. And right behind that shockwave, she was ready to rip their ghostly bodies apart with her bare hands.
From outside the room, Ginger and the rest watched in horror as Akasha easily bullied the ghosts, throwing them left and right like toys as she easily dodged and reflected their attacks.
While everyone just watched in shock, Ginger was racking her head up, trying to figure out why could Akasha touch and attack ghosts with her physical body, and why she looks so relaxed while fighting them, as if this is nothing more than a simple exercise for her.
The answer to those questions was so complicated that Ginger could only piece together a fragment of it using her limited knowledge, and what she concluded was that somehow, Akasha either has authority over the souls of the dead, or that she is using some kind of magic trick.
For why Akasha looked so relaxed, the answer to that was quite simple. She is a former Blood Lord who extensive combat experience and a lot of power, and had probably fought all of those kinds of ghosts before enough that she got bored of them.
But there was a second stage to it, the part Ginger was almost certain of. Even if Akasha was secondary to Eris and Zia, secondary to everyone else, she did spend most of her time swimming in Arad and Eris’s blood, bathing in their power. From what she heard from the nuns and paladins here, Arad was basically free to do whatever he wanted. He could walk to any random vampire nun or paladin, even the mortal maids in the Private Quarter and suck their blood if he wanted, but in reality, he almost exclusively drank Eris, Zia, and Akasha’s blood.
Ginger asked the nuns again, and they confirmed that those three get the most time with Arad. So Akasha, even though she lost her power, would still get much more from Arad. It was questionable whether she was as powerful as before, stronger or weaker, but the nuns were at least certain that she lacked the authority of a Blood Lord.
It was then that one of the paladins added something that made Ginger’s ears twitch and her eyes widen. The paladin told them that she had once overheard Akasha explaining to Eris how to raise the dead with her blood.
Akasha wasn’t just a vampire; she had learned the arts of the Undeath from her mother, Akame, and her power far surpasses that of regular vampires or necromancers.
It was at that moment of realization that Akasha finally let it all out. The ground had been submerged in her blood for a while now, and that blood had seeped down to the corpses below.
A second later, bloodied arms burst out of the ground, grabbing the ghosts one by one and dragging them down as the dead started rising, marred in blood.
It was a march, a tide of flesh and corpses that burst out of the ground like a geyser of blood, and soon the nine ghosts were drowning in the corpses. Akasha herself stood in the back and watched the resurrected blood zombies do her bidding.
There was one easy way to be able to damage a ghost, and that was being in direct contact with the ghost’s corpse. Akasha didn’t expand her elemental expansion right at the start just for fun, but because she needed her blood to reach all of the corpses beneath the ground so she could touch the ghosts.
But then, the accursed spirit lifted her hands and glared right at Akasha with glowing blue eyes.
