Chapter 1139: Vicente’s Proposal I
Chapter 1139: Vicente’s Proposal I
Vicente shook his head in denial at Lothur’s question. Obviously, he wouldn’t say that he was there to challenge the leader of the domain, especially after seeing the end of Qhava.
Even if he had had any negative intentions against Devil Ritter before, they would have fallen away after such a display of power!
Vicente made a gesture of greeting and said in a tone marked by respect and reverence. “Not at all, Senior Ritter. When I heard about you from Larissa for the first time, I had a good impression and a desire to meet you. Later, when I saw you and felt a fraction of your strength, I understood you were nothing less than the person my friend had talked about. Naturally, I came here today in search of your alliance and friendship and not the other way around.”
Vicente was sincere in his words. He had gotten a good impression of Lothur Ritter when he became friends with Larissa and learned about her past. He had also told her things about his journey on his plane, so she knew about people in his life, too. As for Lothur, he was a genius of cultivation, a being with his own mysteries and interests, someone Vice would rather have in his circle of contacts than not.
It was only recently that he realized how important it was to have someone like Lothur on his side in order to carry out his great plans.
Lothur and his wives looked at Vicente, each with individual thoughts about this black-haired boy. They could sense his sincerity, but also how Hell related to his powers.
Vicente went ahead with his words, “I confess that I brought Larissa along for fear that the senior would consider me a problem to be eliminated, trusting that your past with her would give me a chance to speak. Now I see that I have succeeded so far, but know that my boldness is not out of ambition, but necessity.”
Lothur smiled, liking Vicente Fuller’s tone and measured words. He wasn’t sure what Vicente was looking for and didn’t rule out the chances of a duel between them. The odds were in his favor at the moment, but given the talents of that boy, he had no doubt that one day his position as the strongest Devil might be in peril.
Lothur’s curiosity was greater than his desire to keep the title of strongest in the dimension and he asked, “What exactly do you want from me?”
Vicente took a deep breath and looked at Kong and Larissa, seeing them become more serious. He said, “Senior, are you aware of the change that has taken place in the distant past of Anicane and the various lower planes? Once we were all connected, somehow, and then the paths were severely damaged, almost totally destroyed to the point that only those who became Magus could leave their homes and enter the great world.”
Lothur shook his head, showing that he knew. He had been in Hell for 3,000 years and before that, he had lived for centuries in Anicane. Although it wasn’t his great goal to restore order to things before the ’end’ of the Nine Paths, he had studied enough of the subject to be aware of the details, but also interested in the past era.
Lothur said, “The changes at that time limited us in far more significant ways than you can imagine.” His eyes narrowed, looking like he was observing something far away.
Vicente continued, “Well, senior, my great ambition is to take us back to that majestic past! If we can complete the requirements, bringing the Nine Paths back to their best is not impossible. However, we’ll need plenty of help, including someone as strong as you!”
“I see.” Lothur walked on thoughtfully, signaling for the group to accompany him to his palace.
Lothur’s five wives looked at each other as they walked, aware of where this would lead them if they were to join this young Devil’s crusade. But they also knew things beyond today’s visitors and had their own reasons for thinking about the offer brought by Vicente’s group.
’The return of the Nine Paths would be enough for Lothur’s limitations to disappear!’ Rebecca thought, secretly clenching one of her fists tightly, her heart beating harder.
Annalise looked at her husband with love and devotion in her eyes, but a trace of anticipation, too. ’If it’s even possible to go back to the old era, he could break through his bottleneck and become a genuinely indestructible being!’
Immortals, like Transcendents with positions in Hell and Argardus, were not, in fact, immortal. They had unlimited life expectancies, but could be killed, as happened to Qhava earlier. However, true immortals, impossible to destroy, existed in the historical records of the Absolute dimensions. They were called Absolute Beings, controllers of reality, pillars of time and space!
Not only could a true immortal live forever, but destroying them completely was virtually impossible!
But this status was exclusive to the Absolute Beings, who disappeared long before the ’end’ of the Nine Paths!
Viktoria thought to herself, ’If Lothur can become an Absolute, that will pave the way for all of us and could finally end our curse!’ Her heart warmed at the possibilities.
Unfortunately, even in 3,000 years of experience in Hell, they hadn’t discovered any way to repair the Nine Paths!
When they had settled down in a less black and negative area of Lothur’s domain, sitting around a large table, Natali broke the silence of the last few moments.
“Young Vicente, you want our alliance in your endeavor. But before that, you need to tell us your method. Our family has been looking for information about what you have in mind for a long time and we have found no possibility of changing the reality that surrounds us. Why are you so confident as to come to our domain?”
Vicente looked at this green-haired woman, keeping his gaze serious. That was a very good question. He understood that Devil Ritter’s family could benefit from the return of the Nine Paths, just as he would: by being able to reconnect with his beloved friends and family again. But an alliance only made sense if its goal could be achieved!
Vicente answered the doubt not only of Natali, but of the whole group, “This won’t be by normal methods. The way the Nine Paths previously existed cannot be recovered without a critical ability, which only someone destined to do so could possess. Not only that, that someone needs to be at the peak of existence and agree to take us back to the way things were in the distant past.”
He smiled, looking slowly at each of the lords of this domain. “It just so happens that I was turned into a Devil by the only one with that ability!
Now I’m on that person’s good side. If I have the chance to survive long enough to work out our plans with him and help him fulfill the power requirements for this mission, bringing back the Nine Paths as they were will be possible! With the Celestial King’s successor by our side, nothing will stop us!”
