Chapter 264 – There Are Two Types Of People; Ones Who Can Extrapolate From Incomplete Data,

"Welcome back, John. Aqua. Did you manage to get things sorted out?" Alec said as the lights and music died down. 

"Yeah, I think we're good... but what's up with this chair?" John replied, pouring a drink and offering it to Aqua before taking his own.

They were seated at the table as usual, but instead of his normal white chair, there was a wide, high-backed one in its place. Aqua was tucked into his right side, the former goddess not wanting to let go of him yet. Fate wasn't on the stage; they passed him in the break room, chatting with a couple of tall blue beings with a very wild look and weird tails. He thought he recognized them from an old movie, but hadn't stopped to chat.

"It's just a cuddle chair. All things considered, I figured it would be more appropriate for the setting. Now, before we move on to the breakdown, do you have any questions about that world?"

"Just one. Why did it seem like everyone was so over the top there? The most normal person I met was Wiz, and she is a Lich."

"What?!? Y-You were hanging out with a Lich!" Aqua exclaimed, spraying a bit of her drink in surprise.

"Yes. I had tea with her. She was actually quite a nice woman with a tragic past that led her to become a Lich rather than die. You can thank the peace that that world has right now because of her." John said, then looked back over at Alec.

"Hah, well, the story that world was based on is a comedy. Sure, there are some bad things, but most of what the main character experienced was more slice-of-life than tragic. That, and you did more in two weeks than they did in months. They never even met the Moonfall clan, as they didn't meet Beldia until well after he had moved into that castle. Heck, Duke didn't make an appearance in the story until several years later."

"Duke? Why do I recognize that name?" Aqua asked.

"You fired him a few years ago and promoted Angel in his place. He became a fallen angel, was recruited into the Devil King's army and became Beldia's right-hand man. In fact, he was the main reason the Moonfall clan were defeated in the first place."

"Ahh...right. I remember him now. So, it was my fault that Mica's people were enslaved?"

"No. You're not to blame for someone else's choices." John said, trying to reassure her.

"Indeed. Anyway, back to your question. The people are a little extra, leaning into stereotypes just to make a funny story. How that turned out in the real world is that Darkness has a mental disorder she can't control. Megumin's entire culture is different from that of people on the outside, and instead of changing herself to adapt to her new surroundings, she leans into it. As for Luna, she is simply getting older and has baby fever. Oh, and the Moonfall clan thinks you are a god, since you keep saving them and walk around with two of their gods like it's just another Tuesday."

"And I'm what? A forgetful goddess who can't take care of herself?" Aqua said before he could question why they would think he was a god.

"Pretty much. It turned out you were also a NEET who didn't want to deal with the outside world and instead curled up under a blanket to read. I know what you have been reading, Aqua, and I must say, it's quite naughty." Alec said, causing her to blush deeply. 

"Alec, please. Let's just move on." John said, though now he was wondering just what in the heck she was actually reading.

"Well, trying to read her mind was the kicker. She had the same block Aqua did."

"You knew she was Eris, too? Why didn't you tell me?"

"She asked me not to."

"Yeah. She became very interested in you. In fact, when she finds out Aqua is going to follow you around, she will be very happy that she is alive, but jealous that she can't come with you instead. You are well on your way to starting a large harem in that world."

"Wha- Are... are you really d-dating every other girl that was with us?"

"No. Just Mica, Darkness, and Luna. Megumin and Eris are both..." He started to say, but paused. Eris said she needed to think on things, and Megumin was acting weird in Suzy Q. "...still considering things."

"No. I'm not. Everyone I actually enter a relationship with, I intend to marry. I don't do casual sex, and if they don't have any interest in me or my lifestyle, I don't chase them. Like you."

John whistled. He didn't expect to see Aqua's stats and skills, but it was kind of nice to have them. She wasn't as weak as he thought she would be, considering she lost whatever she had before. He understood why she had such difficulty with thinking now... he would be having an Alzheimer's episode if his intelligence was so low. Not to mention, she had almost no luck at all. 

"Oh me... John... why do you have a quest to take the virginity of five different women?" Aqua asked, a deep blush forming on her face as she was going through his stats on her menu.

"Ask the pervert sitting across from us. I just work here." John replied, giving Alec a tight-lipped smile. He never asked for any of those, but he wasn't going to turn down extra bonuses if they wanted to give him something for doing what he was going to do already.

"Because we like to watch, Aqua. You should know that. You were a goddess." Alec replied, then turned his gaze back to John, swirling his drink around, his grin somehow getting even wider. "And remember that I said there was someone else who had the same potential as Rias that you hadn't met yet? Well, you have now." 

"Huh? What is he talking about?"

"Don't worry about it. He is just being a busybody whom I wish I had hit even harder now." John replied, then slammed his drink back, trying to calm his irritation. He really didn't like being indirectly led to chase 'Better' women, for this quest, and liked it even less when it happened in front of one of them.
