The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1364 - 1304: The Queen’s Return (8)
The ambulance arrived, but there was no way to rescue Paige Desmond.
The car was already deformed, and Paige Desmond was trapped inside, so the firefighters were called in for extrication.
Everyone recognized Kiya, and crowds surged from all directions, eager to catch a glimpse of the Sultan.
"It’s okay, Paige, you’ll be okay, you’ll definitely be okay..." Kiya wasn’t sure if he was comforting Paige Desmond or himself.
"..."
"Paige, wake up, don’t sleep." He pinched Paige Desmond’s cheek hard, trying to wake her, but she didn’t respond at all. Kiya hoarsely shouted, "Paige, wake up! I command you, don’t sleep!"
He was terrified that if this woman fell asleep, she might never open her eyes again.
The media also arrived, reporting live on the scene, with people recognizing the injured Paige Desmond as the former Princess Consort, sparking more curiosity and gossip about the accident.
"Everyone shut the ~hell up!" Kiya found the noise overwhelming and cursed at the crowd.
The onlookers stared at this out-of-control man in shock.
Their Sultan, Kiya, who was usually elegant and god-like in his demeanor, now seemed like a madman.
Gavin immediately summoned the guards to disperse the crowd and warned the journalists not to report recklessly.
The firefighters arrived, dismantling the vehicle, and Paige Desmond was finally able to come out.
Kiya supported Paige Desmond’s head, using his other hand to cradle her back, carefully carrying her out.
Kiya’s entire body was covered in blood, his breath heavy, his eyes reddened.
"Paige..."
How did it come to this?
They just wanted to go hiking, why did such a terrible incident occur?
At this moment, Kiya’s heart was filled with regret and self-blame.
...
Abyanabad Royal Hospital, outside the operating room,
Kiya stood outside the operating room, his gaze fixed on its door, anxiously awaiting the end of the surgery.
Gavin hesitated but stepped forward, saying, "Sultan, don’t worry, the Queen will be fine."
"She didn’t want to go hiking, but I insisted... if we hadn’t gone hiking today, maybe nothing would have happened." Kiya said self-reproachfully.
Gavin replied, "Sultan, this was an accident, no one could have foreseen it."
"I caused this to happen to her." If anything happened to Paige Desmond, Kiya would never forgive himself.
After what seemed like an eternity, the door of the operating room opened again, and a nurse came out holding a document.
"Who is the patient’s family member?"
Kiya looked very disheveled at this moment, covered in blood, wearing a shirt and casual pants, and the young nurse did not recognize him as the great Sultan.
"I am." Kiya’s heart skipped a beat, and he quickly moved to the nurse, asking with a trembling voice, "Has the surgery ended? How is my wife?"
"How could it be so fast?" The nurse frowned at his dirty appearance, "This is a critical condition notification, sign it quickly, we need to prepare for surgery."
Kiya’s heart seemed to stop beating.
Time appeared to freeze.
After a few seconds, Kiya suddenly grabbed the nurse’s arm, "Why do I need to sign this? What’s wrong with her? What exactly did you do to her?"
The young nurse, pinched and in pain, cried out, "What are you doing? Let go of me, you’re hurting me."
Kiya didn’t let go, "What exactly did you do to my wife? Why is my wife in critical condition?"
Being the Sultan, Kiya was intimidating when angry, and the young nurse was frightened, tears welling up in her eyes. She explained,
"The patient went into shock during the surgery, and her internal organs are ruptured to varying degrees. Due to the impact, she has a concussion and cranial brain injury. We need to perform debridement surgery immediately... because all surgeries carry risks, we need the family to sign."
Kiya felt as if a piece of his heart had been ripped out, his face pale, asking arduously, "Can she be saved?"
Seeing that he truly cared for the woman being rescued, the young nurse softened her stance, "If you want the surgery to succeed, sign quickly, the longer it takes, the more perilous it is for the patient."
She handed the document to Kiya, waiting for him to sign.
Kiya’s hand trembled with the pen in his grip. He had signed countless documents, many dealing with agreements between nations, but none were as difficult as the surgery risk consent form for Paige Desmond.
The words appearing in his mind — deterioration, organ rupture, brain injury... life-threatening at any moment — clouded him with fear and anxiety, preventing him from signing, as if the moment he penned his name, Paige Desmond’s fate would be sealed.
Terror nearly consumed him, his vision blurred, and he suddenly lifted his head to stare blankly at the overhead fluorescent light, swallowing hard.
Gavin urged softly, "Sultan, please sign quickly, the Queen is waiting for the surgery."
The nurse approached, asking, "Have you signed yet?..." Seeing the surgery critical condition notification unmarked, the nurse grew impatient, "Why haven’t you signed yet?"
Kiya tightened his grip on the pen, crumpling the paper.
Seeing this, Gavin suggested to Kiya, "Sultan, would you like me to sign it?"
Kiya glanced at Gavin, his fingers trembled, and with a firm yet crooked script, he solemnly inscribed his name on the surgical critical condition consent form... then Kiya slid down the wall in exhaustion.
The nurse took the notification from his hand, preparing to enter the operating room, but her wrist was suddenly grabbed forcefully again.
"What do you want to do now?" The young nurse turned back, irritated.
Kiya stared at her, pleading, "Please, you have to save her..." He said with a choke, "Please..."
The young nurse, initially full of anger, saw Kiya’s pitiful expression and couldn’t help but feel compassion. She said, "Rest assured, we will do our best."
...
Imperial Palace,
Charlene cautiously returned from outside, heading straight to where Queen Mother resided. Queen Mother hadn’t eaten much all day, anxiously awaiting Charlene.
"Charlene, how did it go?" Queen Mother asked nervously upon seeing Charlene.
Charlene looked outside, closed the door, moved swiftly to Queen Mother’s side, and said excitedly, "Queen Mother, everything went smoothly..."
Queen Mother was overjoyed, "Is that little wench dead?"
"The car was deformed from the crash, even if she’s not dead, she’ll be a cripple."
Queen Mother inquired, "Did she die or not?"
Having taken action, Queen Mother sought nothing less than a decisive result, leaving no opportunity for Paige Desmond to survive.
"She is undergoing rescue, but I doubt she’ll survive..."
