Qingmei and Ji Shuanglin came back from their morning exercise, smelling a strong burnt odor from the kitchen. Both parents hurriedly rushed into the kitchen to check the situation.

Unexpectedly, they stumbled upon a sweet and cozy scene of their son and Yan Huan.

"Ahem ahem!" Qingmei coughed loudly twice.

Ji Shuanglin hurried to cover his wife’s mouth, but it was too late.

He gave his wife a slightly reproachful look, displeased with her for being insensitive and ruining their son’s good moment.

Qingmei was unfazed. She looked at her son, who still had one leg in a cast and should have been resting in bed, yet he had run to the kitchen.

"Ji Chuan! Go back!"

Ji Chuan and Yan Huan were caught red-handed, and Ji Chuan felt more regret than anything. Yan Huan, however, was embarrassed and awkward, cooking so intently that they almost ended up kissing...

"Mom! Did you time your return?" Ji Chuan chuckled awkwardly.

"What? Do you have a problem with that?"

"Nope! What problem could I have? I’m teaching Yan Huan how to cook!"

"And you’re teaching with this?" Qingmei pointed to Ji Chuan’s mouth.

"Yeah! It’s all about hands-on instruction, verbally and practically; I mean, with Yan Huan, I really need to use my mouth in more ways..." Ji Chuan deliberately misunderstood Qingmei’s implication.

"Go, go, go! Get out!" Qingmei gave Ji Chuan a slap, exasperated, and said, "Even if you want to do those things, you should wait! At least find a comfortable place, no? Look at you, still in a cast and holding it up without feeling tired? Are you that impatient? If your leg isn’t treated well and you end up leaving a lingering problem, let’s see if you’ll regret it later!"

"Alright, alright, I’m leaving, okay?" Ji Chuan couldn’t listen any longer. He grabbed his crutch and left the kitchen.

After sending her son away, Qingmei finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Seeing Yan Huan’s uneasy and embarrassed red-faced expression, she finally remembered she’d been so focused on lecturing her son, she ignored Yan Huan standing there.

"Uh... Yan Huan, you go rest, I’ll make breakfast." No matter how she tried to explain, it was awkward, so Qingmei simply changed the subject.

"No need, no need. Auntie, you go rest. I’ll handle it! I’ve learned to cook from my mom a few times, and just last night I specifically studied the recipe, waiting for this meal to show my skills!" Yan Huan quickly said.

"Are you sure you can do it?" Qingmei asked, somewhat dubiously.

"Of course! Just wait and see." Yan Huan patted her chest confidently.

By the time breakfast was ready, it was already late morning. Yan Huan’s cooking speed was really less than impressive.

"I must say, I’m actually pretty hungry now. Let me try Yan Huan’s cooking skills..." Ji Shuanglin, seeing the steaming dishes being served on the table, was still somewhat expectant.

"If it tastes good, you should eat more." Yan Huan, like a diligent housewife, busily worked around the dining table. This moment was crucial, a time to prove herself.

The dishes were served, the rice was placed nicely, and it all looked presentable.

However, when Ji Shuanglin took a bite with great anticipation, he almost spit it out, his expression could be described as indescribable.

But under Yan Huan’s expectant gaze, he stretched his neck and swallowed it down.

"How does it taste?" Yan Huan eagerly asked.

"Mm, mm, not bad..."

"Then eat more! Here, let me serve you some more rice..."

"You... you should have some too." Ji Shuanglin, embarrassed to say it didn’t taste good yet finding it hard to swallow, hoped Yan Huan could discover the issue herself.
