That Day When Suzuki-kun Wasn't the Mob-B!
Chapter 362: The Seraph’s Judgment
It possessed twelve majestic, glowing wings sprouting from its back. Its towering figure was humanoid, clad in divine, immaculate armor that signified an absolute, supreme status—a being standing high above all other angels, transcending even their leaders. Yet, looking at its breathtaking, perfectly sculpted, and utterly emotionless face, it was undeniably not human. It was a terrifying, holy anomaly that simply shouldn’t exist in this world.
In its left hand, it held a massive set of golden weighing scales. In its right, it gripped a blindingly sharp sword wreathed in a volatile, flaming holy aura.
In that moment, absolutely nothing in the cavern was its equal. It was an entity birthed into this world for a single purpose: to bring absolute, divine punishment to the wicked.
The suffocating, blinding presence instantly became a massive threat. Finn fell silent, his muscular arms tensing as he gripped the hilt of his heavy Claymore, readying himself for battle. But inwardly, his mind was racing in sheer disbelief.
What the hell? A Seraphim? The Archangel Michael?
Finn knew that in the seven years since her defeat, Sorano had abandoned her previous magic. Once a master of Celestial Spirits like Lucy, she had twisted her affinities toward something much darker and far more fanatical: Angel Magic.
Honestly, he didn’t feel the existence of the angel was weird. In a world teeming with Magic, Dragons, and Demons, Angels weren’t much of a stretch. After all, parallel dimensions like Edolas and Elentear existed, alongside literal Gods. There was even God Slayer Magic, and Finn vaguely recalled a Dark Guild in the original timeline attempting to summon a War God.
Naturally, just as there were varying tiers of Dragons—from weak drakes to the invincible Dragon Kings—there were weak and strong deities. The legendary Dark Mage Zeref was cursed by Ankhseram, a God so unfathomably powerful that even Zeref could do nothing but submit to his fate.
But an Angel was a completely different entity. They were the absolute messengers of Heaven, created to violently purge evil and enforce absolute order. And Sorano possessed the terrifying ability to summon one to bring absolute death to anyone who threatened her.
Unlike the relatively gentle Celestial Spirits, which safely fed off a user’s mana reserves, Angel Magic was inherently brutal and parasitic. It aggressively devoured life force. Sorano usually relied on the stolen vitality of her victims, violently siphoning their energy into golden coins to summon her familiars.
But facing the White Devil, Sorano knew holding back meant death. Desperate, she offered up her own.
Her life force was being violently ripped from her womb and chest, manifesting as an agonizing, masochistic ecstasy. Her knees gave out, and she collapsed completely onto the floor. Her sweat-drenched, skimpy white dress clung practically transparent to her heavy, heaving breasts as she gasped for air, sacrificing her very soul to drag this supreme entity—the Seraphim, Michael—into the mortal realm.
I completely underestimated them, Finn thought, gritting his teeth.
He really had. He had looked down on the Reborn Oracion Seis. Sure, they were powerful enough to easily secure S-Rank status in any legal guild, but Finn had assumed that with the Manager and the dimensional connections to his alternate selves, they were just pathetic bugs beneath his boots.
He had grown overwhelmingly powerful, but his arrogance had blinded him. He wasn’t invincible yet. He had been careful, but clearly not careful enough. He never anticipated that this submissive, voluptuous woman, dripping with sweat and desperation, would have the sheer fanaticism required to summon such a calamitous opponent.
Michael, hovering above the ruins, slowly lifted the golden scales in his left hand. His piercing, emotionless eyes locked onto Finn.
Suddenly, a gigantic, ethereal illusion of the scales manifested in the air above them. One side glowed with pure, blinding light; the other was swathed in suffocating darkness. The moment the scales materialized, the dark side violently slammed down, tilting so heavily under the weight of Finn’s sins that it couldn’t rise again.
"Guilty."
That single, vibrating word carried a physical, crushing weight. An indescribable heaviness slammed into the room, pressing Sorano’s sweat-slicked thighs flat against the floor and forcing the air from her lungs. Even Sawyer, bleeding out from his severed legs, temporarily forgot his agonizing pain, staring up at the holy miracle in a completely dazed stupor.
"...."
Finn didn’t say a word.
Michael simply raised a single, armored finger and pointed it directly at Finn’s chest. A blinding, condensed point of holy light flared to life, and then—
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
A gigantic, devastating laser of pure holy energy instantly vaporized the stone pillars and floor beneath Finn’s feet.
But Finn wasn’t there.
"How dangerous," Finn muttered, sliding to a halt several meters away.
How had he dodged a beam of actual light? As Finn had analyzed earlier, raw travel speed was meaningless compared to reaction speed. Michael’s laser traveled at the speed of light, but there was still a microscopic, biological lag before the Seraphim actually fired it. By reading the subtle shift in Michael’s muscle fibers and utilizing his hyper-enhanced reaction speed, Finn had predicted the trajectory and stepped aside milliseconds before the blast was even unleashed.
"Hmm?"
Michael’s emotionless face twitched in faint, angelic surprise. But the divine program operating his mind instantly adjusted. He abandoned precision, unleashing a blinding, overwhelming barrage of holy lasers, bombarding the entire cavern in a desperate attempt to incinerate Finn through sheer quantity.
"Oh, now that’s really dangerous~!" Finn smirked, his adrenaline spiking.
The ruins exploded into a chaotic sea of holy fire. Yet, Finn’s muscular body moved with impossible, fluid grace. He wasn’t just relying on his enhanced Sword Saint physique. With the Manager functioning as a hyper-advanced supercomputer within his mind, his processing speed vastly exceeded human limitations. He calculated every trajectory, every ricochet, and every blast radius, slipping through the deadly grid of lasers completely unscathed, while actively blanketing the entire chamber in Sawyer’s stolen Slow Magic to cripple the Angel’s movements.
Realizing ranged bombardment was useless, Michael had finally had enough.
The Seraphim suddenly blitzed. Moving at true light speed, he appeared directly above Finn, raising his flaming, holy sword high into the air.
It was an absolute, inevitable strike. Nothing could run from it. Nothing could dodge it. The moment Michael swung that blade, reality itself seemed to lock into place.
"Light Sword of Judgment."
As the colossal flaming blade descended, it triggered a localized calamity.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!
The impact was apocalyptic. A terrifying shockwave, carrying the concentrated force of a nuclear warhead, erupted outward. It was an attack entirely focused on erasing Finn Hoen from existence without a single shred of mercy, utilizing searing heat, concussive kinetic force, and a divine edge.
The ruins melted into slag. The shockwave ripped away the remaining fabric of Sorano’s dress, leaving her trembling, bare, and exhausted body entirely exposed to the blistering heat as the surviving Dark Guild members watched the devastating holy fire in absolute, terrified silence.
Sorano had successfully summoned a world-ending calamity. It was over.
But as the deafening roar of the explosion faded, heavy footsteps echoed from the center of the crater.
The dense, swirling smoke parted.
Finn walked out of the holy fire. His expensive suit was entirely burned away, exposing his heavily scarred, aggressively muscular chest and abs. Blood dripped down his chin from a gash on his forehead, his skin scorched and smoking.
But instead of fear, a dark, utterly deranged, and ravenous grin was plastered across his face.
He hadn’t just survived the wrath of Heaven. He had just found the absolute, perfect creature to Take Over.
