Ten Day Ultimatum
Chapter 513
Chapter 513 Reassembled
Under Zhou Six’s guidance, Qi Xia and Qian Five’s team advanced in one direction while Chen Junnan’s team moved toward them from the other. With nearly half the time spared, they ultimately reassembled by the side of the road.
This team was unlike either Qi Xia’s or Qiao Jiajin’s team.
They were neither completely uninjured nor entirely wounded.
Two members looked scarcely different from corpses, while the rest, including the captain, were lively and full of energy.
What kind of bizarre situation was this?
“Oh heyyy!!” Chen Junnan waved excitedly the moment he saw them. “Why if it isn’t Ole Qi, Ole Qiao, Xiao Qian Dou, Big Ole Li, and Zhou Mo? What a coincidence! You guys waiting here with teammates for rescue too? Oh my, Ole Qiao, why do you look thinner? Xiao Qian Dou, you—”
The greeting was excessively lengthy. Delivering it all at once, Chen Junnan ended up slightly out of breath.
“Cut the nonsense,” Qi Xia said. “Tend to the injured first.”
As his words fell, Qi Xia’s gaze stopped on Jiang Ten.The child was holding his own grotesquely damaged head, standing quietly to one side. The only remaining eye on that head lazily swept across the surroundings, an unsettling sight to behold.
“This child is…?”
“{Unstable Spirit} Jiang Ten,” Chen Junnan replied.
“You’re the one who’s {Unstable}!” the head in Jiang Ten’s arms shouted. “Your whole family’s {Unstable}! I’m {Unbreakable Spirit}! I….even if I’m about to break soon…”
“Alright, alright, you’re {Unbreakable Spirit} but your situation is currently unstable, so we’d better attend to your injuries…” Chen Junnan sighed, lifting his gaze toward Qi Xia and Qiao Jiajin. “Ole Qi, Ole Qiao, just look at the kind of team I’m leading. One {Unstable Spirit} Jiang Ten here, and one {Self Detonating} Song Seven there. Even a captain as smart as me can’t get any peace of mind! These two claim to be {End Point}’s strongest shield and strongest spear yet the shield gets pummeled so hard his head comes off and still runs around holding it while the spear almost blew himself up in battle, and then cried like a baby.”
“Let me interrupt for a moment…” Song Seven said through clenched teeth. “Captain, I didn’t make a sound.”
“Alright, alright, scratch that, It was Terrestrial Rabbit who cried like a baby,” Chen Junnan nodded frantically. “You really didn’t make a peep. I hereby proclaim you the capital’s toughest man.”
“Captain… I’m not from Beijing…”
Chen Junnan’s remarks drew continuous wry smiles from Qiao Jiajin and Officer Li. For this team to end up with Chen Junnan as their captain was probably a blessing accumulated over three lifetimes.
Qi Xia paid no mind to Chen Junnan, only marveling at how someone could speak even with their head severed. On closer inspection, the child’s body was covered in injuries, including a broken leg, and one half of his face appeared ripped off, though no blood flowed from the wound.
From the severed neck and beneath the head spread a pitch-black color. Inside him was an emptiness like a vast universe, a void so deep it even seemed to writhe faintly. In this state, could he truly still be called human?
Qi Xia furrowed his brows, feeling that he had definitely seen this state before. If his guess was correct, then this was the most terrifying situation of all.
{Black Tortoise} would not die even if her head were cut off.
Qian Five gave Zhou Six a look. Zhou Six immediately stepped forward, took Jiang Ten’s head, and placed it back above his neck.
“Jiang Ten, hold out a little longer,” Zhou Six said. “Five ge will make you whole again.”
Qian Five first glanced at the few people nearby and realized that everyone here was built quite tall, completely unsuitable for Jiang Ten. He could only sigh, step forward, and directly place his left hand on Jiang Ten’s body.
His current frame came from Luo Eleven and was much larger than Jiang Ten’s original one. Although this body did not fit the clothes Jiang Ten was wearing, saving his life took priority for now.
The instant Qian Five touched him, Jiang Ten’s form abruptly began to change. This time, however, the transformation was far slower than before. He swelled little by little like an inflating balloon, his bones crackling and popping as they expanded, while beads of sweat poured down Qian Five’s forehead.
Qi Xia more or less understood the drawback of Qian Five’s ability. {Conjoined Identity Bloom} had never been a dedicated healing ability to begin with. Continuously replacing other people’s bodies in such a short span was bound to place a heavy burden on Qian Five himself. Over the past two days, he had used his ability far too frequently, his mind was probably already growing hazy.
Qiao Jiajin had not known about Qian Five’s methods before. This was his first time seeing someone revive a little boy whose head had been severed, and he could not help blurting out, “Wow! Shapeshifting lad, that’s cheatin—”
Before his words could finish, Qi Xia and Chen Junnan lunged over at the same time and clamped a hand over his mouth.
“Mmph—” Qiao Jiajin jolted in fright, eyes wide as he stared at the two of them, completely confused.
“Fists, say less,” Qi Xia remarked with a frown. “Qian Five is using his {Reverberation} to save someone right now. If you blurt it out, things will get troublesome.”
“Yeah, Ole Qiao.” Chen Junnan added, a little anxious. “That bell just now was huge, and it’s obviously from you! If you start babbling nonsense now… at best Qian Five will fall into qi deviation, at worst his meridians will be damaged!”
“You should also say less!” Qi Xia scolded. “Wait until Qian Five finishes saving him… Fists is currently in {Reverberation} state. Saying whatever you want isn’t safe.”
Seeing Qiao Jiajin seemed to understand, they finally let go of his mouth.
“Damn… is my {Reverberation} really that scary? I can’t even talk freely?” Qiao Jiajin, still shaken, glanced at the two men before him.
Qi Xia and Chen Junnan only frowned at him to stay quiet, offering no answer.
Zhou Six saw that Jiang Ten’s neck and head had fully fused and slowly released his hands.
Jiang Ten then blinked his eyes open. This body didn’t quite match his childish face; his features were proportionally enlarged, giving a very jarring impression, like a giant version of a child. But at least he still had his life.
“There should be another kid at the prison,” Qian Five said. “I believe his name was Zheng Hero…? We’ll use his body later. For now, just make do with this one.”
Jiang Ten flexed his neck, and finding nothing wrong, he nodded. “No need to swap again, Five ge. This body is far more convenient than Nine jie’s. I feel taller and stronger now, I’m very pleased…”
“Good to hear.” Qian Five patted Jiang Ten on the shoulder and then went over to tend to Song Seven’s injuries. Song Seven’s injuries seemed milder than Jiang Ten’s, and his recovery was nearly instantaneous. Yet Qian Five’s expression grew increasingly grim. He wiped the sweat from his brow, sat down, and struggled to calm his breathing.
Qi Xia turned to look at Qian Five, then glanced at the lively Jiang Ten beside him, and slowly furrowed his brows.
