Xue Yao let out a sigh. Her heart heavy with every beat, she turned to Little Ancestor. Her gaze softened with emotions she could not explain.

She glanced towards the front of her courtyard, surprisingly, the guards were no longer there.

"You know what, I think I’m in." Xue Yao said with a small smile.

Little Ancestor’s eyes widened, sparkling with excitement. "Do you really agree?"

Xue Yao nodded her head.

Little Ancestor walked forward with his chest pushed out. He hit his hand proudly against his chest. "As for the plan, it is quite simple. I just need to get you out of here before the first cry of the crow. Then all we have to do is get into the wooden trolley the hunters are going to use to carry the beasts they hunt." He kept on ranting.

"Oh, yes." He paused, raising one of his fingers. "I will also find you a dress to change into, and you have to promise me that you will leave your bird here... to ensure you don’t run away." He said with an arrogant smirk, as if he was super sure he had caught her on her plans.

If Xue Yao was surprised by his words, she didn’t show it. "Of course I’ll leave Honghong behind, even her fragile body will not be able to withstand the journey." She said, forcing a smile that didn’t reach her eyes.

’Oh, you wish! I’m taking Honghong with me, and I am leaving this clan for good.’ She thought inwardly. ’But I killed their fishes... if I don’t repay them somehow, my conscience will kill me.’

’But since when did you have a conscience, Bai Xue Yao... since when?’ Xue Yao closed her eyes as she already felt an incoming headache from the battle of her mind.

"I’ll be ready before you come by dawn. However..." Xue Yao drawled. "How are we supposed to fool the guards and the maids, and how do we answer to your brother once they find out that we have gone missing?"

"Hmmm..." Little Ancestor scratched the back of his head. "I have a treasure the grand Alpha gave to me. It can temporarily create a clone of yourself... the only downside of it is that it can not talk or have any consciousness... but should in the case of my brother finding out..." He paused.

Xue Yao raised one eyebrow, waiting for his words like farmers waiting for the rain in a drought.

Little Ancestor sighed before flashing a shameless smile. "We just make sure we don’t get caught."

Xue Yao shook her head in disappointment. ’Like what was I expecting from a child... or pup, whatever they are called?’

Little Ancestor swallowed, his eyes fixated on Xue Yao.

Xue Yao turned to meet his gaze. "What?" She frowned.

"If I can get you some meat, can you cook them for me?" He asked innocently.

"Of course." Xue Yao said without thinking twice. At least it was better than him finding out that she had this magical storage space that was filled up with dead rock rabbits.

Hearing her reply, Little Ancestor beamed with excitement. "Wait for me." He said. Without waiting for Xue Yao’s reply, he rushed towards the backyard of the courtyard, climbing up the wall.

Xue Yao shut one of her eyes the moment she heard a loud thud echoing from the other side of the wall.

"I’m fine!" A muffled voice echoed from the other end.

Xue Yao let out a sigh before shaking her head dramatically. ’Why do I keep attracting troublesome people? Do I have an affinity for trouble?’ She let out a deep sigh again.

Meanwhile, just as quickly as the news of the human breeder becoming a Royal Concubine spread through the wolf clan like wildfire, so did the news of her falling out of grace.

Even the marketplace was not spared from the gossip.

"Have you heard what happened within the walls of the fortress?" The buyer said with enthusiasm.

"What?" The seller frowned, thinking if the woman had come with her tales again to buy goods for lower prices.

"The human breeder... I mean the royal concubine had the guts to kill more than a dozen of the Alpha’s dragon golden fishes." She increased the volume of her voice, as other wolf-people perked their ears up.

"I heard the Alpha got so furious that he almost strangled the life out of her. Then he stopped... believing that was an easy death." She said with her chin raised.

"I even heard that he ordered people to tie her up, and ordered the servants to throw her into a pot of soup. He ordered them to simmer her for a full day." She said with a proud smugness.

The people gasp, unable to believe the audacity of the human, and the authenticity of the news.

"So the royal concubine is dead?" The seller asked.

The wolf-woman waved her hand in the air. "No, she is not, sadly. But I believe she wouldn’t survive for long after being that slowly cooked. Now everybody knows that the Luna position is only available for Miss Ruo Shuo." She added.

The seller shook her head. "Poor human, she really is stupid for daring to touch the Alpha’s fish."

"Can I get the herbs for 5 silvers?" the buyer asked with a smile.

"No, they are 10 silvers." The seller firmly retorted.

"But I just brought you some interesting news from the palace." The buyer frowned.

"It is 10 silvers." The seller repeated.

"What about 6 silvers?"

"No!"

Meanwhile, in another part of the clan. Ruo Shuo sat in front of the small water body in front of the main courtyard of her house.

She softly tossed fish food into the water, watching how the Koi fish jumped up to catch the food. They collided with each other, and soon the calm face of the water broke into violent ripples.

"Miss Ruo Shuo." One of the maids with soft brown ears rushed to her side.

Ruo Shuo didn’t bother to acknowledge the maid, who was literally beaming so much that her lips almost split from smiling.

The maid stopped a few steps away from her. "Miss Ruo Shuo, there is good news."

"Speak." Ruo Shuo calmly ordered.

"The Royal Concubine has fallen from the Alpha’s grace... she cooked the Alpha’s dragon golden fishes." The maid replied with a devious smile.

Ruo Shuo’s hand halted midair, a smile forming on her cold face. The opportunity was here... the opportunity to finally get rid of the human and become Luna.
