Chapter 226: Knight of Happiness [1]
Chapter 225

Episode 57 - Knight of Happiness [1]
─────────────────────────────────
Raon looked at the man standing before him as he tightened his grip on his sword.
The Psychopath Knight.
It was a nickname given to him by the knights of the Kingdom of Valroa because of the way he killed his enemies.
Whenever he fought in an honorable duel, the Psychopath Knight would kill his opponent and always claim it had been an accident.
None of the knights particularly liked his arrogant and deranged personality.
Raon felt the same way as everyone else.
’He’s a complete psychopath.’
He hated getting close to people like that.
Nothing ever ended well when you were around them; they were nothing but a bad omen.
Raon stared at him in silence.
Then the Psychopath Knight smiled.
"Hahaha, look at you, Raon. You used to look like a proper knight, but now... now you’re nothing more than a drifter, a mere commoner with no achievements and no title... Hahaha, if the others could see you, it would be hilarious."
Raon pressed his lips into a thin line, trying to restrain his anger at the Psychopath Knight’s provocation.
When the Psychopath Knight realized that Raon was not charging at him, he stopped smiling.
"Ah, you’re just as boring as that other idiot who knows nothing except blindly following orders."
"Anyway, do you know why I volunteered to come to this place?"
He raised his sword and pointed it at Raon.
"Because your face disgusts me. I’ve always wanted to punch the bastard who acts so righteous with all his damn honor and principles. Tsk... you really piss me off."
"Anyway, I guess the others would probably say something like... ’It’s an honor to kill you.’ Did I get that right, Raon?"
Raon’s expression remained composed. Of course, the man standing before him was trying to provoke him.
However, Raon was thinking about his current condition and the people behind him.
’I’ve grown weaker since I drank the poison the maids gave me. I trained not long ago, ran here using the last of my stamina, and then fought. During the battle, I suffered second-degree burns...’
Raon’s body was far from its best condition.
At best, he could hold the Psychopath Knight back for a few moments, but that was all.
The Psychopath Knight’s fighting style was far too unpredictable, the kind of opponent who always gave Raon trouble unless he unleashed all his strength in a single attack.
And the Psychopath Knight was exactly that kind of opponent.
Raon’s thoughts raced.
But suddenly, Teresa’s voice echoed in his mind.
"...."
’Sir Raon, take Lady Vilenia with you. The butler and I will buy you enough time to escape.’
’In your current condition, you clearly won’t last very long. Even though I’ve lost an arm and have many wounds, I’m not exhausted.’
’This is the best option we have right now, Sir Raon.’
"....."
Raon closed his eyes for a second and replied,
’I can’t abandon you, Miss Teresa... Besides, Lady Vilenia would be heartbroken if you didn’t come back, and...’
He looked at the Psychopath Knight.
’That man won’t kill you without making you suffer first.’
At that moment, Teresa let out a soft laugh, surprising Raon.
’Ha, Sir Raon, I was raised as a weapon ever since I was a child. Whether I die in pain or without it means nothing to me, but...’
’Ever since I raised Lady Vilenia, all I want is for her to live. I don’t care if I’m left behind as long as she survives.’
’So, Sir Raon, take Lady Vilenia with you. I’ll buy you enough time.’
"...."
Raon’s expression darkened. He glanced back over his shoulder at Teresa and saw that she was smiling.
Raon pressed his lips together. Then he inhaled and slowly exhaled.
Then...
Boom!
He kicked a chunk of rubble, sending it flying toward the Psychopath Knight.
Caught off guard, the Psychopath Knight shattered the rubble with his fist, sending up a thick cloud of dust.
Raon spun around, grabbed Vilenia, and used mana to put her to sleep that very instant.
Then he turned his gaze toward Teresa. She looked back at him with a reassuring smile.
Without saying another word, Raon ran toward a window and leaped through it.
Moments later, his figure disappeared into the distance.
Teresa watched him briefly before turning her attention back to the Psychopath Knight.
Gripping her sword with her only remaining arm, she took her stance and prepared herself.
The Psychopath Knight swung his sword, scattering the dust. Then, when he realized Raon was already gone, his smile vanished.
"Tsk, you’re only making things more troublesome for me, Raon."
