Chapter 1305: War Of Dominion [Part 1]
Chapter 1305: War Of Dominion [Part 1]
Castor and Regulus both stood on the deck of the Flagship of their Aerial Fleet and gazed at the capital city of Velgrande.
Back then, they could travel to the city without too many problems using their private teleportation gates that had access to the capital city.
But after their connection to the main continent was severed, they had no choice but to cross the sea to reach their destination.
Seeing Velgrande in the distance stirred an emotion within Castor’s chest, and that emotion was longing.
There were times when he would stare at the capital city from a distance and thought that if he were the King of this world, he would certainly do a better job than King Astrion.
This thought had persisted in his mind for many years, and now was the time to realize that dream.
The two Celestials gazed at the six-layered shields covering the entire capital city.
When they fought in the city of Lyra, the shield the Defenders had used was a three-layered shield.
“It seems they did their homework.” Regulus sneered. “Are we going to follow the plan?”
Castor nodded. “Tell everyone to charge the main cannons and prepare for long-distance bombardment.”
The Legendary Relics they possessed were still on cooldown, but Castor didn’t want to wait for over three weeks to start the siege of the city.
They would observe the defenses of Velgrande and see if there was a loophole they could exploit to breach the city’s defenses.
The main cannons of each Airship had charged up and were only waiting for the order to strike.
Castor’s plan was to let the Super Cannon of the flagship strike first, and the rest of the fleet would unleash their attacks at the location where the Super Cannon had struck.
That way, if the shields broke first, their barrage would be able to penetrate deep inside the city before the shield could regenerate itself.
When the Super Cannon had finally been charged up, Castor raised his hand and gave the order.
“Fire!”
A blinding flash of light erupted from the tip of the cannon as it unleashed a destructive beam of light, targeting the plaza of Velgrande.
The blast of the Super Cannon broke past the shields of the city, shattering five of them before coming to a complete stop.
The concentrated fire of the Airships descended at the spot where the hole in the shield was located, colliding with the final barrier that kept the city safe.
Cracks appeared on the final shield of the city. Just as it was about to be destroyed completely, the sixth and fifth layer of the city’s shield had regenerated themselves, tanking the rest of the aerial bombardment.
Seeing this outcome, Castor and Regulus understood that with some minor adjustments, their next strike would blast through the shields and hit the city without fail.
While the two Rebel Army were preparing to unleash their next strike, Thirteen tapped on the runic formation hovering in front of him.
“I see. So seventy-percent output is not enough to completely block their Super Cannon,” Thirteen muttered. “In that case, let’s raise the defensive ability to eight-five percent.”
With a few taps on the runes in front of him, the shield protecting the city glowed brighter.
He was trying to optimize the output of the shield in order to preserve the magic crystals and monster cores that were being used to keep it active.
His plan was simple.
Fight a battle of attrition until Cranky fully recovered.
Of course, there was a chance that if the siege extended to a month, Castor and Regulus would once again use their Legendary Relics to get an advantage.
But Thirteen was fine with that.
He had already prepared some contingency plans just in case the two Celestials and their Elite subordinates would be able to teleport inside the city despite the runic formations that he had built to prevent such a thing from happening.
The teenage boy had also asked Cranky and Queen Miriamele about their insights about Castor’s Legendary Relic, Dark Paradise, so that he would be able to counter that as well.
Thirteen believed that the two Celestials still had some trump cards that they were still not using at the moment.
Even so, they weren’t the only ones with trump cards. Thirteen also had them, and just like what the Celestials were doing, he planned to use them when an opportunity presented itself.
And that opportunity was now presenting itself.
“It’s time to show them that they’re not the only ones who can fire long-ranged attacks,” Thirteen smirked.
At the base of the castle, three giant tank-like vehicles had started to transform into ground cannons.
Each cannon was at least ten meters long and had a nuzzle that was three-meters wide.
A runic formation appeared below them, harnessing the power of the ley lines that ran under the capital city of Velgrande.
“Oblivion Canons, Fire!” Thirteen ordered.
Three powerful beams of light passed through the shields of the city and collided with the shields of the Main Flagship of the rebel army.
Castor and Regulus had sensed something deadly headed in their direction, so both of them unleashed their defensive artifacts to help defend their flagship.
An explosion rippled across the sky, pushing back some of the Airships from their battle formation.
They were confident that they could one-sidedly attack Velgrande because of their superior attack range. But now, they had come to realize that their opponents also had the capability to hit them from a distance.
“Pull back!” Castor ordered.
The barrier that he and Regulus had erected was destroyed by Thirteen’s retaliation strike.
If not for the fact that the Flagship also had its own shield, they might have been shot down from the sky then and there!
The Airships hurriedly backed away, but to their surprise, three more beams were headed to their direction.
“Increase the shield output!” Castor ordered.
“Brace!” Regulus shouted.
A moment later, another loud explosion reached everyone’s ears.
This time, the Airship that was right beside the Rebel’s Flagship burst into flames and crashed towards the ground.
Its shields had failed to block the concentrated fire of the three cannons, which were only a little weaker than the Super Cannon that served as one of Castor’s Trump Cards in this war for dominion.
