Chapter 362: Chapter 129: Wang Ge’s mother and Priestess Mother Have Collided, Urgent, Waiting Online
But the Corpse Core in its brain was still slowly turning, maintaining a faint resonance with its master’s soul at an extremely low energy cost.
As long as Lynch willed it, he could awaken it at any moment.
Lynch leaned on the edge of the coffin for a moment. After confirming that all of Xuan Yi’s vital signs were stable and the Corpse Core was functioning normally, he turned and left the Sleeping Tomb.
He was so tired.
Right now, his fatigue wasn’t just physical and mental; it was a deeper exhaustion that came from the soul.
He dragged his heavy feet up to the second floor, pushed open the door, and, without even changing out of his robes, threw himself onto the large bed with its thick, soft mattress.
Dragon Flame poked its head out of its animal-hide nest, let out two barks, "WOOF WOOF," and when Lynch didn’t react, it ducked back in to continue sleeping.
Lynch closed his eyes, his consciousness beginning to blur.
Before he fell asleep, his last thought was: ’Splitting a soul really hurts. Next time I make a second Lifebound Profound Corpse, I have to prepare some painkillers in advance...’
Then, he knew nothing more.
He did not sleep soundly.
Lynch had many chaotic dreams.
He dreamed of the year he had just transmigrated, lying in his dorm at Hurst Academy, the hidden injury in his chest from that Holy Light bastard, Leon, still aching with every breath.
He dreamed of squatting furtively at the base of the Holy Maiden Convent’s wall, practicing with his Skeleton Soldiers. Back then, he hadn’t even reached Tier One. His Mana pool was as shallow as a washbasin, forcing him to drink an Awakening Potion after just a few moves, and he was up to his ears in debt to big brother Copperbeard.
He dreamed of being near Water Bridge, watching Catherine block the way alone on horseback, her battle robes whipping in the wind, her Holy Light brilliant.
He also dreamed of the Moon Priestess, after possessing Sea Song, looking at him with eyes that flowed with silver moonlight and saying, "You are the most shameless person I have ever met."
He dreamed of Bone Valor.
Its Soul Fire flickered dimly as it asked him, "Master, when can I become a Witch Demon King!?"
Suddenly.
Lynch jolted and opened his eyes.
Outside the window, the sky was already bright.
His forehead was beaded with a thin layer of sweat, and his heart was beating a little fast.
He lay in bed for a long while, letting his sluggish brain slowly come back online. Then, he pushed himself up and sat on the edge of the bed, rubbing the space between his eyebrows.
A flickering light in the corner of his eye caught his attention. He looked up and saw that the runes on his Magic Mailbox were blinking.
Someone had sent a letter.
Lynch immediately threw off the covers, walked over to his desk, sat down, and took the letter from the mailbox.
The letter was encrypted. The wax seal was stamped with a sigil he recognized—the personal contact Seal he had given to Angus Fisher himself.
Lynch’s brow twitched. He immediately broke the wax seal and unfolded the letter.
Angus’s handwriting was as restrained and cautious as ever. Tiny, densely packed words filled three pages, without a single wasted sentence.
[To Lord Lynch:]
[It has been half a year since we parted at Red Ridge Castle. Thank you for your concern; Fisher is well. I have now earned the trust of "Bloody Hand" Johnny and have incorporated some of the routed soldiers and families of the former Blue Crow Battle Group under my command. I currently command about two thousand troops, stationed approximately seventy *li* from Grey Stone Pass.]
[Half a month ago, Johnny issued me formal combat orders: my unit is to coordinate with the Iron Fang Battle Group and the Dark Thorn Battle Group to launch a sustained offensive against the Iron Wall Battle Group defending Grey Stone Pass. My unit’s specific mission is...]
Lynch’s gaze fell on the section detailing the strategic descriptions of troop deployment, attack routes, and so on, and his brow gradually tightened.
The Iron Fang Battle Group had over five thousand men, a complete organization, and excellent equipment. It was one of the Blue Scarf’s main forces in Sardinia Province.
The Dark Thorn Battle Group was also very powerful. Its leader, "Black Thorn," was a Tier Five Fallen Ranger, elusive and extraordinarily strong.
And Angus, on paper, also had two thousand men under his command.
In total, the Blue Scarf forces directly assailing Grey Stone Pass already exceeded twelve thousand.
Lynch recalled a letter he had received from his senior, Amadis, a few days ago. In it, she had briefly described her recent situation and had indeed mentioned that the Iron Wall Battle Group’s recent battles had been difficult and they were under great pressure.
However, at the time, Lynch had been at the most critical moment of refining his Lifebound Profound Corpse and had no time to pay much attention.
He just never expected that the "great pressure" his senior Amadis had casually mentioned in a few brief words in her letter actually meant *this*.
The pressure on the Iron Wall Battle Group was immense.
He frowned and continued reading.
Angus’s handwriting seemed to have become more forceful.
[However, there are many strange things about this battle. The more I consider them, the more uneasy I become, and I am thus sending this secret report.]
[First, "Bloody Hand" Johnny and his main forces are not participating in this offensive. This man is on good terms with Blue Crow, the leader of the Blue Crow Battle Group. Furthermore, the Blue Crow Battle Group has not deployed any organized units this time, merely sending over a thousand of its old and weak to be mixed in with the cannon fodder battalions.]
[Second, Johnny specifically hinted that I should position my unit far from the main attack routes of the Iron Fang and Dark Thorn battle groups. This stance of "not trying to claim credit for successes, nor taking the blame for failures" makes him seem like a completely different person from his usual arrogant self.]
[Third...]
Lynch’s eyes froze on the next line of text.
[Third, I secretly sent men to investigate and discovered that a large amount of their war materials are not being transported toward Grey Stone Pass, but are instead being sent to the northwest.]
’Northwest?’
Lynch had a sudden realization.
From Bloody Hand Johnny’s headquarters in Iron Hammer Town, heading northwest... wasn’t that the direction of Gray Claw Gorge and Lakefront Town?
Just as he thought.
