The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress

Chapter 1223 - 1163: Giving Birth to Twins

  • Next Chapter

On the early morning of September 6th, Sienna Johnson suddenly felt contractions in her belly. Having given birth to two children before, Sienna was no stranger to this pain—she was going into labor.

She nudged Adrian Desmond beside her, who groggily murmured and pulled her into his embrace.

Sienna said, "Adrian, wake up, I think I’m going into labor."

Adrian shot open his eyes, looking at her in bewilderment, "Going into labor? But it’s not the due date yet, is it?"

"Twins usually come early."

Sienna had planned to go to the hospital in the next couple of days anyway, but she didn’t expect the two children to be so eager to come out.

"Wait here, I’ll get the car."

The hospital bag had long been prepared by Sienna, and she reminded the slightly flustered Adrian, "Remember to bring my hospital bag."

"Okay."

Sienna also got up to get dressed. The pain wasn’t too intense yet, and there was still some time before she would give birth.

Adrian rushed in frantically but didn’t see Sienna, "Sienna?"

"I’m taking a shower, just wait a bit."

Adrian: ...

Knowing Sienna was showering, Adrian didn’t know what to say. He was so nervous, yet she still had the mood to shower.

He knocked on the bathroom door and asked, "Aren’t you going to have a baby? Why are you showering?"

How could she be so calm? There was no sign of nervousness at all.

"It’s just the contraction phase, still early for delivery. It’s only about a thirty-minute drive to the hospital, there’s plenty of time."

Adrian was sweating in his anxiety, "This time you’re having twins, we better get to the hospital soon."

"Alright,"

It’s September, and the weather is still hot, though it’s cooler in the mornings and evenings. The thought of confinement worried Sienna.

After a quick shower, she felt much more comfortable.

Sienna asked, "Did you call my mom?"

"No."

"You should call my mom too."

Pauline Briggs, having been through this before, could think of things Adrian might miss. With Pauline around, Sienna felt more at ease.

"Alright." Adrian didn’t go himself but sent Sally to do it.

Adrian held Sienna’s hand in one of his and carried a big bag with the other as they walked to the garage.

The two of them arrived at the comfortable family car, and Pauline also hurriedly came over.

Pauline looked at Sienna and asked with concern, "Does it hurt a lot?"

"It’s alright."

Pauline said, "Twins always come early; I told you to go to the hospital for observation earlier, but you didn’t listen, and now you’re suddenly in labor."

"There’s still time."

Seeing her daughter’s unhurried demeanor, Pauline was afraid the baby would be born on the way and urged Adrian to hurry to the hospital.

It was early morning, a time when there are few cars on the road, so Adrian sped up, managing to cover the half-hour journey in just ten minutes.

Sienna felt like they arrived in the blink of an eye.

In the hospital, the doctor for the delivery had already been contacted, and everything was proceeding smoothly. As Sienna entered the delivery room, she even comforted the anxious Adrian.

"Mom, why isn’t Sienna crying? Isn’t childbirth supposed to be extremely painful?" Adrian, hearing no sound from Sienna, felt restless.

"My daughter is different from other pregnant women."

Seeing his worry, Pauline reassured, "It’s alright, this isn’t her first time. Everything will go smoothly."

Adrian couldn’t calm himself and started pacing the hospital corridor, muttering, "I heard twins are hard to deliver; would it be a difficult labor..." then shook his own head, "It shouldn’t be, Sienna is in good shape now."

"It won’t be, it won’t be, definitely not!" Pauline’s face turned pale, "I’m still waiting to hold my grandchild; there’s no way it’ll be a difficult labor. Don’t jinx it!"

"I’m just worried," Adrian explained.

After more than five hours of labor, the twins were finally born healthy; however, the younger one’s body was a bit weaker.

Adrian took one look at the two babies brought out but didn’t hold them; instead, he dashed into the delivery room.

Sienna lay on the bed, completely drained, feeling like she had just been through a near-death experience.

"Sienna, Sienna, how are you?"

Adrian stood by her side, gently calling her in his deep voice. Only then did she slowly open her eyes.

Her face was covered in sweat, sticky to the touch, her eyes red and swollen—she must have been in great pain. Adrian was deeply distressed, leaned down to embrace her, "Sienna, let’s not have any more kids after this."

Sienna moved her lips a couple of times, "It hurts, it hurts so much..."

She could still feel that tearing pain as if she had been pried open with a knife from the inside.

"Why didn’t you scream if it hurt? I saw other pregnant women screaming during labor, but you were completely silent. I was worried sick outside."

Sienna smiled weakly, "I didn’t want to worry you. It was painful, but I could bear it."

She was carrying twins, and screaming would have exhausted her strength, leaving her unable to deliver. So, no matter how much it hurt, Sienna gritted her teeth and endured.

"You fool!" Adrian said dotingly.

"You’re the fool!"

"You’re a fool’s wife!"

...

Sienna was wheeled back to the hospital room, and Pauline, knowing that Sienna loved cleanliness and couldn’t stand feeling grimy, set the air conditioning to a high temperature, wiped her down, and changed her into clean clothes. Sienna seemed utterly exhausted, remaining asleep the whole time.

"Mom, why hasn’t she woken up?"

Pauline retorted, "Why don’t you try giving birth to two kids?"

Adrian, being scolded by his mother-in-law, stayed silent.

...

Sienna slept through the morning and woke up at noon. Seeing the white hospital room, she suddenly recalled that she had given birth.

"Mom, Adrian..."

Adrian had been keeping watch in the hospital room and, seeing her wake up, hurried over.

"You’re awake? Are you hungry? Do you want something to eat?"

Seeing her remain silent, Adrian thought she was still in pain and quickly said, "Let’s not have any more kids after this."

Seeing his anxious look, Sienna laughed gently and said teasingly, "What about the babies then? I gave birth to them, and you don’t like them, and you didn’t accompany them."

He liked the babies she gave birth to, of course, but he liked Sienna even more.

At that moment, Pauline pushed the two babies in, hearing her daughter’s words, joking, "He’s been busy taking care of you; where would he find time to see the babies?"

"..."

"Come, take a look, they’re so fair and chubby. Oh my, my little grandchildren..." Pauline’s face was full of affection.

Sienna saw the two children, and unlike their curly-haired elder siblings, these two had straight hair and looked different.

The brother was fair and chubby, but the sister looked pitiful, her skin wrinkled, resembling a little monkey.
