Phoenix Hill Cemetery,

Sienna Johnson stayed at the foot of the mountain and did not go up.

She was pregnant, and pregnant women should not enter cemeteries, fearing that unclean things might upset the fetus.

Adrian Desmond could not reveal his identity, so despite coming along, he did not go up either. He stayed with Sienna in a sealed car, unseen by outsiders.

"Don’t be sad; grandma is with grandpa and dad in another world. ... Grandma valued the twins in your belly so much. If she knew you were this sad, she wouldn’t be at ease even in her passing," Adrian Desmond comforted.

The old lady had always anticipated the arrival of the twins in Sienna Johnson’s belly, yet in the end, she didn’t get to see them.

"Adrian, I feel so hollow inside... Why do people live, bustling about, facing challenges and obstacles... so many tests... and the people around you will leave one by one..." Sienna reflected, speaking with pessimism,

"No wonder babies cry when they’re born; they simply don’t wish to come into this world."

"You’re overthinking it," Adrian was far less sentimental than Sienna.

"Adrian, you mustn’t die!" Sienna said wilfully.

Adrian: ...

"At least you can’t die before me!"

"Alright, I wouldn’t feel at ease dying before you!"

...

Coming back from the funeral, the Johnson Family was exhausted, skipping dinner and retreating to their rooms.

Curly hugged her pillow and came to her parents’ room, insisting on sleeping with them.

The little girl, usually full of energy, now hung her little head like a flower beaten by wind and rain.

"What’s wrong?" Sienna asked, this was not like Curly at all.

Curly gazed at her father and mother, eyes sparkling with tears, and asked, "Are you going to die too?"

"Why did you suddenly ask this question?" Sienna gently touched her beautiful curls and said softly.

"Great-grandma has gone, and grandma said: when people get old, they die. You will die too, won’t you?" Curly asked.

"Yes, that’s right."

Sienna had been raising Curly as an heir, rather than a five-year-old girl, so she told her harsh truths, teaching her to be strong.

Curly sat cross-legged on the bed, clutching her pillow and started to shed tears.

"Why are you crying?"

"When I think about you dying, I feel very sad... Why do people die?"

"When people get old, they all die."

Curly cried and wiped her tears, "Then what will I do? If you die, what will I do?"

Thinking of her parents buried underground and only herself left behind made Curly terribly sad.

Sienna wiped Curly’s tears and said, "You’ll have a man who loves you, you’ll have your own children, and you still have brothers and sisters. They will be with you, you won’t be lonely."

Curly shook her head, "It’s different, they’re not my dad and mom."

Curly drowned in her sadness, impossible to comfort; even Adrian’s promise of giving her diamonds didn’t help. Eventually, Curly cried herself to sleep.

Watching her sleep, her small body still twitching, Sienna said to Adrian, "I thought she was carefree and didn’t rely on us so much."

Adrian disapproved as he looked at Sienna, saying, "She’s only five, just a little girl."

"Indeed." Sienna decided not to be so harsh on her daughter anymore.

"Sleep," Adrian said to the weary Sienna.

With the old lady’s passing, Sienna had been the one bustling around, though Adrian sent many to help, many things still required Sienna’s personal attention.

"Adrian, for our children, we both have to live well."

"Of course!"

Adrian reached out, embracing Sienna as they lay down. Worried Curly might kick Sienna’s belly in her sleep, Adrian kept Curly by his side as a barrier.

...

Abyanabad, Desmond Manor,

Kiya quietly arrived at the Desmond Family, knowing Kiya was coming, Paige cooked personally.

The family of three sat together enjoying their dinner, quite joyful.

After dinner, Kiya had someone take their son away, having words to say to Paige.

Seeing he ate quite a bit, Paige brewed him some tea to aid digestion.

"Is there something you want to tell me?" Paige asked.

"Someone wants to kill me." Kiya confided this secret to Paige.

Paige was shocked on hearing; the Dowager Queen was jealous, the former Sultan had many wives, yet had no children with other women, and Kiya had no siblings, so power struggle was impossible.

Who on earth wanted to kill him?

"Is the news certain?"

"Certain!"

Paige’s expression turned grave as well, although she had many issues with Kiya, she did not wish him dead. Firstly, Kiya was Dylan’s biological father, and secondly, Kiya granted Adrian many privileges, which would be revoked if Kiya was no longer Sultan.

"Do you know who it is?"

"No."

Sienna watched Paige, holding her on her lap and asked, "If you don’t want me to be Sultan, I can step down."

"How can you not be Sultan?"

Kiya selfishly said, "I want to live for you... I realize, you’re more important. Paige, I don’t want to be secretive with you anymore. You’re my wife, I want to openly be with you..."

"It’s impossible!" Paige firmly refused without a second thought, living well now, Paige had no desire to return to the Imperial Palace.

Pain flashed in Kiya’s gaze; Paige was no longer the person she used to be, even if they reunited, Paige didn’t place him in her heart.

He estimated she would be happier with him dead.

Thinking this, Kiya felt deeply sad...

"...If you know there’s a threat on your life, then be doubly cautious. Don’t give them an opportunity." Paige thought for a moment and said, "Besides, don’t come to the Desmond Manor for now."

Fearing his whereabouts being known, Kiya only brought Gary and Gavin when visiting Paige. If known, it would provide others a chance, no?

"Although I don’t know who wants me dead, it’s merely because I’m Sultan. Gulit now has a son, I can stop being Sultan."

"..."

"Paige, I can relinquish the Sultan’s position for you."

Just a word from her, and Kiya is willing to sacrifice the Sultan’s throne for her. Sultan, he truly does not crave.

"No way! How can you not be Sultan?" Paige opposed.

Kiya’s expression turned cold, "Why must you insist I remain Sultan?"
