Chapter 54: New staff

They all stood, looking at the undead as it rose to its feet. Its grip tightened against its staff, and the purple stone glowed. It swung its hands together, and both hands met in the center. Immediately, a massive purple wave of energy exploded outward and slammed into all of them, throwing them back.

Leon hit the wall hard and collapsed to the ground. He groaned in pain and pushed himself back to his feet. He looked at the undead and saw it raising the staff into the air, where it immediately started gathering energy.

The ground began rumbling loudly.

"Something is coming!" Kira yelled, and suddenly, two massive stone hands burst out of the ground. They wasted no time, launching at the ground fast.

Leon and Sophia leaped out of the way. He slammed into the ground and rolled to his feet. He pulled his wand from his waist and pointed right at the hand.

"Freeze!" he yelled as a flow of ice shot out and wrapped around the arm, freezing it down to the ground. Sophia rushed in and leaped into the air. She swung down as her darkness wrapped around her scythe like a vortex again. She slashed into it and broke through the hard rock hand.

It exploded and scattered rocks in all directions, massive rocks flying all around, but she managed to get through.

"Watch out!" Leon yelled and attacked a rock that was flying toward her with a fireball. The rock blasted into bits, but because he was not focused, a rock came his way and slammed into him, throwing him back and slamming him against a wall hard.

"Leon!" she called out to him, attempting to run over to him but could not as another rock came her way and she had to focus. She slashed through it, only to discover one had come after it and slammed into her. She hit the wall hard.

Kira and Mark were in no better position themselves. They managed to block a few attacks, but soon the hand slammed into Mark and hurled him into the wall, and as Kira tried to block the next attack focused on Mark, one came for her as well and rammed into her hard.

Leon watched it all. He struggled to get on his feet and gripped his wand. "I’ll cover things. You guys attack," he said that loud enough for everyone to hear.

The undead looked at him, pointed the staff right at Leon, and the two massive hands hurled forward at him.

Leon charged in, and when the hands were close, he shot into the air.

’Concentrate, ensure your movements are measured and calculated.’

He landed on the ground and skidded a few feet. ’All its attacks are telegraphed, and all I have to do is watch.’

He went below the massive rock that flew through the air. He used pressured wind to blast himself into the air, spinning, and then he lined up right with the undead and then shot out a fireball.

"Now!" He yelled. The fireball travelled toward the undead, and it used a shield to block the attack. The flame slammed into it and exploded on impact, creating a massive flame that covered its sight.

"Hell yeah!" Mark yelled and charged in. His fist lit up in flames. He leaped into the air and came in with a powerful punch. A purple forcefield blocked the attack, but it shattered on impact, which created the opening that Kira needed. She cast an ice lance and shot it right through the gap. It stabbed into the head of the undead, hurling it a few feet away, but it did not hit the ground.

Even then, it was heavily discombobulated and confused, and so Sophia charged in. She channeled her darkness into the tip of her scythe and spun it into a powerful twisting vortex. She swung at the undead.

It tried to stop her with magic and unleashed a wave, but she slashed, and the tip met with the wave, pulling all the wave and twisting it along the tip of her blade as well. The attack slammed into the undead, a mix of its own attack and a mix of her darkness.

The explosiveness of the attack hurled it back several meters until it slammed into the wall hard.

"It’s not done yet!" Leon yelled and planted his foot into the ground. He pointed his wand right at it.

’This is it, an attack to make sure it’s able to run away.’

He cast the lightning spell, the strongest one he had, but then used the technique that he learned from Sophia.

"Allow the spin works with two forces that work together."

The lightning shot out of the wand and twisted in the air. The wand ripped up as the spell rushed out, shattering in his hands until it was turned to nothing.

It travelled through the air as it twisted into a vortex of lightning and slammed into the undead right in the chest. The undead was twisted inside out until it was shattered.

On the wall right behind him was a massive twisted spiral formed, half a meter deep into the wall.

"Whoa."

Mark was shocked when he saw that.

"The kid packs a punch," he said.

"Phew, we managed to destroy it," Kira said in excitement.

[You have gained a new spell: Rock Hands]

He has stolen the spell that the undead had used. He was not sure the stealing would work after he got hit by it, but it ended up working.

[You have awakened Space Affinity]

The messages kept coming through, and Leon could only smile.

"Hey kid, catch," Mark said and tossed the staff at him.

Leon caught the staff and then looked at Mark.

"You destroyed your wand with that last spell, right? Maybe you can use that."

Leon looked at the wand. He let out a smile. "Sure I can, thanks a lot."
