That's How We Necromancers Do Things
Chapter 279 - 117: Moon Priestess! Elune’s Song: Seren Hill
Chapter 279: Chapter 117: Moon Priestess! Elune’s Song: Seren Hill
The Tier Four guard leader, Cam Leisuo, along with several Tier Three guards and enforcers, charged forward with bloodshot eyes, empowered by the blessings of the Holy Priests. In an instant, their battle auras flared as they drew their blades.
The Corpse Demon also roared and charged forward.
Even Bloodfang, who had lost a leg, followed closely, charging ahead by hopping on its one remaining limb.
Esther, who had just been sent flying, had now recovered. Letting out a furious whimper, she transformed into a blood-red blur and charged again, specifically aiming for weak points like its eyes and the wounds seared by the Hellfire!
At the same time, a torrent of arrows, bone spears, Fireballs, ice cones, and wind blades rained down on Grom like a storm. Mixed in were skeletal spells and hexes, as well as Lynch’s own relentless casting of Weakness Curse, Pain Curse, and other such spells.
Under the continuous sear of the Hellfire and the assault from all sides, the once seemingly indestructible Abyssal Demon rapidly weakened.
Its giant bat-like wings were naturally a primary target. They were soon riddled with holes from the impacts of Holy Light Warhammers, the slashes of sharp blades, and the barrage of countless ranged attacks.
After losing its ability to fly, Grom’s movements became even more sluggish.
Although each of its counterattacks could still send Black Corpses flying and repel the Holy Knights, its room to maneuver was inevitably and drastically reduced under the relentless siege of the Sea of Skulls.
As time passed, the wounds on its body grew more numerous and deeper. Its dark red demonic blood soaked the soil beneath it, causing the weeds to quickly wither and turn yellow under the corruption of its Abyssal Energy.
With their Holy Light shields, various buffs and enhancements from the Holy Priests, and the powerful defense of their Holy Light Armor, the two Holy Knights had unknowingly replaced the Purple Zombies as the strongest frontliners. They actually managed to hold their ground against the wingless Grom.
It was a desperate struggle, but they were holding their ground.
Moreover, their Holy Light was naturally effective against Abyssal Creatures. Every time their warhammers struck Grom, some of the Abyssal Aura at the wound would dissipate, inflicting additional damage.
The Tier Four Holy Priest had become the linchpin of the battlefield. He constantly cast healing Divine Arts to maintain the frontline Warriors’ health, occasionally unleashing a Holy Light Blast or Divine Punishment to inflict new wounds on Grom.
Avril had now reached Lynch’s side.
She immediately raised her hand, preparing to use the last charge of the Tier Five Spear of Holy Light from her Ring of Holy Light, but Lynch stopped her.
Given the current situation, a single Spear of Holy Light would be nothing more than icing on the cake.
She had already summoned a Guardian Angel twice in a short time, so her Angel Statue no longer had enough energy for another summoning; it would need time to recharge.
It was better to save this last Spear of Holy Light for a life-or-death situation than to use it now.
However, Avril didn’t remain idle. She started healing and casting blessings on the frontline Warriors, keeping herself more than busy.
As for Lynch, he maintained a safe distance, alternately casting Weakness Curse and Pain Curse.
Both skills were approaching the Level 5 cap, and their debilitating effect on Grom was quite significant.
Although its body, transformed by Abyssal Energy, had extremely high resistance to Curses and their effects were quickly and largely negated, the constant casting still effectively disrupted its movements, creating opportunities for the frontline Warriors.
Lynch’s skeleton army was now truly demonstrating the Necromancer’s most terrifying tactic: a war of attrition waged by a Sea of Skulls.
Hundreds and thousands of Skeleton Soldiers surged towards Grom in wave after wave, like a white tide.
They hacked with Bone Knives, slammed into it with their bodies, and even used their shattered frames to obstruct Grom’s legs.
Even though they fell in droves, reduced to piles of shattered bone, more Skeletons immediately surged forward to fill the gaps.
Their presence severely restricted Grom’s movement and ability to attack, creating the perfect opportunity for the Holy Knights, guards, and Purple Zombies to strike.
The outcome of the battle was no longer in doubt.
Grom, in its Abyssal Demon form, had indeed reached the terrifying level of Tier Seven. But first, it was caught off guard and heavily wounded by Lynch’s Tier Seven Hellfire, and then it was besieged by a saturation of attacks from all sides. A comeback was now nothing more than a fantasy.
It continued to roar and struggle. Each counterattack wiped out a large swath of Skeletons and left deep dents in the Holy Knights’ Armor, but its movements grew ever slower as its wounds multiplied.
Finally, a powerful pounce from the Corpse Demon and the crashing warhammers of the two Holy Knights struck it at almost the same instant.
Grom let out a piercing wail, its massive body suddenly stiffened, and then it crashed to the ground.
It was dead!
At almost the same moment, the shouts of battle from other areas of the battlefield quickly died down.
Under the charge of the allied human forces led by Ophelia and Catherine, the leaderless Gnoll troops’ morale completely collapsed. They were quickly broken up and annihilated.
The last Tier Four Gnoll Centurion putting up a desperate resistance fell to a volley from the musketeers and the blade of Catherine’s sword.
As for the "Blood Claw Priest" who had started it all, he had died at some unknown point, quietly cut down by stray blades and bullets. His body, lost in a pile of Gnoll corpses, was almost unrecognizable.
