The City’s Strongest Son-in-law
Chapter 1641 - 1640: Dumbfounded
The only thought in her head was hoping that Su Changfeng would remember her.
So every now and then another wave of people showed up, leaving the classmates around Ji Hong utterly dumbfounded. By the time it was almost over, no one was talking anymore.
They just stared blankly as those bosses and the like talked with Su Changfeng.
The ones who hadn’t gone abroad could more or less figure out what was going on—after all, they all knew what kind of results Su Changfeng had achieved in the competition.
But those who had just come back from overseas were completely stunned; they simply couldn’t make sense of what they were seeing.
How could a kid like Su Changfeng have so many people coming here just to see him, and every single one of them looked so eager to ingratiate themselves the moment they saw him?
"What kind of person is Ji Hong’s son anyway? Could it be that he’s actually insanely capable?"
"Yeah, how old is he now? And he already has this many people scrambling over each other to get in front of Su Changfeng?"
For a while everyone just stared at Su Changfeng in shock, and even their attitude toward both him and Ji Hong shifted drastically.
But in An Yuanyuan’s eyes, all of this still felt totally beneath her.
Because in her view, Su Changfeng was just a kid, no way he had the kind of ability that would make these bosses keep fawning over him.
So An Yuanyuan instinctively decided that the only reason these people were acting like this was because Ji Hong had called them in to put on a show in front of everyone.
Just to make people think Ji Hong was some big, formidable figure.
Only An Yuanyuan felt these "actors" were overdoing it a bit. After all, you could clearly see how old Su Changfeng was—there was absolutely no need for these people to kiss up to him like this.
So when she heard the others discussing it, An Yuanyuan immediately sneered and said, "I think there’s something wrong with your eyes, isn’t there?"
"Or are your eyes really that bad? Do you honestly think any of this is real?"
"An Yuanyuan, then what do you think? These people are all here in person—how exactly do you explain that?" Everyone knew perfectly well that An Yuanyuan and Ji Hong had always been at odds.
But everyone also knew that Ji Hong didn’t care about An Yuanyuan at all.
So the conflict between the two of them, strictly speaking, was just An Yuanyuan picking a fight on her own.
Which was why, after hearing what she said, someone immediately started mocking her.
If they had only heard about this secondhand, maybe they would’ve suspected whether it was fake—but the problem was they’d just watched the whole thing happen with their own eyes.
Were they supposed to believe it was still all a scam?
"Heh, and how do you know what kind of people these really are? What if they were all just hired to come here and act a part?" An Yuanyuan still clung stubbornly to her own theory.
When they heard that, it was like everyone suddenly had a lightbulb go off in their heads, and they also started questioning whether what they were seeing was real or not.
Because looking at how young Su Changfeng was, it really was hard to explain why so many people would come here just to curry favor with a child.
But some people felt that since the person in charge of this place had come in person, that meant Su Changfeng’s identity and status clearly weren’t simple.
So all these people coming here to butter him up actually didn’t look that implausible.
Just as everyone was busy doubting whether this whole thing was real or fake, suddenly someone called An Yuanyuan.
When An Yuanyuan saw the caller ID, she immediately looked around at everyone with a smug expression and said, "Do you know who this is? He’s on the rich list!"
With that, she quickly picked up the call—after all, the other party was a bona fide tycoon, there was no way she’d dare be casual about it.
But the very next second, the smugness on An Yuanyuan’s face completely froze.
Because the tycoon on the other end said he didn’t know her at all, and even told her she shouldn’t conduct herself in such a showy, high-profile way.
This left An Yuanyuan utterly baffled inside. As far as she was concerned, she’d always played it straight.
So why was this person suddenly talking to her like that out of nowhere?
Yet she’d barely hung up when another call came in, and this time a very bad premonition suddenly welled up in her chest.
And in the very next moment that feeling was completely confirmed, because what this person said was almost exactly the same as the previous one.
This had An Yuanyuan totally confused—how could these two suddenly turn on her just like that?
But she didn’t really care that much at first, because she knew she had plenty of connections, not just these two.
Even if they both turned on her, it wouldn’t really affect her that much.
Except things were far from over.
In no time at all, An Yuanyuan received a whole string of calls, and what each person said boiled down to the same thing.
It felt like all the strength had been drained out of her body—she’d gone to enormous lengths, even resorted to despicable tricks, just to get to know these people!
But now, all of them were suddenly breaking with her, and some were even bluntly warning her not to be so ostentatious?
An Yuanyuan had absolutely no idea why they were doing this.
What the hell was going on?
She was practically losing her mind over all this—she’d only been back for a short while, so how had everything suddenly changed?
At that moment Li Qingxiang also noticed her expression, and said in puzzlement, "What’s wrong with you?"
An Yuanyuan’s brain had basically stopped working. Previously, to get acquainted with these people, she’d used all kinds of methods that wouldn’t stand up to scrutiny.
And now every bit of that effort had gone down the drain—and she still didn’t even know why.
Li Qingxiang felt that An Yuanyuan was really not okay now, like something big must’ve happened. If he could step in and help, maybe he’d even have a chance to win the beauty over.
"Are you alright? If something’s happened, just tell me. If there’s any way I can help, I definitely will."
From An Yuanyuan’s perspective now, getting Ji Hong into her hands probably wasn’t happening.
