Chapter 2704: Chapter 2703: Hearts Turn Toward Evil

The group of disciples were all greatly shocked, reaching out to touch the edge of the formation, as if their hands were pressed against a wall of golden light.

The Golden Energy was razor-sharp; just a single touch made blood ooze from their palms.

Long Fei and Jiufeng stood outside, calmly explaining to the crowd, "You guessed right. This is indeed a Golden Elemental Formation. Using the acid of these Gold-Devouring Ants, it generates Magnetic Force inside, imprisoning a portion of space and devouring all metal objects. If you want to leave, you’ll have to throw in all your Storage Rings and Magical Treasures. You can’t have even a speck of metal on you."

The disciples all looked at him, speechless for a moment, then muttered, "How did this brat slip past it again?"

"What kind of luck is he riding on?"

"Why is it always us who get screwed over?"

"..."

They had gone through so much trouble here collecting all that gold ore; how could they possibly throw it away so easily?

One senior brother shouted, "I don’t believe we can’t break this barrier. Everyone, attack the formation together!"

He took the lead, and together with the disciples merged their Sword Qi into a single stream, stabbing it toward the Golden Elemental Power barrier ahead.

The sword light spun like a drill, one strike piercing into the Golden Elemental Power barrier, issuing a harsh buzzing and grinding screech.

The Golden Elemental Power barrier showed no reaction; instead it swallowed all the Sword Qi the disciples had gathered into its interior.

The formation, which had been relatively calm, suddenly turned violent after devouring this Sword Qi.

The entire Golden Elemental Power barrier started spinning, the metallic energy inside raging upward toward the crowd like countless little swords.

Poof, poof, poof—muffled impacts echoed. Many disciples were struck all over, skin split and flesh torn, screaming as they collapsed to the ground.

Long Fei warned them, "Decide quickly. If this formation fully activates, you’ll be ground into dust by the Golden Elemental Power. You can still make it out now!"

The leading senior brother spoke in despair, "Throw it away!"

He was the first to toss all his Storage Rings and Magical Treasures into the formation, then rammed his lone body into the Golden Elemental Power barrier.

This Magnetic Force didn’t pull at flesh; he only used an Essential Qi Barrier to protect himself, endured some of the Sword Qi shredding inside, and managed to get out.

The Golden Elemental Power was ferocious, slashing his body full of cuts; even his clothes were shredded into ragged scraps.

Seeing this, the other junior brothers could only cry out helplessly, "Throw it away!"

In front of life and death, all external things can be discarded.

They each threw in their Storage Rings and Magical Treasures, carrying nothing, and like their senior brother used Essential Qi Barriers to protect their bodies as they drilled out of the formation.

There were still some who couldn’t bear to let go of their precious items. One after another, they picked up the Storage Rings and Magical Treasures their seniors had tossed, shouting like madmen inside, "I’m rich, I’m rich! All these Magical Treasures are mine!"

One senior brother yelled anxiously from outside, "Junior brother, don’t be stupid! Get out of there, now!"

That disciple turned a deaf ear, continuing to rummage among the discarded Storage Rings and Magical Treasures inside.

He shouted lightly toward the outside, "I don’t believe I can’t get out. If I make it out, I’ll never have to worry about anything for the rest of my life!" ℯℯ𝑙.

He summoned a Magical Treasure—the Diyong Sword someone had just used earlier.

Both ends were pointed, and it drove itself down into the ground.

With a bang, the gravel and stone on the ground shook, as though it really had drilled a hole.

One senior brother slapped his forehead and yelled, "Why didn’t I think of that? We can burrow out from underground!"

Before he finished speaking, the Diyong Sword slipped out of control, suddenly drilling back up from underground. It sped around inside the formation, then with a puff, pierced straight through that disciple’s body.

"Junior brother!"

The crowd shouted in horror.

The Sword Qi within the formation grew even more violent; dust billowed, and no human figure could be seen inside anymore.

Everyone just stood there in a daze, cold sweat breaking out on their foreheads, secretly thinking that if they had been even a little slower, they would probably have been annihilated as well.

