The captain didn’t speak, not even offering comforting words about possibly seeing it again in the future. He knew such things were unlikely.

"We’re almost at Divine Dragon Fortress. Although it’s not very big, their supplies are fairly abundant..." explained the captain.

"Hmm. We’ll take a good look when we get there," Zhou Chaoyang said with a smile.

Unexpectedly, before reaching Divine Dragon Fortress, they encountered a rare ocean storm.

...

"Report! Report! Divine Dragon Fortress is under attack by mutants! The foundations are being dismantled; we can only hold for two more hours. Please request assistance from the Peace!"

The radio intermittently echoed with the report’s response, yet the gigantic ship floating amongst the waves seemed incapable of responding to the call. The waves howled and continuously struck the deck, while black clouds gathered and the wind raged. Each person aboard, leaning against each other and trembling, had desperate looks in their eyes.

"Boom!" The large ship was lifted by the waves, fell from the peak, and those who hadn’t secured themselves fell into the sea or were thrown, ending up dead on the ship.

The cries for help from Divine Dragon Fortress had faded away, leaving only endless tsunamis and the sound of torrential rain battering the ship.

"Zhou Chaoyang, can you hold on?" The captain turned his head to look at the young girl calculating angles.

"No problem, Captain. I can hold on." Zhou Chaoyang wiped the sweat from her forehead, simultaneously measuring the wind strength and calculating the rudder’s angle, then showed a troubled expression, "Divine Dragon Fortress..."

The captain took out an old iron box, pulling out its last cigar and putting it in his mouth. His mustache quivered once as he sighed, "Silly child, at a time like this, we can’t even take care of ourselves. Don’t think about anything else. Let’s hold on for now." In truth, his heart was full of despair too, knowing they likely wouldn’t survive this time.

It’s such a pity for this child.

This good child who always carried a smile, always full of curiosity.

The ship rocked more violently; Zhou Chaoyang couldn’t stand steadily.

She understood, it seemed she could no longer hold on.

"Ah, what a pity. My wish won’t come true." Zhou Chaoyang smiled, her facial expression showing no fear or despair before death, only a hint of regret.

"What wish?" The captain curiously asked.

"I wanted, in my lifetime, to see the world return to its former self, full of sunshine, nature revived, birds chirping in a flowery paradise..." Zhou Chaoyang murmured softly.

Upon hearing this, the captain felt somewhat conflicted.

It’s not just that they might not make it through this, even if they did, such a wish is impossible.

However, after Zhou Chaoyang spoke, a gentle whisper sounded in her ear: "Then, as you wish..."

"Captain, are you speaking? No, you’re a man." Zhou Chaoyang immediately refuted herself after asking.

"What are you talking about?" The captain couldn’t comprehend at all. Suddenly, he looked out the window in shock, "The storm is getting smaller! Look, Chaoyang, the storm, it’s getting smaller!" The captain was almost crying with joy.

This is truly a turn at the brink of despair!

The storm actually got smaller!

"The storm, is it stopping?" Zhou Chaoyang stared blankly outside.

"Yes! Quick, let’s turn the rudder back." The captain exclaimed with delight.
