Chapter 295 - 110: 10% Commission Per Piece, Qipao and Cape (2)
When Shen Shiyu saw Jiang Li, he stopped chewing on his teether and reached out his arms, wanting to be held.
Shen Yanzhi nodded thoughtfully. "That’s not bad, then. I thought you were just giving it away for free."
Jiang Li remained noncommittal in response to Shen Yanzhi’s words.
Seeing Shen Shiyu’s persistently outstretched arms, she said with a laugh, "Let me hold Zhaozhao for a bit."
Shen Yanzhi loosened his grip, and Jiang Li took the baby. As she cradled Shen Shiyu in her arms, the scent of milk instantly filled her senses.
A three-month-old baby is curious about everything. Noticing a ribbon on Jiang Li’s blouse, he couldn’t help but reach for it. When he couldn’t quite grab it, he started to fuss and squirm in Jiang Li’s arms.
Jiang Li poked Shen Shiyu’s cheek in mock exasperation. "Shen Shiyu, what do you think you’re doing?"
She poked him once, then twice, and couldn’t help but marvel, "I have to admit, no wonder everyone wants skin like a baby’s. It’s so supple and bouncy."
Shen Shiyu must have thought Jiang Li was playing with him. When she stopped poking, he stuck out his lower lip, a pitifully wronged expression on his face.
Shen Yanzhi chuckled. "He’s a baby, of course his skin is good."
Jiang Li poked him a couple more times, making Shen Shiyu giggle. "See? This little guy really likes me."
Watching their interaction, Shen Yanzhi smiled knowingly. "You’re his mother. If he didn’t like you, he’d definitely be in for a spanking."
It seems having Jiang Manshu and the others show Shen Shiyu photos of Jiang Li wasn’t for nothing. It really worked.
Even though Jiang Li hadn’t been around much to take care of him, he still wasn’t a stranger to her.
Jiang Li raised an eyebrow. "He’s so little. Would you really have the heart?"
Shen Yanzhi said frankly, "If he makes my wife unhappy, then yes, I would."
Jiang Li’s face instantly flushed red. ’Thank goodness it’s just the three of us,’ she thought. ’Otherwise, I’d want to find a hole to crawl into and hide.’
She was starting to realize that ever since they had confessed their feelings for each other, Shen Yanzhi had completely let himself go.
He said whatever he pleased, proper or not, with no regard for the time or place.
She shot Shen Yanzhi a playful glare. "You’re shameless!"
Shen Yanzhi, pressing his advantage, replied, "In front of my wife, whether I’m shameless or not is unimportant."
She huffed at Shen Yanzhi. "I can’t be bothered to talk to you. I’m going to go watch Mom and the others play cards." Cradling Shen Shiyu, she headed for the lounge area.
With Shen Yanzhi taking care of the baby, Jiang Manshu, Jing Shiyun, and the others had gotten a mahjong table together.
She walked over to stand behind Jing Shiyun and asked, "How’s the game going?"
Jing Shiyun chuckled. "Sister Man’s luck is on fire."
Jiang Manshu waved her hand dismissively. "Not at all, not at all. It’s just a lucky streak."
"Luck is a component of skill," Jiang Bowen said as he revealed a matching set of tiles.
Jing Shiyun asked casually, "Didn’t Xiao Shen say you had to go out for something? You were gone for so long. What were you up to?"
Jiang Li cleared her throat. "Oh, nothing much. Just had to handle some company business."
’This really isn’t something I can easily talk about.’
Besides, Jing Shiyun already disliked her spending large sums of money. If she found out Jiang Li had set up a research institute, she’d probably blow the roof off.
Jiang Manshu looked at Jiang Li. "If there’s anything we can do to help, you just have to say the word."
Jiang Li nodded. "Don’t worry, Mom. If I need anything, I’ll be sure to ask."
Shen Shiyu must have heard Jiang Manshu’s and Jing Shiyun’s voices, because he started to get restless in Jiang Li’s arms, whimpering and fussing.
Seeing this, Jiang Manshu waved Jiang Li over. "Xiao Li, why don’t you take my spot? I’ll watch the baby for a while."
Shen Yanzhi had taken over after Jiang Li had gone out.
It had been a while since she’d held the baby, and she felt rather unaccustomed to it.
"It’s alright, Mom. You keep playing."
’Jiang Manshu rarely gets a chance to play mahjong. How could I take that away from her?’
Jiang Manshu stood up. "He needs his diaper changed and a feeding, and you don’t know how to do it anyway. Come on, play for a while."
Jiang Li gave an awkward smile. It was true, she really didn’t know how.
The main reason was that she’d never learned. Since Shen Shiyu was born, Jiang Manshu and Jing Shiyun had always been the ones taking care of him.
Jing Shiyun gestured for Jiang Manshu to sit back down. "Sister Man, you stay seated. I’ll get him."
Before Jiang Manshu could reply, she quickly added, "I’ve been sitting for too long anyway, my legs are getting a little stiff."
Hearing that Jing Shiyun’s legs were bothering her, Jiang Li frowned. "Is it serious? Should we go to the hospital?"
Jing Shiyun clicked her tongue. "What hospital? I’ve just been sitting too long, that’s all. I need to get up and stretch my legs."
With that, she decisively took Shen Shiyu from Jiang Li’s arms.
Jiang Li didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, so she sat down. "Should I play your hand for you, then?"
Jing Shiyun said generously, "Go ahead and play for me. Winnings are yours, losses are mine."
With that, she carried Shen Shiyu aside to change his diaper, while Shen Yanzhi stood behind Jiang Li, serving as a silent backdrop.
