The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1360 - 1300: The Queen’s Return (Part 4)
Charlene helped the Queen Dowager up. The Queen Dowager was in a state of utter disgrace, looking at the woman standing before her, and truly wanted to kill her.
"Get out! Get out of the Imperial Palace right now!" the Queen Dowager roared.
"..."
"Paige Desmond, you were the one who wanted to leave the Imperial Palace back then. Since you’ve left, what are you doing coming back? Don’t you have any shame?"
Paige Desmond laughed, that bright smile of hers made the Queen Dowager want to destroy her face. Compared to those women of the old Sultan, the Queen Dowager hated Paige Desmond even more.
"Nothing would make me happier!"
Paige Desmond sent a maid to bring Dylan over, while she walked back and carried out her sleeping daughter.
She didn’t take anything with her, just her two children.
The Queen Dowager hadn’t expected that this woman, Paige Desmond, actually meant to leave?
She shouted, "If you leave, don’t ever come back!"
"Do you think I wanted to come back?" Paige Desmond shot back.
She had just walked to the palace gate. Freedom and a beautiful life were waving at her, when Kiya arrived. Sitting in the car, Kiya saw Paige Desmond and slammed on the brakes.
Kiya got out of the car, his expression anxious.
"Paige!"
Paige Desmond gave Kiya no good face at all. Hugging her daughter, she was about to walk past him when Kiya grabbed her arm and asked unhappily,
"Where are you going?"
"Oh, the Queen Dowager told me to get lost, so I’m getting lost." Paige Desmond said, utterly indifferent.
"My mother?"
Paige Desmond told Kiya, one by one, about how the Queen Dowager had come to "visit" her early that morning. Then she said, "Your Majesty the Sultan, please let go."
Kiya frowned at her. "Didn’t I say you weren’t to see my mother? Why can’t you just listen to me?"
"She was outside yelling and ranting. If I didn’t see her, she could have shouted out there all day long."
"..."
"Besides, why should I be afraid of her?"
Kiya’s temples were throbbing. "Paige Desmond, you..." It turned out that it was only because Paige Desmond had been enduring that everyone could save face. Now that she had decided not to endure anymore, the superficial harmony Kiya wanted was gone as well.
Kiya tried to coax her. "I’m the master of this Imperial Palace, and you’re my queen. This is our home. No one can drive you away."
"..."
"From now on, if my mother comes looking for you, just ignore her."
"We live in the same Imperial Palace. We see each other all the time; I can’t hide inside my bedchamber for the rest of my life and never come out.
And besides, Your Majesty the Sultan, you’re a person and I’m a person. I have my dignity too. When someone’s already cursing me to my face, I’m not going to swallow it. If someone tells me to get the hell out, I’d feel embarrassed just clinging on here."
"Paige?..."
"Don’t say anything else. I’m going to ’get lost’ right now!"
"Why must you say such spiteful things?"
"I’m not speaking out of spite!" Paige Desmond’s manner was distant and indifferent, her eyes cold on Kiya. "This is not my home. It has never been my home."
"Then what do you want?" Kiya lowered his voice and asked.
"I don’t want to live here!"
"Then where do you want to live? Go back to Sileria City? You’re already married; how can you still live in your parents’ home?"
Paige Desmond reminded him, "Kiya, we’ve been divorced for a long time."
Kiya froze for a moment, then suddenly remembered that after their divorce, they still hadn’t remarried.
"I’ll go and re-register the marriage tomorrow."
Paige Desmond let out a cold laugh.
The two of them were deadlocked. Dylan stood there and sighed. In fact, he wanted to say that he also wanted to go back to Sileria City.
Kiya carefully took their daughter from Paige Desmond’s arms, took her hand, and just like when he had first brought her back to the Imperial Palace, led her back inside.
"Let’s go to the Queen Dowager’s place and make things clear. I don’t want to be blocked at the door like today and have someone yelling ’little bitch’ at me."
Kiya said quietly, "For my sake, could you just endure a little? She’s my mother—what do you expect me to do?"
"I don’t want to endure! Kiya, I’m telling you, I won’t endure anymore!
If your mother curses me, I’ll curse her back.
If your mother dares hit me, I’ll hit her back.
If your mother dares try to snatch my children again, I’ll go down with her!"
Paige Desmond stood there, bristling with sharpness, like a sword ready to stab others and herself as well.
"Paige Desmond, must you be like this?"
Paige Desmond looked at Kiya with disdain. "Kiya, you’re a selfish man!"
She took her daughter back from Kiya’s arms and pressed him, "If you want me to stay, fine. Come on, let’s go to the Queen Dowager’s bedchamber and make things perfectly clear.
You tell the Queen Dowager she’s not allowed to provoke me again, otherwise I’ll get lost right now!"
"My mother’s health isn’t good..."
Paige Desmond walked off with her daughter. Kiya hurried a few steps to block her path. Seeing the resolute look on her face, he finally nodded and agreed.
...
The Queen Dowager was full of grievances. She had originally wanted to complain to Kiya, but didn’t expect Paige Desmond to strike first.
"Mother, I know you don’t like Paige Desmond. Since you don’t like her, then just don’t go looking for her anymore, all right?" Kiya pleaded.
Two women, one man—a pitiful man caught between them.
The Queen Dowager didn’t know what Paige Desmond had said to Kiya, but seeing his attitude, she knew Paige Desmond definitely hadn’t spoken well of her.
"Kiya, what did that woman say to you that you’ve come here to call me to account?"
Kiya was wronged no matter which side he faced. The Queen Dowager was disappointed and angry with him, while Paige Desmond no longer trusted him.
Dealing with the matters between these two was more of a headache for Kiya than handling state affairs.
"Mother, Paige didn’t say anything..."
Before Kiya could finish, the Queen Dowager shouted, "Didn’t say anything? Who are you trying to fool? If she didn’t say anything, would you come back and demand an explanation from me the moment you return?"
"..."
"Kiya, you really chill my heart. Ever since you married that woman, you’ve stopped wanting me as your mother."
The Queen Dowager was truly heartbroken. The child she had raised, once he married a wife, no longer wanted his mother.
"Mother, please calm down." Kiya’s temples throbbed again; he was completely unable to communicate with his own mother.
"I can’t calm down!" Unable to move, the Queen Dowager slapped the side of the bed hard and cried out, "Why did you bring that woman here? What bad things did she say about me? Are you planning to drive me away?"
"..."
"Fine, I’ll go, I’ll go."
"Mother!"
From beginning to end, Paige Desmond said nothing, watching coldly as the Queen Dowager performed an entire play by herself.
Once the Queen Dowager finished her tough act, she began playing the fragile one, bursting into heartbroken sobs.
"Kiya, how can you treat me like this?...You heartless child. Back then, when your father treated us mother and son that way, how did I protect you and get you through it?"
"..."
"You really are your father’s son, just as cold and unfeeling.
Back then, your father was ready to set me aside for a woman; now you, for the sake of a woman, don’t want me as your Queen Mother anymore..."