The whole group was as wretched as wretched could be. They’d come here hoping to pick up some gold and make a fortune, only to end up with absolutely nothing.

They were all injured, and now they didn’t even have a single Pill for treatment.

Their eyes reddened as they stared at Long Fei and Jiufeng, like a pack of hungry wolves eyeing two lambs.

Long Fei looked at them and said, "Don’t look at me. I didn’t have anything on me, that’s why I could walk out of the formation safely."

One senior brother barked, "You understand formations?"

Long Fei said, "Somewhat."

That senior brother cursed, "Then why did you pretend you didn’t understand anything before, deliberately letting us suffer in the formation?"

"Yeah, were you trying to use this formation to kill us on purpose?"

"We’re all fellow disciples of the same sect. How can you be this heartless?"

"You two must compensate us!"

"..."

The crowd cornered Long Fei and Jiufeng, cursing them out to vent their anger.

Jiufeng couldn’t hold back and snapped, "Do you people have any sense? We kindly saved you, and somehow it’s our fault now?"

Someone snorted coldly, "Saved us? Who knows what scheme you’re plotting. I bet you want us to keep paving the way for you."

"Of course. You two are way too calculating. Acting like you know nothing, when in fact you’re using us to scout ahead for you!"

Others chimed in, cursing loudly.

The killing intent around Jiufeng spiked sharply. "You trash dare call yourselves Kunlun Disciples? You’ve completely disgraced your ancestor!"

She wanted to slaughter them, but Long Fei stopped her.

Long Fei spoke kindly to the crowd, "Everyone’s lost their Storage Rings and Magical Treasures; I understand you’re upset, but there’s no need to suspect others like this. Since you say we used you to scout the way, we can part ways here. We’ll go first, then you go after. That way no one is taking advantage of anyone."

Someone snapped anxiously, "You’ve caused us to end up like this, and now you think you can walk away on your own?"

"You’re not going anywhere!"

Someone clenched his fists and stood up, blocking Long Fei and Jiufeng’s path forward.

"You understand formations. If you leave, what are we supposed to do?"

The group stood up and surrounded them.

Jiufeng said speechlessly, "So going is wrong and staying is also wrong. Then tell us: what exactly do you want us to do?"

The crowd held a quick, quiet discussion, then ordered the two of them, "You’ll walk in front and scout the way for us. If there’s a formation, you must warn us in advance. If we get trapped in another formation while you two stay safe—once we break the formation and get out, we’ll kill you both!"

"Right, that’s the fairest plan!"

"Don’t even think about screwing us over again!"

"If there’s a formation ahead, you must tell us beforehand!"

"..."

The crowd was extremely overbearing, convinced Long Fei understood formations and determined to make him obediently risk his life for them.

Someone proposed, "Junior Brother Fei Long can walk at the very front, and Junior Sister Fengjiu will follow behind. If Junior Brother Fei Long tries any tricks, don’t blame us for going hard on Junior Sister Fengjiu!"

The others all praised the idea, feeling this was the safest arrangement.

Fire flared off Jiufeng; she wanted to start killing right away.

Long Fei, however, agreed calmly, letting Jiufeng follow behind them while he led the way in front.

This whole group now looked as shabby as beggars, dressed in torn rags as they continued forward.

And oddly enough, after all that commotion—

Along the way, they passed many dangerous spots, yet encountered no real danger.

Jiufeng even suspected Long Fei was deliberately opening a green channel for them.

After following Long Fei for a while, a cool breeze blew from ahead, and the tunnel before them suddenly widened, mixed human voices echoing from within.

They hurried forward and saw that the various Cultivators who had been separated earlier were now gathered together again in this cavern.

The cavern was huge, like an underground world.

Stone pillars rose everywhere inside, forming what looked like a vast Stone Forest.

Suspended above were eerie blue gemstones, like stars, illuminating the cavern brightly.

Everyone looked at each other’s wretched state and burst into mocking laughter, gossiping and gloating over one another’s misfortune.

Some excitedly showed off their lucky encounters to the crowd, while others couldn’t resist starting to explore the cavern, searching everywhere for the legendary Three Lives Flower.
