That's How We Necromancers Do Things
Chapter 311 - 121: Dominator of Death! Advent
Catherine barely avoided the shrapnel, diving behind a low wall just in time. Still, the blast showered her in dirt and dust, leaving her face grimy.
Wiping the grime from her face, she looked up at the Goblin Airship flaunting its power in the sky, her heart a mix of shock and fury.
The range and power of the cannons on this Goblin Airship far exceeded her expectations. The camp's existing fortifications were as flimsy as paper before it.
"Gu Yuji!" she yelled, ordering the Skeleton Archers. "Take your squad, find a vantage point, and try to hit the airship's gasbag or propellers. Don't fight it head-on. Focus on harassment."
The eerie green Soul Fire in Gu Yuji's eye sockets flickered. It immediately led the Skeleton Archers through the chaotic camp, moving quickly toward a higher, rocky area to the rear.
However, the moment the aerial bombardment let up, a ground assault began.
"RAAAAAGH~~~"
"Kill! Pillage!~~"
A dense swarm of green-skinned figures charged down from the hills ahead. They brandished all kinds of weapons, shrieking as they rushed the camp through the multiple breaches blown in its defenses.
It was a large goblin force—at least seven or eight hundred by the looks of it.
Mixed in with them were numerous large-bodied Bear Goblins, as well as some well-equipped goblin warriors with ferocious gazes.
Driving this goblin horde was a figure floating behind their ranks.
It was a humanoid creature with a sinuous figure and a pair of wings sprouting from its back.
Its skin was a deathly gray-white, and two clusters of eerie green Soul Fire burned in its eyes. Its entire being radiated a dense aura of death.
She held a long, bone whip, which she cracked from time to time. CRACK! She would also open her mouth to unleash piercing, high-pitched shrieks.
The shrieks were sharp and piercing, carrying powerful psychic waves.
Any goblin caught in the waves of her shriek would have the fear and timidity in its eyes replaced by frenzy and chaos. They became fearless, and both their charging speed and their ferocity increased dramatically.
This was none other than an Undead Demoness from the Netherworld, an exceedingly rare creature on the Pan-Continent.
Behind the charging goblin force were a dozen or so goblin Shamans wearing crowns of bone and feathers.
They waved their Magic Staffs, casting streaks of blood-red light over their kin ahead.
That was the goblin Shamans' signature ability: the Bloodthirst Skill.
Besides the Bloodthirst Skill, they also periodically summoned Fireballs, wind blades, and lightning, using elemental attack Magic to support the charging goblins with a ranged bombardment.
But what was even more unsettling was that, trailing leisurely behind this massive goblin tide, were several dozen figures.
They wore mismatched sets of armor, but each had a blue scarf draped casually around their neck.
Though not numerous, every one of them exuded a capable aura and had an indifferent gaze, a stark contrast to the chaotic goblin mob ahead.
Among them were Warlocks and Mages holding Magic Staffs, surrounded by swirling elemental energies. There were also burly, powerful Warriors with great-axes or warhammers slung across their backs.
There were even a few Wanderers in dark leather armor, with an assortment of daggers and swords at their waists.
However, they showed no intention of joining the charge. Instead, they strolled leisurely behind the battle, like a group of tourists on an outing.
As they walked, they pointed and gestured at the bloody, chaotic battlefield before them, chatting idly as if it were none of their concern.
"Tsk. This bunch of green-skin trash... there sure are a lot of them," a purple-robed Warlock sneered, toying with a slowly spinning ball of shadow energy in his hand."
"With that Netherworld Undead Demoness driving them, it's not like they have a choice but to fight for their lives." A red-robed Elemental Mage shrugged. His gaze swept over the grotesque Undead Demoness in the sky, a flicker of apprehension in his eyes. "I heard this Demoness came from the [Realm of the Dead]. She represents the will of some Saint Tier powerhouse."
"Exactly." One of the Blue Scarves, a Wanderer, chimed in, lowering his voice. "I heard the higher-ups made a deal with that Saint Tier Undead lord. If we help him find a certain 'relic' here in the Angelo Mountains, he'll send an even stronger Undead Legion to back us up... When that happens, we'll be able to smash through the North Wind Legion's blockade and raid the heart of the Empire."
"I see." The purple-robed Warlock raised an eyebrow, a look of sudden understanding on his face. "A 'relic' that even a Saint Tier Undead lord is after... must be something extraordinary. No wonder this is such a huge operation. They even drew in that pack of hyenas from the Venture Company. Still, what kind of treasure could possibly be in this godforsaken place, aside from mud and green-skins?"
"Who knows?" The Elemental Mage yawned, looking completely unconcerned. "And who cares? Whatever treasure it is, it has nothing to do with us. We just finish the mission, get paid, and get out. This dump gets on my nerves after a while. Not even a decent woman in sight... Oh, unless you have peculiar tastes and want to try a female Giant? I hear the females from some of the Giant tribes are quite... robust. Haha!"
At his words, the surrounding Blue Scarves broke into low, knowing laughter.
Their tones were light, as if the slaughter unfolding before them had nothing to do with them—as if it were merely a sideshow for their amusement.
