The Demon with Holy Radiance
Chapter 743 - 397: Immortal Pill
He was finally certain why the Celestial Dao had allowed Pan Yu to devour the Mountain and River Order without intervening.
The Celestial Dao knew everything. To it, Pan Yu’s arrival wasn’t just a crisis, but an opportunity.
Those in control of the Mountain and River Order who had been tainted by the corrupting qi needed to be purged. This corrupting qi that had already seeped into Earth was the true source, and it needed to be purged even more urgently.
If even a minor City God could possess a so-called Immortal Pill laced with corrupting qi, then the Immortal Mansion that granted such pills was likely rotten to the core.
When you see one cockroach, it means the house is already teeming with them.
Without any hesitation, Yang An chose Purification.
From the tainted mass of Spirit Charm, a trace of blood-red energy was visibly drawn out. But after separating from the Spirit Charm, it vanished without a trace. Soon, the corrupting qi within disappeared, and the Spirit Charm returned to its pure, pristine white.
Back in the Origin Realm, which was saturated with corrupting qi, Yang An could never clearly perceive the Purification process. It hadn’t mattered to him then.
But now, with only a single, distinct trace of corrupting qi to contrast against the purity, he finally saw how his special ability actually worked.
From the moment he’d suspected his ability might have been granted by Earth’s Celestial Dao, everything had begun to make sense.
He didn’t know where the corrupting qi went, but the power of Purification itself was undoubtedly connected to the Celestial Dao.
Yang An repeated the process, reaching into the mass of Spirit Charm. Only after completely absorbing it did he retrieve the Mountain and River Order from within. His speed at absorbing the Spirit Charm was increasing.
Unexpectedly, the Mountain and River Order itself was completely untainted. Perhaps the City God hadn’t been exposed to the corrupting qi for long, or maybe the qi hadn’t yet penetrated too deeply into Earth. Then again, there could be other possibilities.
Regardless, this was good news for Yang An. It meant the corrupting qi had yet to reach Earth’s true core. There was still hope for this world to be saved.
Pan Yu and Pan Shi had witnessed the entire process in silence, unsure of what to say.
Yang An had already explained that the disappearance of the Spirit Charm and corrupting qi was a normal part of retrieving the Mountain and River Order. But when he handed the order to Pan Yu, the latter looked deeply worried.
"Fellow Daoist Yang, corrupting qi has appeared here. I suspect my master’s judgment was wrong. If we continue devouring them, I fear the result will be failure."
"Just do as you were told, Fellow Daoist Pan. It’s not like we can defy the order anyway. Whatever the outcome, it’s not up to us.
Besides, it might not end in failure..."
There was a hidden meaning in Yang An’s words, but he doubted Pan Yu and Pan Shi could grasp it.
’He didn’t know much about Can Meng Daoist or Meat Tree True Master, but he knew Old Life Crane.’
’That old fox never did anything he wasn’t certain of; his every move was calculated. If he knew this would fail, why would he cooperate with Can Meng and Meat Tree?’
’Besides, Can Meng Daoist’s words might not be true. Or maybe they’re true, but he just hasn’t told us everything. In any case, I don’t trust a single one of them.’
’Which brings me to why Old Life Crane sent me here. It probably wasn’t just to help Pan Yu speed things up. There must be another angle, something to do with the corrupting qi that’s appeared here.’
’After all, aside from my ultimate trump card, that old man knows exactly what I’m capable of.’
Reassured by Yang An, Pan Yu accepted the Mountain and River Order. Yang An was right—they could only follow their orders. The outcome was not up to them to decide.
"I have a bold request, Fellow Daoist Pan Yu. Do you have any heart’s blood to spare? Could you give me a single drop?"
Yang An asked, having just thought of something.
"I do."
Pan Yu nodded. Without asking what Yang An needed the heart’s blood for or who it was for, he tapped a finger on his chest and drew out a single drop.
A pleased expression spread across Yang An’s face as he accepted the heart’s blood. He immediately pulled the Moon Talisman from where it hung around his neck.
Two things he carried were currently restricted, rendering them inert: one was the mask formed from the old monster, and the other was the Bow Lady.
This drop of heart’s blood was certainly not for the old monster. Yang An wished the thing would just die; he would never willingly reawaken its consciousness.
It was for the Bow Lady. It was time to lift her restrictions.
He had killed the City God, but its soul might still linger. The Bow Lady could devour souls and read memory fragments. The City God’s memories were sure to contain information about the major Immortal Mansions, which would give him a better understanding of the Cultivators on Earth.
Quickly, under Yang An’s control, the crimson drop of heart’s blood merged into the miniature Longbow within the Moon Talisman.
As Yang An watched in anticipation, the Bow Lady’s consciousness quickly awakened. A surprised voice sounded in his ear.
"Huh? Little punk, where are we?"
