The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man
Chapter 724 - 720: Sun Yeshu’s Competitiveness
Leng Yuan didn’t agree.
"It’s the busy farming season, so the production team isn’t allowing anyone to take time off. But I have a way to stop Xu Wenwan from absorbing other people’s luck."
Gu Jiaojiao stared at him with a curious expression. "What is it?"
Leng Yuan didn’t say.
Instead, he pinched his little wife’s cheek.
"Jiaojiao, if you don’t go to sleep soon, then we might as well not sleep at all. We could..."
"Oh, I’m so sleepy! I’m dead tired. It’s all the Main God’s fault for disturbing my sweet dreams."
The next day, after Gu Jiaojiao and Leng Yuan finished breakfast, they went to work.
She was once again assigned to work next to Leng Qingtian.
On her other side was Chen JianShe.
The busy season had been going on for a few days, and the conditions of the three men were worlds apart.
Leng Yuan was in the best shape, seeming to have an endless supply of energy every day. Chen JianShe was also doing well. After work, he would follow Leng Yuan up into the mountains.
Leng Yuan had set traps there, and with any luck, they would catch a wild pheasant or two. Even if the traps were empty, the two of them never returned empty-handed.
Eating meat kept their strength up.
The one in the worst condition was Leng Qingtian. He had dark circles under his eyes, and in just a few short days, he had lost a noticeable amount of weight.
The Leng Family’s meals weren’t considered bad in the village, but ever since Sun Yeshu failed in her attempt to report Gu Jiaojiao to the production team leader, she had become dead set on competing with her.
Gu Jiaojiao leisurely did no work, so Sun Yeshu refused to work as well.
But the fieldwork was assigned, and you couldn’t finish for the day until it was done. So, Leng Qingtian had to work late into the night by himself.
It was no wonder he was losing weight with such an intense workload.
But Sun Yeshu was still not satisfied. Seeing Leng Qingtian’s pace slowing, she couldn’t help but mutter.
"Qingtian, what’s wrong with you? Why are you so slow today? Look, Leng Yuan and Chen JianShe have already left you in the dust. I’m telling you, you can’t lose to them..."
Leng Qingtian worked while Sun Yeshu stood to the side, lecturing him, her mouth running a mile a minute.
Leng Qingtian grew tired of listening and told Sun Yeshu to shut up, but this only egged her on.
"Was I wrong? Just look at your work! You’re so slow. Why are you so useless?"
Sun Yeshu felt that Leng Qingtian was being inconsiderate. He knew she was competing with Gu Jiaojiao, yet he had dared to yell at her. It was an utter humiliation.
And so, in a fit of rage, she had said something vicious.
Men hate being called useless more than anything. He immediately stood up and glared coldly at Sun Yeshu. "You want to compare yourself to Gu Jiaojiao because she has it easy? She can support herself without doing farm work. Can you? She has a teaching job. Do you? She’s beautiful, and her husband is willing to dote on her. Can you even compare?"
"All day long, it’s compare, compare, compare! If you love comparing so much, why did you marry me in the first place?"
When Leng Qingtian first got together with Sun Yeshu, she had been gentle and considerate, and prettier than any other girl in the village.
On top of that, the matchmaker had sung her praises, so he thought she was a good choice and agreed to the marriage.
But after they got married, Sun Yeshu became lazy and greedy. She refused to work. Later, when she got pregnant, she did nothing at all except cook meals at home.
If it weren’t for the fact that everyone was required to work during the busy farming season, Sun Yeshu definitely wouldn’t have shown up.
It was one thing for her to show up and not work, but she also never stopped talking. Listening to her made a fire burn in his gut, and he felt so frustrated he wanted to just pick a fight with someone.
Sun Yeshu was completely stunned.
In their half-year of marriage, Leng Qingtian had never been so harsh with her. She froze on the spot for a moment. Then, coming to her senses, she smacked Leng Qingtian across the face, turned, and ran away crying.
Leng Qingtian didn’t chase after her.
’Good riddance. Finally, some peace and quiet.’