He turned around, preparing to chase after Raon.
However, at that very moment, Teresa swung her sword with every last bit of her mana.
She intended to pour everything into that single strike, if only to wound the Psychopath Knight badly enough.
Beside her, the butler also swung his sword.
"...."
Boom! Boom!
A tremendous explosion shook the entire area.
Teresa’s sword and the butler’s sword struck the Psychopath Knight with all their might.
Caught slightly off guard, the Psychopath Knight twisted his body and used his sword as a shield.
However, after taking the full-force attack from two Six-Star Awakened,
his body suffered several wounds, and he was violently knocked backward.
Teresa, breathing heavily, rushed toward him and swung her sword alongside the butler.
The Psychopathic Knight got back to his feet and then moved.
"....?!"
Boom!
The next second, the butler standing beside Teresa collapsed to the ground.
His body was shredded after being cut from every angle.
Chunks of flesh and blood fell to the ground, forming a macabre puzzle.
Teresa stared at him for a second before raising her sword and barely blocking the Psychopathic Knight’s attack.
The Psychopathic Knight, wearing a huge smile, stepped back and then moved again, swinging his sword.
Mana swirled around his blade, and just as the attack was about to reach Teresa...
"....?!"
Boom!
Suddenly, a crystal sphere glowing with an intense yellow light appeared right beside the Psychopathic Knight’s face.
The sphere then exploded, and flames erupted from the blast.
The flames streaked through the air, engulfing the Psychopathic Knight.
"...."
Teresa looked at what had happened in confusion, and before she could even realize it...
"...?!"
Someone scooped her up in a princess carry. Teresa looked at the figure, and her expression turned to surprise.
"Williams...!"
Williams, carrying her in his arms, dashed away and jumped out the window.
A smile was on his face as he looked at her and said,
"Hello, Miss Teresa."

What was the objective of Chapter One?
My master had asked me that question, and of course, I’m not a fortune teller, although, in a way, I am a Prophet.
The point was that the objective of Chapter One was to save Teresa, Vilenia’s maid.
According to the historical records, my master said that Teresa died while Raon and Vilenia were escaping the Kingdom.
Just by knowing that, I already knew what I had to do next.
’Save Teresa.’
That was the objective of Chapter One.
The Prologue’s objective was for me, Williams, to survive without becoming disabled.
Originally, according to the historical records of the heroes of the Dark Era that my master had told me about, Williams ends up disabled.
So yes, by saving Teresa, I’ll be able to clear Chapter One and move on to the final Chapter, Chapter Two.
And, just to be clear, I did what Raon had told me to do: prepare a means of transportation to escape the Kingdom.
Naturally, failing to do that would have meant failing to clear Chapter One.
In any case, after saving Teresa, the notifications appeared before me.
〖You have rescued Teresa, the maid.〗
〖Raon Rosenberg’s Story Progress: 75%〗
〖You have cleared Chapter One of Lord of Happiness.〗
〖Raon Rosenberg’s Story, Chapter Two, Finale.〗
〖Scene: "Knight of the Smile."〗
〖The player’s consciousness will be transferred to Chapter Two.〗
Actually, if it weren’t for the overwhelming increase in my movement speed after advancing to Five Stars,
it would have been difficult to run all the way to the summer mansion to rescue Teresa.
’But I made it there in just a few seconds.’
I let out a sigh as my vision turned completely black.
The world around me spun before my consciousness faded away.
Then...
I opened my eyes again.
I blinked as I looked at a ceiling completely different from the one before.
I frowned slightly as I got out of bed.
Then I sensed something different.
I looked down, carefully examining my body.
’It’s more... sturdy, isn’t it?’
Slightly taller and with a bit more muscle mass.
And above all, I raised a hand to my chin and felt the beard that had grown there.
’So a long time has passed since the events of Chapter One.’
Probably at least a year, and at most a few years—perhaps three.
I looked around, noticing that the room I was in didn’t resemble the kind of room where humans normally live.
’Mhm, now that I think about it... the Knight of Happiness is from the Floating Continent, isn’t he?’
That meant I was currently in a house where the Elvenheims lived.
’How interesting. It’ll be my first time seeing the Elvenheims in person.’
