Chapter 325: Chapter 123: The Death Codex! Lynch Has an Inheritance

[I must solemnly remind you once again, and I implore you to remember this: In the early stages, the paths of your predecessors—including my own path, and even that of Master Sandro—can serve as your guide and a model to emulate. They will help you accumulate power and understand the rules more quickly. However, once you reach a certain level, especially when you touch the threshold of the Saint Tier, blindly following in another’s footsteps may instead restrain your future development. Our paths may even become shackles that bind you.]

[A truly powerful individual must find a path that is their own. My Profound Yin Body Refining Spell was created based on my own understanding and vision; it may not be a perfect fit for you. Master Sandro’s Death Codex is vast and profound, but it is merely his personal interpretation of death. You need to absorb and internalize these works, but you must also question them. Then, by combining your own experiences, your worldview, and your understanding of the nature of power, you must forge a path of death that is uniquely your own.]

[An imitator will always face a limit, but a trailblazer will see a boundless horizon. Remember this. Remember this well.]

[As I write these words, I am preparing to depart for the depths of the Nether River. The path ahead is uncertain and fraught with unknown perils. I do not know whether I will live or die on this journey, nor how many years will have passed by the time you read this letter. If I fail to return... then I have either been eternally lost somewhere within the Nether River, or I have perished completely. This letter and this legacy are the final proof of my existence, as well as... a sliver of hope for a future that may yet be.]

[Finally, I have a favor to ask. Or, perhaps it is better to call it a commission that comes with a reward.]

[When your power reaches Tier Seven or higher, and you have the means to protect yourself and the basic ability to explore Other Planes, I ask that you—if you are willing—make a trip to the Eternal Slumber Canyon in my stead and see the place where Alice is sealed.]

[I have placed a Soul Map leading to the canyon inside the Death Codex, along with a specially crafted Plane Beacon. It will guide you to the weakest connection point between the prime material plane and that region of the Netherworld, allowing you to enter.]

[Of course, I will not have you make this trip for nothing. I have left a Half-Sacred Artifact, the [Pale Crown], as well as a portion of the resources I had set aside to maintain the seal, within that tomb. If you are able to reach it, they are all yours—a reward for your troubles.]

[Whatever state you find Alice in, whatever you decide to do, I leave it to you to judge based on the circumstances. My only hope is that someone can see her one last time in my place and confirm her condition. This is... my final lingering wish.]

[—Lester]

The long letter finally came to an end.

Lynch stood there quietly, the stack of papers in his hand feeling as heavy as lead. A storm of emotions raged within him, and it was a long while before he could find his calm.

Shock, admiration, wistfulness, sorrow, solemnity... A tangle of emotions left him stunned for a long time.

This compatriot he had never met had left him more than just a generous inheritance; he had given him guidance for the path ahead.

With the utmost gravity, he carefully put the letter away in his Space Ring.

’Senior Lester... no, Teacher,’ Lynch thought. ’From this day forward, you are my teacher.’

’I have received what you have left behind. I will study the path you walked. Your regrets... I will take them to heart. When the day comes that I am strong enough, I will personally go to the [Eternal Slumber Canyon] to pay my respects to my teacher’s wife and fulfill your final wish.’

Once the promise was made, his mind grew clear and his resolve solidified.

Lynch’s gaze grew serene once more. He turned and picked up the legacy of the [Death Codex].

The road ahead was long and fraught with hardship.

But with this legacy and charge, a gift that transcended time and space, he, Lynch Blackwood, would walk with a steadier gait, his gaze fixed on the distant stars and the Abyss beyond.

Just as Lynch’s heart was pounding with excitement, as if he could already see the path to legend beckoning him...

The aloof Moon Priestess at his side suddenly spoke, her voice flowing like liquid moonlight. "It seems the legacy you’ve received carries considerable weight. Even I can sense the profound and inscrutable nature of the primal laws of death it contains."

Lynch was inwardly startled, but his expression remained impassive.

With a mere thought, the Death Codex in his hands vanished, stored away in his Space Ring.

He turned and bowed respectfully to the Moon Priestess once more. "It is all thanks to your discerning eyes, Revered Mother, for eliminating the hidden threat. Only then could I accept this legacy with a peace of mind."

The Moon Priestess gave Lynch another long, searching look but said no more, only leaving him with a cool parting remark: "Remember what you once told me."

As her words faded, the silver glow in Sea Song’s eyes rapidly receded.

Her body swayed, and she let out a soft breath. Her face was now visibly pale and weak, but the gentleness had returned to her eyes.

"My Lord, the revered Song of Elune has departed," Sea Song reported, bowing to Lynch.

"Thank you for your trouble, Sea Song," Lynch said gently. "Avril, help Sea Song back so she can get some rest."

After watching Avril and Sea Song depart, Lynch was in no mood to linger.

He ordered the Corpse Demon to carry the stone coffin to the Sleeping Tomb. After bidding farewell to Aus, he hurried back to his room on the second floor of the garrison with Ghost Yi and Esther.

Only after closing the door to his room did Lynch finally allow his heart to pound wildly in his chest.

He couldn’t wait to study the *Death Codex*, especially the [Profound Yin Body Refining Spell] recorded within.
