Tech Dominator Starts with Raising Kids
Chapter 842 - 840: Hidden in Plain Sight
In the quiet living room, Candy spun around, not seeing her brother or her sister.
Perfect, just what she wanted.
"Hehe, time to eat watermelon~"
A dozen seconds later, Candy looked at the bucket where watermelons were placed yesterday, blinking a bit bewilderedly.
It was clearly placed in the bucket yesterday, and after a sleep, it was gone.
In the expansive kitchen, Candy climbed up onto a small stool to rummage through the cabinets, but couldn’t find the watermelons. Two big watermelons vanished without a trace.
Feeling aggrieved, Candy stomped her feet angrily, "Stinky brother, hid them again."
"From far away, I could hear someone shouting ’stinky brother,’ and wondered who it was." Mo Jingchun rested against the kitchen door with arms crossed.
Candy jumped at the sudden sound from behind.
"Brother... when did you come here?"
"It was a coincidence, came just when a little kid was shouting stinky brother."
At these words, Candy felt a bit unlucky, but she laughed heartily, running over to hug her brother’s arm and act sweetly: "Dear brother, I want to eat watermelon."
"Is that alright~"
"Isn’t the watermelon just behind you? If you want to eat, just let Zero cut it."
"Where is it?" Candy looked back, eyeing for quite a while but seeing no sign of watermelon.
If there really was watermelon, she wouldn’t spend so long searching without finding it.
"In the rice cooker, right? You usually eat from there, so it’s reasonable that I put the watermelon there?"
Candy, somewhat skeptical, tentatively moved a small stool, then stood on it to open the rice cooker.
On tiptoe, she looked, rubbing her eyes in disbelief.
Inside the rice cooker lay a quiet big watermelon! Her brother didn’t lie, but!!!
"Brother, you actually hid the watermelon in the rice cooker, no wonder I couldn’t find it."
Mo Jingchun’s lips curved slightly, like a sly fox. Did she really think her brother could hide things conveniently found?
Candy seemed to realize this too, not choosing to call Zero to help cut the watermelon right away, but instead asked confusedly: "Brother, this is just one watermelon, where’s the other one?"
"Hehe, take your time looking." With that, Mo Jingchun stretched and walked away.
"Don’t eat too much, be careful not to get a stomach ache."
Candy rolled her eyes dramatically. "Hmph, I can’t believe I can’t find it, it was just my oversight not checking the rice cooker."
"Zero, do you know where the other one is?"
"Upstairs."
"Where upstairs?" Candy rubbed her hands expectantly. But without turning, Zero said while slicing the watermelon: "Upstairs is just upstairs."
"Where exactly?"
"I don’t know, even if I did, I wouldn’t dare tell you."
"That means you do know!"
This time, Zero didn’t argue, but to learn the whereabouts of the other watermelon from her was simply wishful thinking.
Looking at the silent Zero, Candy sighed.
"Brother surely told you not to say, right."
Not speaking was consent.
"Hey, the watermelon is cut." Zero handed Candy a piece of watermelon, softly advising: "I suggest you offer it to the boss and sister first."
Candy nodded, saying: "Makes sense!"
Watching Candy run off to deliver the watermelon, Zero washed her hands, sighing: "Hidden in plain sight."
Candy certainly wouldn’t expect that the boss had gone to her bedroom early in the morning and hid the watermelon there.
Psychology, the boss understands thoroughly.
"No wonder Zhou Yaling has been tricked by the boss since childhood."
The entire morning, Candy did nothing else but search the house for the watermelon.
Knowing from Zero that the watermelon was upstairs, the trusting Candy gave up on the first floor, starting from the second floor, not even sparing the rooftop.
Under the blazing sun, when Hawkeye saw Candy’s head pop up on the rooftop across, he paused for a few seconds.
"Hi~" Candy waved her little hand cheerfully.
Opposite Hawkeye, wearing sunglasses, waved back, perplexed.
"Uncle, have you seen my brother come to the rooftop?"
At this, Hawkeye raised his brows; why would the boss go to the rooftop?
"No!" Hawkeye responded truthfully.
"Alrighty, bye!"
Without hesitation, the peeked-out Candy withdrew her head, leaving Hawkeye bewildered, scratching his head.
Until lunchtime, when Zhou Yaling called for food, Candy remained without her precious watermelon.
At the dining table, Zhou Yaling glanced at Candy, asking: "You were upstairs circling around all morning, what kept you so dedicated?"
"Watermelon."
"Watermelon? Haven’t you eaten some?"
"There’s one more."
"It’s in your bedroom. I saw it while cleaning. You didn’t see it? Or did you not move it into your room yourself?" Zhou Yaling was puzzled.
As for Candy, it was the awakening she needed, realizing the watermelon was indeed in her bedroom.
She glanced at her silent, focused brother, Candy figured her sister wouldn’t lie to her.
Dear me, the clown was me all along.
Candy scratched her head, self-doubting if she had moved it there last night?
Anyway, finding the watermelon was all that mattered.
But the next second, Mo Jingchun casually remarked: "You’ve eaten plenty of watermelon today, and you’re not allowed to touch that one today."
Candy pouted but dared not protest.
Years of survival told her, when her brother talks lightly, it’s best to follow obediently, or else consequences could be dire!
"Scared!" Zhou Yaling laughed disdainfully from across.
Yet Candy remained silent, in return, gave her sister a dramatic eye roll.
In crucial times, knowing priorities is key; besides, one didn’t see sister being brave yesterday either!
Everyone’s in the same boat, no need to laugh at each other.
After finishing the meal, Candy escaped via the urine route.
For a while, only Mo Jingchun and Zhou Yaling remained at the dining table, still eating.
Watching her elder brother eating and scrolling through videos, Zhou Yaling curiously asked: "I heard Candy say you hid the watermelon in the rice cooker?"
"Yes, indeed, my mom used to hide them like that too, and I couldn’t find them."
"Same for the one in the room?"
Mo Jingchun looked at Zhou Yaling, speaking with an eerie tone: "You also knowing the truth under the light."
"If you hadn’t mentioned it, Candy would still be clueless, possibly not finding it for quite a while."
"A shame."
"What’s a shame?"
"Of course, it’s a shame that the same trick won’t work a second time."
Mo Jingchun chuckled, saying: "You believe, next time I hide something, Candy’s first instinct will be to look at these two places?"
"I believe!"
"Boring!" Mo Jingchun shook his head, intending to argue with Zhou Yaling, but she agreed!
"Enough of this, when do you plan to tell Uncle?"
Zhou Yaling hesitated, saying: "Let’s wait a while longer."
