The Apocalypse Took Everything, This Time I Hoard It All First
Chapter 147: Watching the Show
Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Watching the Show
Yara Sawyer was able to stay by his side relying on her special poison-type superpower. Previously, with this ability, they had wiped out three teams of Second Order Superpower Users in just three days. They didn’t even need to kill zombies; they just had to pick off the leftovers and snatch the Crystal Cores.
They killed all the men and disposed of the women after getting tired of playing with them. To them, the Crystal Cores of Superpower Users were the most valuable things.
Rhonda Dawson had long been irritated by their disgusting gazes. Standing beside Shane Shaw, she sneered, "Scum."
Looking at Lance Miller’s severed arm, Yara Sawyer’s voice trembled. "Brother Ron... it’s useless... I released my poison the moment I got out of the car..."
"You stinking bitch! I’ll deal with you later!"
A scrawny man glared at Yara Sawyer, cursing angrily as he raised his blade and charged at the group.
The rest of the men had bloodshot eyes filled with a soaring hostility. Seeing their companions dead or injured, they didn’t show the slightest hint of fear. Days of slaughter had already stripped away their humanity. Raising their blades, they lunged at Rhonda Dawson and the others, wildly throwing out a few laughable little flames and earth spikes.
Aaron Palmer, Miles Dawson, and Evan Olson’s eyes suddenly sharpened. They instantly activated their superpowers, and dozens of Fireballs and wind vortexes howled forth, striking the charging men with deadly precision.
The men had just noticed the sharp whistling of the superpowers tearing through the air. Their breath caught, and they immediately tried to dodge, but it was too late. The Fireballs and wind vortexes pierced straight through their skulls. The men fell stiffly to the ground before they could even finish their screams, crimson blood gushing from the gaping holes in their foreheads.
At the same time, seeing that the situation was dire, Lance Miller didn’t hesitate for a second. He dashed to Yara Sawyer’s side in a few strides, grabbed her with his left arm, and sprang into the air, hoping to use a few jumps to escape in the chaos.
"Too slow."
The moment Kevin Keane’s voice fell, a purple lightning dragon crashed down with a deafening roar.
BOOM!
The lightning struck the two of them with perfect accuracy just as they had ascended a few meters into the air, and a charred scent instantly permeated the surroundings.
The two pitch-black corpses, still holding their embracing posture, smashed heavily into the ground. Flakes of charred skin scattered and fell, while the white smoke beside the group was blown away by the cold wind.
The entire process took less than ten seconds, and the battle had already come to an abrupt end.
Jasper Payne and his group hadn’t even recovered from their indignation over Luna Dawson collecting all the supplies before they were completely stunned by the clean, ruthless, and merciless killing before them. Not a single one of them dared to make a sound.
Luna Dawson strolled forward at a leisurely pace. She touched the cargo truck’s carriage with her hand, instantly storing the supplies inside into her spatial dimension, and said slowly, "Tsk, trash. They only lasted a few seconds."
Miles Dawson and Aaron Palmer searched the corpses on the ground and dug out the Crystal Cores. Evan Olson and Lynn Shelby searched the car those men had driven over. A short while later, they handed all the Crystal Cores they found to Luna Dawson.
"That’s quite a lot. It looks like there are four or five hundred of them." Luna Dawson weighed them in her hand.
Kevin Keane’s eyes curved into a smile. "They finally fell into my hands. How thoughtful of them to deliver themselves to us."
Blake Blue frowned. "Judging by their ruthless demeanor, they’ve probably killed a lot of people."
Evan Olson spoke up, "Yeah, the superpowers of those people in that team were quite unique. They’ve probably never failed before."
Rhonda Dawson rubbed her arms with lingering fear. After all, it was her first time seeing people killed, and her face was a bit pale. "Luna, they’re from the base. Will we get into trouble?"
Shane Shaw shot a cold glance at the corpses on the ground. "These people deserved to die! The announcement made it clear, so we’ll be fine."
Luna Dawson and her team swept their gazes across the logistics park, their eyes meeting the terrified faces of Jasper Payne’s group. From the looks of it, those people wouldn’t dare to act up in front of them anymore. Losing all interest in teaching them a lesson, Luna’s group couldn’t be bothered with them. They turned and walked back into the warehouse. After touching those pieces of trash, they needed to wash their hands thoroughly.
