Chapter 359: Chapter 129: Wang Ge’s Mother and the Sacrifice Mother Collided—An Emergency
"This feels a bit like entering Super Body Mode," Lynch muttered, his voice a mixture of indescribable shock and excitement. ’Damn, this is absurdly strong, isn’t it?’
The Profound Corpse gazed back at him in silence.
There was no hint of emotion.
But Lynch knew it wasn’t apathy or detachment. It was because this physical shell had no independent "self."
It *was* him.
It was another one of his hands, another of his legs, another pair of his eyes.
’Yes, that’s exactly what it feels like.’
’It’s strange.’
’It was as if he’d suddenly grown two extra legs and another pair of eyes, and he couldn’t get used to it at all.’
Lynch took a moment to compose himself. He decided to focus on acclimatizing to the new senses, starting with the most basic exercises.
He had the Profound Corpse lift its right leg.
’Wait.’
’Something feels off.’ Lynch looked down, only to realize he had lifted his own right leg as well.
He was moving in clumsy unison.
Lynch froze for a second, then quickly lowered his own right leg and focused his attention entirely on the Profound Corpse.
The Profound Corpse’s raised right leg slowly lowered and took a step forward. The sound of its heavy, powerful footfall echoed through the quiet chamber.
The sensation was extraordinary, a world apart from micromanaging his Undead Units via a mental link.
When micromanaging a Bone Valor, he had to issue clear commands, such as "Move five meters to the left," "Attack target," or "Halt."
He also had to clearly designate a target when ordering an attack.
Then, he had to wait for the Skeleton’s own will to carry out the command, which always resulted in a half-beat delay.
The feeling was similar to controlling troops in a video game with a mouse and keyboard; there was always a layer of separation.
But the Profound Corpse was different.
He didn’t need to issue any commands.
He only needed to *think*.
If he wanted it to lift its leg, it lifted its leg.
If he wanted it to clench its fist, it clenched its fist.
If he wanted it to turn its head in a certain direction, its neck would swivel, and the Soul Fire in its eye sockets would instantly lock onto the target with pinpoint accuracy.
Every action was as natural as moving his own limbs.
’No, not "like" moving his own limbs. These *are* his limbs.’
The more Lynch adapted, the more wondrous it felt.
He had the Profound Corpse pace back and forth in the quiet chamber: from the doorway to the stone sarcophagus, around the sarcophagus to the edge of the array, and then back again.
The Profound Corpse was like a new set of limbs. Aside from the occasional, clumsy misstep and his unfamiliarity with its strength and stride, he could control it without any issues.
As time went on, his clumsy movements became less frequent. The Profound Corpse’s gait, once heavy and sluggish, gradually grew fluid and steady.
He had the Profound Corpse raise its arms and perform basic movements: flexing and extending, rotating, opening and closing.
The Profound Corpse’s bones CRACKLED as its resilient tendons tightened and relaxed like steel cables.
Next, he had the Profound Corpse attempt a jump.
BOOM!
With a slight push from its feet, the Profound Corpse shattered a stone slab on the floor. Its massive body shot nearly two meters into the air, its head nearly crashing into the ceiling.
Lynch was startled. He frantically directed the Profound Corpse to raise a hand and brace itself against the ceiling.
In his panic, as the Profound Corpse landed, Lynch’s own body subconsciously bent its knees to absorb the impact.
The Profound Corpse bent its knees at the same time.
Perfect sync.
Lynch managed to stay on his feet and couldn’t help but break into a wide grin.
’Worth it.’
’So damn worth it.’
’The twenty-four mid-grade Negative Energy Crystals he’d used up over the last two months, the sleepless nights spent leeching off Yenogu to the point of mental exhaustion—all of it was worth it.’
’Even the excruciating pain from having his soul ripped in half moments ago was worth it.’
He turned his head, his gaze falling on the Corpse Demon standing guard five meters away, which had remained on high alert the entire time.
The Corpse Demon was already beginning to resemble a bronze-armored corpse. Its skin was transitioning from a purplish-bronze to a pure bronze hue, and a few plates of natural, keratinous armor had even formed over vital areas like its chest, abdomen, back, and joints.
It was Lynch’s strongest individual combatant, second only to Esther.
In terms of raw strength and defense, the Corpse Demon even surpassed Esther. After all, that girl was of the Blood Race; her fighting style was more akin to an assassin’s, and direct, head-on brawls were never her forte.
A thought sparked in Lynch’s mind.
The Profound Corpse immediately turned to face the Corpse Demon.
Deep within its eye sockets, the eerie green Soul Fire pulsed gently.
Lynch’s own body retreated to the other side of the chamber, leaning against the wall. Then, he issued a command to the Corpse Demon through their mental link.
’Approach.’
The Soul Fire in the Corpse Demon’s eye sockets flickered. It then began striding toward the Profound Corpse with heavy steps.
The ground trembled slightly with each of its footfalls.
In just a few strides, the behemoth—nearly four meters tall and weighing over a thousand pounds—came to a steady halt in front of the Profound Corpse.
Lynch raised an eyebrow, suddenly noticing something.
The Corpse Demon was tall.
Its shoulders were broad, its back thick, and its legs were as sturdy as pillars. It had been the tallest and most formidable of all his zombies. But now, standing before the Profound Corpse, it somehow looked... small.
The Profound Corpse was a full head taller than the Corpse Demon.
Its shoulders were slightly narrower than the Corpse Demon’s—Abyssal Demons, after all, had a more streamlined, humanoid build. But its height, which exceeded four meters, combined with the restrained yet oppressive Evil Qi radiating from its body, made the Corpse Demon’s brawny physique seem almost clumsy by comparison.
The two undead behemoths faced off in the cramped chamber.
Through the Profound Corpse’s eyes, Lynch could clearly "see" the Soul Fire in the Corpse Demon’s sockets tremble, betraying a flicker of instinctual dread.
