SYSTEM ASCENSION
Chapter 97: The Disciples
Qld mainly have eight days in a week, thirty two days in a month and three hundred and eighty four days in a year. Every eight days is known as the day of rest, and that day, there are no classes.
Elias slept till the sun rose today, and Kael could only stare at him like he was some strange specimen.
"How the hell are you still sleeping?"
He swirled around and opened his eyes. "No class, equal more sleep."
Kael sighed and walked to the window. He pulled it open, watching the students in casual wear, walking around.
"Are you not planning to go out? Most of the students are going to the monastery."
This actually piqued Elias’ interest a bit. "Monastery?"
"Yunno, the religious talks," Kael shrugged. "Followers of Omeo."
It had been a while since Elias had heard that name, and it only reminded him that this strange being had a hand in what was happening.
"I guess we’re all followers of Omeo since we have the system though." Kael continued to make small talks.
’The word Omeo is not in my system either.’ Elias noted.
"What do they teach in the monastery?"
"Huh..." Kael shrugged. "Deeper connection and link and something like that. I’m not hard core on giving my life to a genderless being who probably doesn’t even know me."
"Hmmm..."
Kael’s system ding, and when he looked at it, he frowned.
"I think it heard me. I just got a daily mission to visit the monastery."
Elias tilted his head. He didn’t get any notification.
"You got one too right?"
"No."
"Huh? Does that mean you were a believer to begin with?"
"I didn’t even know what a monastery meant." He got up and walked to the bathroom.
"I ordered new towels and soaps. For some reason, I can’t find the old ones." Kael called behind him.
Elias didn’t reply, but just stared at his own system.

’Halfway gone.’
He took a quick bath and returned outside.
Kael was still waiting for him.
"Let’s go together."
Elias didn’t object. In the first place, he wanted to check it out and see what it’s all about.
He was dressed in a black hood top and short, his hair falling across his face.
"How do you see that?"
"I can see when I’m blind." He bluntly replied.
"Huh? Does that make any sense."
"..."
They left the room.
The monastery wasn’t inside Ringoff Academy but directly outside the gate. They had to walk nine minutes, and used a teleportation gate before they arrived at it.
The structure stood tall and imposing.
"This is my first time here." Kael muttered, tugging Elias’s hand like a selfless child. "I’m kinda excited. Let’s go in."
They proceeded forward with the rest of the students and took a seat among the rows of benches on the seventh line. Everywhere was silent as the preacher spoke words that sounded alien to them.
"...for true faith comes from believing and...."
Elias’ eyes quickly wandered off. He stared at the structures and drawings on the wall around them. It seems to be drawings of some people, only that some of them didn’t seem human.
The drawings were pretty vivid.
Elias looked left. The drawing was a female dressed in a gown like flowing water. She had four hands and a single eye.
"..."
He looked at the one beside it.
It was a man with sharp red eyes. He wore a hood that stretched into darkness and held a rod-like staff.
The next one didn’t look human to him. It was a humanoid beast. Half a wolf and half a man.
"Creative."
He glanced at Kael and found the boy deeply immersed in what the preacher was saying.
He looked further.
The next drawing was a little girl. She seemed normal with no unique features. Just a calm smile and a harmless physic.
The next was a man. He looked like a man, but wasn’t. Red skin, white eyes, white hair.
Elias was beginning to find all this interesting.
The next was even more breathtaking. A giant woman with two large horns.
"Hmmm..."
’Why is all this drawn here?’
He turned his head towards the next, and his eyes widened a bit. He wasn’t looking at this one with curiosity, but shock. He had seen this same drawing in the temple back at black empire.
A picture of a young man with dark eyes. He wore a long robe and his hair stretched to the sole of his bare feet. He almost looked normal, but the drawing carried enough weight to stare again.
’Why is the drawing of an ancestor here?’
It wasn’t just an ancestor, but the first Morail ever to exist. Muon Morail. The founder of the black empire.
He glanced at the preacher, eyes narrowing in confusion.
’I should ask him...’
He looked at the next one.
This one was even more confusing. It was like a tree of creatures. A woman, merged with a man, merged with a child, merged with various beasts, and even flowers. It was fascinating.
"A shapeshifter."
His eyes moved to the next, and his shock was bigger. He wasn’t sure he had seen this person before but the familiarity was absolute. Wrapped up in bandages, revealing dark skin. Silver eyes that mirrored his hair colour shorn bright. He held a sword. A sword that had a mouth.
Elias subconsciously reached out.
’I have held that sword before. During the trial... And the invasion.’
"Why..."
"Huh?" Kael glanced at him. "Why what?"
"The guy with the sword." He pointed.
Kael glanced at the painting. "That’s Haliad. Hound of the dark."
’Hound of...the dark? Where have I seen him before?’
Kael returned his attention to the preacher and Elias was left with his own thoughts. No matter how hard he stared, no answer came.
He moved on to the last painting.
This one was a lady. Dressed in a black robe, and a veil, holding a sword that was five times a normal sword length. On her head was a bunny.
"..."
The noise around Elias drowned out. He stared at the painting longer than he had stared at the rest.
He knew this person. He had killed this person.
"...mom?"
His heart was suddenly beating faster than normal. The dream that a stop pestering him, began playing vividly in his eyes.
The line between reality and the unseen thinned out, and when it was becoming suffocating,
"Elias!"
He flinched, and turned around.
Kael had gripped his hand so hard it was almost painful. Everyone in the monastery and even the preacher was staring at him.
"...what?"
Kael pulled back. "Are you alright? You spaced out."
"I did?"
"The preacher was talking to you."
Elias glanced at the man, and he smiled.
"Your name was Elias right? It seems you have a connection with Omeo’s disciples."
