Chapter 272: Chapter 116: My Precious Granddaughter Is Yours, Feel Free to Use Her~

"Eleanor Frost is hereby officially transferred to the Ninth Battalion of the Thirteenth Battle Group, North Wind Legion, to be placed under the command of Battalion Commander Lynch. Lord Lynch, this time... you won’t turn me down again, will you?"

He put on a mock-serious face. "I’m an easygoing man, but even I’d be upset if the same person turned me down twice in a row."

Lynch took the transfer order, and the corner of his mouth twitched as he saw the seal and signature.

He gave Edmund a wry smile. "Lord Edmund, you just called me a fox... but what little cunning I have is nothing compared to yours. It’s like a firefly trying to outshine the moon."

’This old fox!’

’This wasn’t as simple as sending his granddaughter here for experience.’

’He was clearly using this reconciliation as an opportunity to strengthen his ties with me. You could even call it a subtle investment.’

’Placing the most outstanding member of his clan’s younger generation under my command was a show of trust, as well as an invisible bond.’

"Haha, don’t be so modest, young man." Edmund laughed heartily and clapped Lynch on the shoulder. "I’m leaving her with you. Command her as you see fit. Even if she has some bad luck on the battlefield... that’s her own fate. The Frost Clan will absolutely not blame you."

Without giving Eleanor a chance to object, he swung himself onto his Griffin and waved to his granddaughter, whose eyes were rimmed with red. "Eleanor, get some good experience, and listen to Lord Lynch. Grandpa will be back to see you!"

With that, the Griffin beneath him gave a powerful flap of its wings, kicking up a fierce wind as it swiftly ascended and flew toward the northern horizon.

"Grandpa~!!"

Eleanor took two steps after him, and as she watched the rapidly shrinking silhouette, tears finally streamed down her face.

Waves of cold air emanated from her uncontrollably, and in moments, a small patch of frost formed at her feet. She looked both aggrieved and helpless.

Lynch watched this scene and sighed helplessly.

’Alright, what’s done is done. I can’t send her back, so I’ll just have to accept it.’

’Still, even though Edmund said to "command her as I see fit" and that it was "her own fate" if she had bad luck... if I actually got his precious granddaughter killed, would that Tier Seven Peak "Frost Master" still be so reasonable?’

Therefore, Lynch had no intention of sending the young woman to risk her life on the front lines.

After a moment of thought, he said to Eleanor, "Miss Eleanor, since the Chief Consultant has given his orders, you will remain in Lakefront Town for the time being. You’re quite powerful—a Tier Two Peak Ice Element Mage is exactly the kind of talent we’re in urgent need of."

He turned to Aus, who had been following close behind. "Aus, I’m putting you in charge of Miss Eleanor’s arrangements. See which department would be a good fit and have her familiarize herself with the operations in Lakefront Town. Remember, prioritize paperwork, logistics, or assisting with training. No combat assignments for now."

"Yes, my lord."

Aus acknowledged the order respectfully, then made a gentle gesture toward Eleanor, who still seemed somewhat dazed. "Miss Eleanor, please come with me. I’ll show you around and arrange your accommodations."

Eleanor wiped away her tears. Though extremely reluctant, she knew that military orders were absolute and her grandfather’s decision was irreversible. Right now, she could do nothing but obey.

She shot Lynch a dark look before turning to follow Aus, her back held ramrod straight, radiating stubborn defiance.

Lynch sighed helplessly.

’He could already imagine his garrison was in for another round of excitement.’

After dealing with Edmund’s sudden "gift," Lynch returned to the garrison and headed straight for the dungeon on the second basement level.

The dungeon was as dim as ever.

The moment Lynch’s figure appeared at the entrance to the corridor, a commotion erupted among the prisoners in the cells.

"Lynch! Lord Lynch, I’m begging you, please let me out! I know I was wrong! I’ll pay compensation! Ten times—no, a hundred times!" Fritz, a man with a small mustache, was the first to throw himself against the bars, his face a mess of tears as he pleaded.

The days in the black cells had completely stripped him of his useless aristocratic arrogance.

"Shut up and stay put!" The cold-faced officer immediately stepped forward and raised his whip.

CRACK!

"Aargh!!"

Fritz cried out in pain as he was struck again, shrinking back into his cell, not daring to make another sound.

The dungeon fell quiet for a moment. Everyone watched Lynch with complex expressions, a flicker of anticipation hidden in their eyes.

’Lynch hadn’t shown his face in so long. Now that he was suddenly here, could it be... that he was finally willing to negotiate?’

Lynch paid no mind to their thoughts. He walked to the center of the corridor, his cold gaze sweeping over cell after cell, ensuring he had everyone’s attention before he began to speak.

"A moment ago, Lord Edmund Frost, the Chief Magic Consultant of the North Wind Legion, was here."

For a split second, the dungeon was silent. Then, a violent commotion erupted.

"The Chief Consultant was here?!"

"Excellent! The Legion has finally sent someone!"

"We’re saved~!"

Fritz, especially, grew agitated, a wild hope flaring in his eyes. "I knew it! The North Wind Legion wouldn’t abandon us! Lynch, are you scared now? Just wait until the Chief Consultant... Aargh!!"

Before he could finish, the officer’s whip struck like a viper, lashing through the bars and making him cry out as he clutched his head again.

"All of you, be quiet!" the officer roared, cracking the whip in the air for emphasis.
