The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1362 - 1302: The Queen’s Return (6)
"Alright, from now on I’ll just stay in my room and not go anywhere."
Paige suddenly changed her attitude, as if compromising, retreating, or perhaps resigning to her fate.
"Paige, thank you," Kiya said guiltily, feeling uneasy inside.
"..."
"Paige, I..."
Paige quickly averted her gaze, waved her hand, and didn’t want to say another word to him.
Kiya watched Paige’s departing figure, wanting to catch up and say a few kind words, but his feet felt like they were filled with lead and couldn’t move.
He knew she felt wronged, but he could only make her take a step back. The Queen Mother’s current mentality was particularly extreme; he couldn’t reason with the Queen Mother, nor would she relent.
...
During dinner, Paige didn’t eat and just went to sleep.
Oni reported Paige’s situation to Kiya, who listened with a furrowed brow, "How can she not eat? Why didn’t you persuade her a bit?"
"I did, but the Queen still refused to eat," Oni said softly.
"I understand. You may go now."
"Yes."
Kiya walked softly into the bedroom, but Paige wasn’t there, and Kiya felt a jolt of alarm in his heart.
"Paige?"
He searched the bedroom but couldn’t find Paige, "Oni..."
Oni was called back by Kiya, "Sultan, do you have any instructions?"
"Where is the Queen?"
"Isn’t the Queen inside?"
Kiya said angrily, "How are you taking care of the Queen? You don’t even know if she’s in the bedroom or not."
"I’ll go find her now," Oni panicked as well, clearly remembering that the Queen returned to the bedroom during dinner.
After searching around, Kiya almost gathered all the Guards in the Imperial Palace to search together. Fortunately, Kiya finally found her in Dylan’s bedroom.
She was lying on a small bed with Dylan, heads resting together, sleeping soundly, with Ella sleeping in a crib.
At that moment, Kiya felt that they were a family of three, and he was just an outsider. It was a ridiculous thought, yet that was exactly how Kiya felt.
Paige’s compromise was also her rejection of him.
Kiya was displeased that Paige was too close to their son; after all, Dylan was no longer a baby, so how could she still sleep with him?
Kiya picked Paige up, and Paige, who was very alert, woke up as soon as he moved her.
"Put me down, I can walk myself."
Kiya didn’t put her down, carrying her back to their bedroom, "Dylan is big enough and should have his own chamber."
Paige, still somewhat drowsy, looked at Kiya, always feeling a sense of unreality. She was carried back by Kiya, and as she lay on the inside of the bed, ready to continue sleeping, Kiya began to undress her.
Paige suddenly opened her eyes wide, grabbing his unruly hand, and coldly said, "I’m tired, I don’t want to do it!"
"Just lie there," he said softly.
"No!" Paige resolutely refused.
"Are you still mad at me?" He leaned over her, staring into her eyes, and asked.
Paige said, "No."
"If not, why refuse me?" he needed to enter her, to remind them of their relationship, "Let’s go register for marriage tomorrow."
"Let’s talk about it later," Paige pushed him away, turned over, and continued to sleep.
Beside her, Kiya lay there, but he couldn’t sleep.
This kind of relationship, akin to a cold war, wasn’t what Kiya wanted.
...
Just as Paige had predicted, the Queen Mother wouldn’t let Paige off easily, especially after Paige challenged her authority.
As Kiya wished, Paige didn’t go out, staying in her room regardless of how the Queen Mother acted outside.
Once, Kiya came back early and saw the Queen Mother outside insulting Paige with very harsh words.
"Queen Mother, please mind your status!"
Kiya was shocked by his mother, unable to believe those words came from her mouth.
"Kiya?" The Queen Mother also didn’t expect Kiya to return so early.
"..."
"Did Paige call you back?" the Queen Mother maliciously asked.
"Queen Mother, I’m truly impressed!" Kiya looked at her in disappointment, suddenly not wanting to say another word to her.
"..."
"The Queen Mother is ill and needs rest. Without my permission, she is not to leave her chambers!" Kiya placed the Queen Mother under house arrest.
He couldn’t let Paige endure everything, as enduring further would eventually chill her heart.
"Kiya, are you imprisoning me?" the Queen Mother angrily questioned.
"..."
"A barking dog doesn’t bite. That woman must have been waiting to pull such a trick on me."
No wonder Paige ignored her insults, she must have secretly called Kiya over to make him witness her being scolded.
Such a cunning woman!
Kiya assigned a few people to escort the Queen Mother back while she was still cursing, as if he had committed an unforgivable crime. Kiya could only pretend not to hear anything, turned around, and tiredly returned to the chamber.
If Kiya could choose his birth, he wouldn’t want to be the Queen Mother’s son.
He just wanted to be an ordinary man from Abyanabad, marry Paige, that ordinary girl, and live a simple yet happy life.
Kiya approached the bedroom door and heard the laughter of Paige and their daughter; their laughter was like the most beautiful music in the world, dispelling the gloom over his heart.
The door creaked open, and Paige looked over, seeing Kiya had returned early. She quickly looked away and continued playing with their daughter.
"Paige, I’m back."
"Mm."
"I had the Queen Mother sent back to her chambers, and I placed her under house arrest, so she won’t come over to scold you anymore."
"Mm." Paige’s reaction was very indifferent, as if it didn’t matter at all.
Kiya came over, sat by the bed, and looked at his daughter. The daughter smiled at him, waving her arms and legs, appearing especially happy.
"It’s nice being a child, without any worries," Kiya said with envy.
"..."
"I can rest tomorrow; is there anywhere you want to go? I’ll take you."
"I don’t want to go anywhere."
Kiya frowned and said gently, "Always staying in the room isn’t good; how about we go hiking tomorrow?"
"I don’t want to go."
Kiya reached for her hand, but Paige avoided him, picking up their daughter, walking to the window, and pointing out the beautiful birds on the branches to her daughter.
Kiya clenched his fist, looking at Paige’s back; on the surface, she was compliant, but her heart shut him out, refusing to let him in.
"Let’s go hiking tomorrow!" Kiya said.
"..."
"We can also go horseback riding."
Kiya rambled on, raising his eyes to find that Paige’s gaze was intensely focused on their daughter, as if she hadn’t heard his words at all.
Their slowly thawing relationship had returned to the freezing point after returning to the Imperial Palace.
