The Aboveboard Assassin
Chapter 32: Surging Dark Currents
Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Surging Dark Currents
Long ago, the Divine Revelation Hall had been attempting to cultivate players with SSS-rank talents, aiming to provide Blue Star with more Level 70 and above Strongest. Only when Blue Star produced more powerhouses could they combat the unpublishable secrets and undercurrents buried in the deepest parts of the Divine Revelation World.
However, the implementation of this plan was fraught with hardships and obstacles.
They had tried giving the royal treatment, providing everything needed so that an SSS-rank talent player could continuously level up and obtain Equipment that ordinary people would kill for, all without doing a single thing. In the end, however, the players they so painstakingly cultivated lacked practical experience and tempering. In danger-filled Dungeons, they not only lost their qualifications to enter the Divine Revelation World but even met their Burial.
They also tried offering no help at all, observing only from the shadows to let these geniuses grow through trials. Yet, perhaps because players with higher talents were envied by the heavens, very few managed to survive and become powerhouses. And all of this was because the races coveting Blue Star—the traitors who had devoted themselves to Devils or Alien Races—refused to see Blue Star produce more powerhouses that could break the current balance.
Failure after failure led to refinement after refinement. Finally, the Universal Light plan was born. Just like sunlight universally shining upon the earth, benefits and support would be provided to all new-generation players. Then, the highly regarded seedlings would naturally be able to bathe in this light and thrive!
"How is the current stock of Concealing Masks forged by the Hall’s Blacksmiths?" Zhu Xiuming asked, looking at Lillian.
"We’ve forged nearly ten million sets," Lillian said, her face showing a hint of pain. "It cost a fortune to make all these."
These special items, which could conceal a player’s title and name—and even provide them with a secondary appearance—were each worth a hefty sum.
"If it can create our tenth Strongest, it will all be worth it." Zhu Xiuming withdrew his gaze. "He cleared the twenty-second floor of the Nether Trial, so his level should be around Level 16.
"Distribute the Concealing Masks for free to all players between Level 10 and Level 20 across all Main Cities as a welfare benefit from the Divine Revelation Hall."
"Yes," Lillian nodded slightly.
After finalizing the details of the Universal Light plan, Zhu Xiuming turned his gaze to Ji Ruoxu beside him. "How is the fishing going?"
"The bait has been cast." A Golden light flashed briefly in Ji Ruoxu’s eyes. "I arranged for a talented rookie player to contact him and sell five pieces of Level 5 Master Level Equipment for one hundred million apiece."
That talented rookie player was a Warrior. Previously, just like Yu Zhun, he had been on the list of suspected Open and Aboveboard talent possessors. Furthermore, before Yu Zhun exposed himself, this player had the highest probability of possessing the Open and Aboveboard talent on that list.
As for those five pieces of Level 5 Master Level Equipment, they were scraped together by various players who had entered the Nether Trial, each contributing a piece.
"If nothing unexpected happens, those Rats should already be plotting an assassination or some other scheme.
"I’ve already arranged personnel to provide the highest level of protection for that player, and I’ve sent people to keep a close eye on those Rats.
"This time, we will definitely pull them up by the roots!"
At this, the usually gentle and refined Ji Ruoxu’s eyes flashed with a rare, chilling killing intent.
"What about the player who sold the Equipment?" Zhu Xiuming asked with an inquiring look.
"He’s the child of one of our Divine Revelation Hall’s elite players. He volunteered for this. The five hundred million goes to him; we won’t take it back."
"Mhm..." Zhu Xiuming nodded slightly. "He’s a good kid. We’ll give him some additional rewards after this is over."
After all, sticking one’s neck out as a decoy at this critical juncture carried immense risks.
"Ji, count me in when we wipe out their nest," Asoka spoke in a deep voice. His blood-red eyes were profoundly cold, and as his icy killing intent surged, the surrounding temperature instantly plummeted. "This time, I’m bringing the people from Assassin’s Creed to grind these Rats to dust!"
Many High Tier guilds in the Divine Revelation World were directly or indirectly controlled by the Divine Revelation Hall. The strongest among them were undoubtedly the five major Profession guilds. Each of these five major Profession guilds was a Five-star Guild, the highest guild rank possible. They only recruited the most elite players of their corresponding basic Profession, and their guild leaders were none other than the Strongest themselves.
Assassin’s Creed was the guild belonging to the Assassin Series among the five major Profession guilds. Any random member pulled from their ranks was an absolute killing machine.
"No problem." A strange smile flashed through Ji Ruoxu’s eyes.
The possessor of the SSS-rank talent this time was an Assassin, so this old guy was getting anxious. He had never been this proactive in the past.

"Sixty million..."
Looking at the money that had finally arrived in his account after all that tossing and turning, a smile uncontrollably spread across Yu Zhun’s face.
Completely unaware that Blue Star’s Strongest had orchestrated a series of massive layouts upon learning his identity, Yu Zhun reviewed the process of his communication and trade with Ji Xiaoyu, then quickly deleted the burner account he had just used.
"With this money, I can buy a house," he thought.
The image of a young Yu Zhuzhu dreaming of living in a villa with a garden flashed through his mind, and his smile grew warmer. Buying a house like that wasn’t cheap; it easily cost millions or even tens of millions. The old Yu Zhun wouldn’t have even dared to think about it, but now... he could truly afford it, and it wouldn’t even break the bank.
"Yu Zhun, what kind of daydream are you having?"
Yu Zhu pushed open the bedroom door. Seeing Yu Zhun’s silly, beaming face, she frowned in disgust and tossed a stack of freshly printed, still-warm guides into his arms. "Here, the guide to Divine Strategy City."
"This took me forty-nine whole minutes, and I spent..." Watching Yu Zhun expertly pinch the stack of paper to gauge its thickness, the words Yu Zhu was about to say instantly caught in her throat.
"How much did you spend?" he asked.
"Thir... thirty-one yuan!" Yu Zhu felt a bit guilty. She shouldn’t have been scammed by Old Zhang at the print shop this time, right?
Yu Zhun didn’t say a word. After flipping through the pages, he couldn’t help but sigh. "Old Zhang made a killing of seven yuan off you again."
"How is that possible?" Yu Zhu’s eyes went wide. "I was watching him!"
"You printed in color, but ten of these pages have no pictures, only text. He printed them in black and white but charged you the color printing price."
Yu Zhu was speechless. "AHHH! That despicable Old Zhang!"
Watching Yu Zhu stamp her feet in anger, Yu Zhun gave a helpless smile. He placed the guide on the desk, stood up, and grabbed her hand. "Let’s go. We’re eating out, and we’ll order an extra meat dish today."
"Alright!"
The very next second, the previously teeth-gnashing Yu Zhu broke into a radiant smile and scampered eagerly out the door after Yu Zhun.
"I think when you enter the Divine Revelation World in the future, your awakened talent will definitely be face-changing," Yu Zhun teased.
"Oh, that doesn’t matter. Can we order braised pork? I saw the next table order it last time, and it smelled so good!"
"...Sure."
"You’re the best, Yu Zhun!"
