Chapter 97: Girl Inside A Glass Tube

Liu Yun’s heart skipped a beat when she heard the sound of approaching footsteps.

As her complexion turned pale, she quickly turned around. She then used the flashlight’s faint light to illuminate the wide, long corridor.

Liu Yun’s heartbeat sped up as the owner of those footsteps drew closer to her. When she finally saw the face of the footsteps’ owner, Liu Yun’s eyes widened in surprise.

"Elder Brother Ye?!"

The flashlight shone directly on Ye Xuan’s face, causing him to instinctively close his eyes.

Seeing this, Liu Yun quickly lowered her flashlight and walked up to him.

"Elder Brother Ye, why are you here?" she asked in a low voice.

Opening his eyes, Ye Xuan looked at Liu Yun. Thanks to the faint light illuminating their surroundings, he could see her clearly.

Ye Xuan scanned Liu Yun from head to toe, but because she was wearing a mask, he couldn’t see her entire face. After a brief moment of silence, he asked, "Are you all right?"

Liu Yun nodded, then repeated her question. "Elder Brother Ye, why are you here?"

"I’m looking for you," Ye Xuan replied, then paused for a second before asking, "Why did you leave without telling us?"

Meeting Ye Xuan’s deep gaze, Liu Yun suddenly felt guilty. She looked away and quickly made an excuse. "I’m just curious when I see something running away and decide to check it out."

Ye Xuan glanced at Liu Yun’s flashlight, then at the mask and her wooden stick. He clearly didn’t believe her words. However, he didn’t force her to tell him the truth.

Instead, he grabbed her wrist and said with a hint of urgency in his deep voice, "We must leave this place immediately."

Noticing Ye Xuan’s urgency, Liu Yun couldn’t help but glance at the metal door behind her.

’Is he afraid of the thing behind this metal door?’

Liu Yun frowned slightly, then looked at Ye Xuan and asked, "Elder Brother Ye, do you know what’s behind this metal door?"

When she asked this, Ye Xuan’s body froze for a split second.

Hearing this, Liu Yun quickly shook her head. However, asking her to abandon her mission when she had already come this far was impossible.

Not knowing what she was thinking, Ye Xuan pulled her along while saying, "Let’s go back."

After taking two steps, he suddenly turned around. Staring at Liu Yun, who was standing in place like a statue, Ye Xuan narrowed his eyes and asked, "You don’t want to leave?"

Liu Yun pointed her flashlight toward the metal door, then replied, "I need to see what’s behind this metal door. Otherwise, I won’t be able to sleep peacefully."

Ye Xuan stared at her in silence for a long moment before saying, "You will die." 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

Smiling at him, Liu Yun calmly said, "Everyone will eventually die someday."

Knowing that he couldn’t persuade her, Ye Xuan’s brows creased so tightly that they could crush a mosquito to death.

Just when Liu Yun thought he was going to leave her there, Ye Xuan finally said, "Fine."

Letting go of her wrist, Ye Xuan walked up to the metal door.

Seeing this, Liu Yun raised her brows slightly. ’Eh? Is he planning to go with me?’

Although Liu Yun was afraid of Ye Xuan, having him accompany her actually made her feel safer. No matter what, he was someone who could become the last boss of this Apocalypse World.

Behind the metal door, a spacious room at least 200 square meters in size was covered in thick black vines. In the center of the room stood a large cylindrical glass tube connected to countless machines surrounding it.

Although the machines were now covered in moss and black vines, Liu Yun could tell that they were still powered on from the lights that flashed from time to time.

"Why are you just standing here?"

Hearing Ye Xuan’s deep voice, Liu Yun came out of her shock. Turning to look at him, she pointed at the large cylindrical glass tube and whispered, "Look, there is a little girl inside that glass tube."
