The Darling of Heaven Owns a Rip-off Shop
Chapter 983 - 9: Waterworld
Five hundred years have passed, and this world has changed dramatically.
After the floods receded, the land underwent a transformation. Fertile soil did not emerge; instead, it turned into many bottomless and treacherous swamps. The land was no longer suitable for human habitation.
Humanity established new cities in the former world on water, or more accurately, founded a new empire.
The descendants of Qu Fengbai and Zhou Chaoyang became the rulers of the Empire, continuing for generations until now.
Humanity was also divided into different social classes.
Those at the lowest level had no right to live in the water world; they could only live below the Water God Empire, surrounded by dangerous swamps. The living conditions were extremely harsh; besides the damp living quarters, they also had to face occasional invasions of toxic mist.
The lives of these people were entirely devoted to working for the Empire above them, manufacturing the goods the Empire needed. The Empire paid them in goods, allowing them to survive.
Beneath the Water God Empire, there used to be swamps too, and after the grand water world was established, massive flotation materials were laid down so humans could live above them. It’s uncertain if it was due to the influence of ancient fallen beings, but the swamps below often filled with rose-colored toxic mist. If the mist drifted in during calm conditions, people had ample time to hide indoors for safety.
However, if strong winds arose, people wouldn’t have time to seek shelter, and the consequences were dire. Death was common, with few lucky survivors whose lungs were still severely impaired, leaving them virtually incapacitated.
In the Water God Empire, there were no such threats. The people there ate the best food, wore the most comfortable clothes, enjoyed high-tech conveniences, and never faced the invasion of toxic mist.
The descendants of Qu Fengbai and Zhou Chaoyang were the kings of the Empire, ruling over this world and oppressing those living below. The ancestors were once dragon-slayers, but the descendants had become evil dragons.
And all this, Qu Fengbai and Zhou Chaoyang probably never imagined it would turn out this way.
...
When Kong Hou awoke, she felt a bit bewildered. She had just told Chaos that she was ready to jump in time, then everything went black and she lost consciousness. Now, opening her eyes, everything was unfamiliar.
Surrounding her were massive piles of garbage, emitting a stench that nearly knocked her out. She quickly got up, only to be stunned to discover her human form had shrunk considerably. She slowly reached out her hand, looking at her chubby little hands, twitching her lips in disbelief. How did she become like a child? Kong Hou focused her mind, trying to return to her adult form. In the next moment, she froze.
She couldn’t feel her power anymore!
Not a single trace!
In other words, she had turned into an ordinary person, a frail child without spiritual power!
What was going on?
Master? Master?
Kong Hou called out to Tianmiao in her mind, but there was no response.
Dong Xiao?
Kong Hou called out to Dong Xiao, yet there was still no response.
What unexpected event had happened?
Kong Hou stood still, feeling a bit at a loss.
This was her first time experiencing such an incident, something so strange and unfathomable.
What should she do now? Would Master and Dong Xiao realize something had happened to her and come to find her right away?
Suddenly, there was a disturbance behind her, and Kong Hou instinctively turned her head, only to see the mountain of garbage behind her collapsing down towards her.