"Luna Dawson! How dare you kill people?"
Shay Kramer’s trembling voice rang out as she questioned Luna Dawson’s group inside the warehouse.
Luna Dawson raised an eyebrow and turned to stare at her. Did someone else want to deliver themselves to death?
Yolanda Kramer gave her sister a deep look and tugged hard on Jasper Payne’s hand. She had profoundly experienced just how not-to-be-trifled-with Luna Dawson was!
Jasper Payne returned a reassuring glance, while the other team members looked at Shay Kramer as if they were looking at a dead person. She was crazy!
"When I get back, I’m going to report you for brutally murdering the base’s own Superpower Users!"
Jasper Payne’s mind buzzed, almost short-circuiting. He just wanted to take a step forward and make it clear to her that this had nothing to do with their team...
But Luna Dawson instantly stored away the villa inside the warehouse, while a water sword gleaming with a cold light suddenly formed at her fingertips. Without any warning, it thrust straight at Shay Kramer!
Shay Kramer’s pupils shrank, her eyes widening in sheer terror. Thinking Luna Dawson was about to take her life, she let out a shriek and threw herself into Jasper Payne’s arms as if grabbing onto a lifeline.
The members of Jasper Payne’s team stiffened in shock at this sudden move. They hastily turned their heads to look and saw that Shay Kramer was completely unharmed. They had barely let out a sigh of relief when they caught sight of movement from behind out of the corners of their eyes, and their faces instantly turned deathly pale.
Jasper Payne hastily shouted at the top of his lungs, "Quick, get into the warehouse!"
At this shout, the terrified group scrambled on their hands and knees, pushing and shoving as they squeezed into the warehouse where Luna Dawson and her team were. In doing so, they ended up completely blocking Luna’s group, who were just about to head out, without leaving even the slightest gap.
Yolanda Kramer had been standing right next to Jasper Payne. The force of Shay Kramer throwing herself over made Jasper stumble. He instinctively pushed Shay forward, wanting her to hurry into the warehouse.
Unexpectedly, Shay Kramer suddenly turned around, a ruthless glint flashing in her eyes. She grabbed the unprepared Yolanda Kramer beside her and gave her a hard shove out of the warehouse!
Completely caught off guard, Yolanda Kramer slipped from the push and fell backward.
As she leaned back, she watched helplessly as the small zombie in the larger zombie’s arms whipped out several black vines with glowing green tips. They were just a hair away from her head, terrifying her so much that her heart nearly leapt out of her chest!
Fortunately, Henry Hayes reacted quickly. His vines shot out as if they had eyes, wrapping around Yolanda Kramer’s waist and yanking her into the warehouse.
Jasper Payne hurriedly raised a metal wall, tightly sealing the warehouse door and blocking the mother and child zombies outside.
These few short seconds of drama were so thrilling that Luna Dawson and her group inside the warehouse wanted to cheer. Luna had a rough idea of what kind of game these people were playing.
"Brother Ian, block the door for a bit."
Blake Blue walked up to the metal door Jasper Payne had erected. Superpower energy flowed from his fingertips, and in just a few moves, he had reinforced the door completely.
He had just finished when heavy pounding came from outside.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
The violent impact made the door shudder slightly.
Miles Dawson poked his head out to glance at Shay Kramer, a mocking smile curving the corners of his lips. "Tsk, tsk. How wonderful," he remarked, making no attempt to hide his ridicule. "This person is truly a piece of work. She actually pushed her own sister right into a zombie’s mouth."
Shay Kramer’s face instantly turned ashen. Struck where it hurt, she felt completely unnerved. Her mind raced, desperate to divert everyone’s attention and redirect their hostility.
She abruptly raised her head, glaring venomously at Luna Dawson, and screamed at the top of her lungs, "I didn’t do it on purpose! It’s all your fault! It was the bloody stench from your murders that attracted those mother and child zombies!"
The moment these words came out, not a single person in Luna Dawson’s group could hold back, and they all burst out laughing.
Kevin Keane looked down his nose at Shay Kramer. "So what you’re saying is that I should have just stood still and let Lance Miller and his men hack at me? Just like how your sister stood there and let you push her into a zombie’s mouth?"
With a single sentence, he pulled the derailed topic right back to the main point, leaving Shay Kramer speechless. Her face flushed and paled in turns.
