The City’s Strongest Son-in-law
Chapter 1646 - 1645: The Old Man
The people here are basically focused on showing off to each other, so hardly anyone notices that Su Changfeng has left.
But only Li Qingxiang himself has been constantly observing Su Changfeng’s actions.
Watching Su Changfeng’s departing figure, Li Qingxiang subconsciously feels that Su Changfeng is no different from other children, just a kid.
However, Li Qingxiang did not expect Su Changfeng to do such things, things that Li Qingxiang could not imagine.
Su Changfeng wandered around here and then came to a lakeside; this place was part of a large estate, hence there was a lake.
When Su Changfeng arrived, he saw many people fishing by the lake.
Curiously stepping forward, Su Changfeng watched an elderly man and said, "In such hot weather, can you catch any fish?"
"You have to be patient with the fish here, and here it comes now," the elderly man replied.
After speaking, the elderly man caught a fish directly.
This surprised Su Changfeng greatly; how could the fish appear just as he arrived?
It made Su Changfeng feel as if the old man was deliberately waiting for him.
But before long, Su Changfeng noticed the elderly man seemed to struggle, his face reddening from the effort of pulling the fish out.
Amused, Su Changfeng stepped up and laughed, "Grandpa, you seem to be lacking strength. How about I help you?"
Su Changfeng didn’t notice the playful expression that appeared on the elderly man’s face.
"You can help, but I don’t think you’ll manage," said the old man.
Su Changfeng raised an eyebrow; although he’d never done this in his past life, he didn’t think he’d fail at catching fish.
So Su Changfeng chuckled and said, "How difficult can it be?"
The old man laughed, "You’re quite confident, but it’s not as simple as you think."
Su Changfeng paid no mind to the old man’s remarks, thinking fishing couldn’t be difficult.
After all, he had the skills, and couldn’t imagine such a thing becoming challenging.
Therefore, Su Changfeng grinned and said, "Don’t worry, I’ll get the fish up quickly."
The old man said nothing, only placing the fishing rod in Su Changfeng’s hands.
Su Changfeng thought this might simply drain his strength, and planned to pull the fish out forcefully.
So, when he received the fishing rod, he exerted effort to lift the fish.
But as soon as Su Changfeng applied strength, he felt the force vanish, pulling up an empty hook.
This perplexed Su Changfeng as he hadn’t anticipated the fish would escape.
The old man seemed to have expected this, smiled and said to Su Changfeng, "Didn’t I tell you this wouldn’t be as easy as you thought?"
"What’s going on?" Su Changfeng looked at the old man beside him, puzzled by what had happened.
"Check if the bait is still on the hook," the old man suggested.
Upon looking, Su Changfeng saw that the bait was indeed gone.
Who would have thought the fish would be so clever, even managing to eat the bait and flee?
Watching Su Changfeng, the old man said, "Alright, now my fish is gone because of you. You’ll owe me one later."
"I must apologize for that. I didn’t expect it to be so difficult; I assumed it’d be easy." Su Changfeng said awkwardly.
"No worries, now you owe me a favor," the old man continued.
What’s this all about?
Su Changfeng felt puzzled; how had this transformed from a fish into owing him a favor?
At that moment, Su Changfeng heard the elderly man say, "You likely don’t know how much time I’ve wasted here to meet you."
"What do you mean, you’re waiting here specifically to meet me?"
Surprised, Su Changfeng looked at the old man. If this was indeed the case, Su Changfeng had to be cautious.
Initially, Su Changfeng never imagined the old man was waiting here purposefully.
Without Su Changfeng’s knowledge, he had been pulled into a trap set by the old man.
"What do you mean?" Su Changfeng asked, confused.
"Don’t worry, meeting you is to talk about something beneficial for both of us," the old man smiled.
"Oh come on, you set a trap for me and now talk about mutual benefits?" Su Changfeng said exasperated.
Initially, Su Changfeng felt a little guilty for what he’d done to the old man.
But by this point, all those feelings were gone.
Su Changfeng particularly disliked being schemed against, but it seemed he’d been calculated this time.
The old man looked at Su Changfeng and said, "You’re aware of those assassins, right?"
Su Changfeng furrowed his brows; initially he thought this person was likely just some company boss seeking cooperation.
But unexpectedly, the person mentioned the assassins, indicating that this matter was not as simple as Su Changfeng had thought.
"I didn’t expect you to know about this, so what, have they bothered you too?" Su Changfeng asked curiously.
The old man seemed to recall something.
"I had a son, but he was killed by those people, so I want to deal with them," he said.
"You mean you want revenge for your family by killing them, but that seems unrelated to me."
"Besides, they pose no threat to me since I can handle them myself."
Su Changfeng understood the assassins wouldn’t let it go, so he hadn’t lowered his guard.
Yet the idea of dealing with them didn’t cause him significant anxiety, as he felt they would not impact him.
