The next day.

Talon Wayne appeared at the gate of the courtyard right on time.

He wore a brand new gray robe today, with the collar buttoned up meticulously.

Upon seeing Lin Feng, he bowed deeply, even more so than before: "Lord Lin, the Viscount is waiting at the Throne Tower. Please follow me."

Lin Feng nodded and followed him out of the courtyard.

The road from Coldmoon City to the Throne Tower is not short.

Talon led Lin Feng through the inner city square toward the dark purple teleportation portal in the center.

A dozen or so polar elf guards stood at attention around the perimeter, short bows drawn and arrows nocked, on high alert.

After Talon presented the token, the guards made way for them, and the two stepped into the portal.

With a flash of light, it reappeared in the ground floor hall of the teleportation tower among the four auxiliary towers surrounding the throne spire.

Talon walked ahead as he exited the teleportation tower and headed towards the Throne Spire, his pace neither fast nor slow, his posture respectful and meticulous.

Lin Feng followed beside him, his gaze sweeping over their surroundings.

Outside the teleportation tower was a wide plaza, paved with black obsidian.

There weren't many people in the square. A few soldiers from various ethnic groups were carrying supplies. Several carts covered with thick cloth were parked in a corner of the square, and people were loading boxes onto them.

Compared to the tense atmosphere of preparation for war in Cold Moon City, this place was much quieter.

"The teleportation array of the teleportation tower consumes a lot of resources and can only perform small-scale teleportation."

Talon explained without turning his head, his voice low, as if he were talking to himself.

"The armies of various ethnic groups that went to support the Pure Land of Eternal Night Snow Mountain took a different route. This place is only for messengers, strategic materials and high-ranking personnel."

Lin Feng nodded.

The two crossed the square and headed towards the main entrance of the throne tower.

The spire's outline became clearer under the gray sky, its 1,500-meter-high body resembling a dark giant sword stuck in the ground, its top hidden in the clouds.

The main entrance is a dark purple stone gate that is thirty meters high, with the same fine runes as those on the tower carved on its surface.

Talon stopped in front of the door, placed his hands on the door, and the stone door slid open silently, revealing a deep corridor.

"Lord Lin, please."

Lin Feng stepped inside.

The interior of the throne tower is much deeper than it appears from the outside, with corridors spiraling upwards one after another, seemingly without end.

The walls, the floor, and the ceiling are covered with densely packed symbols and patterns.

Some of the symbols resembled words, some resembled patterns, and some were somewhere in between. The lines were twisted and intertwined, and looking at them for a long time could even induce drowsiness.

As soon as drowsiness appeared, it was crushed by Lin Feng's own negative resistance.

Even so, a sense of vigilance still arose in his heart.

You should know that he usually suppresses his resistance.

After all, if he maintains high resistance, even the spiciness in his usual food will be treated as a negative effect by his body and he will be immune to it, making everything taste like chewing wax.

But ever since he stepped into the Throne Tower, he has kept his resistance at a combat-ready level and has never let up for a moment.

Yet these things could still affect him?

With his current resistance, ordinary negative status effects can't even get close to him.

Anything that can penetrate resistance and leave a trace in his heart is definitely not ordinary.

Thinking of this, Lin Feng suddenly remembered something: Talon, who was leading the way, seemed to have never opened his eyes from beginning to end.

He thought about it carefully, and it really was true.

From the moment he entered the tower until now, Talon's eyes have remained closed, yet his steps have not slowed down at all. Turning corners, climbing steps, opening doors—his movements are fluid and effortless, no different from when his eyes are open.

It seems that Talon already knew about what was inside the tower and had his own way of dealing with it.

After walking for a few minutes, Talon stopped in front of a tall, dark purple stone gate.

Lin Feng also stopped in his tracks, glanced at the tightly closed door, and asked, "Steward Talon, is the Viscount inside?"

However, Talon Wayne did not react.

Lin Feng turned his head and saw that Talon's eyes were still closed.

He silently scanned the area with his senses; the breathing was steady and long, as if... the person was asleep?

Lin Feng then sensed his surroundings again.

The drowsiness was indeed stronger than before, permeating the air, layer upon layer.

But this time, he didn't feel anything. With his current resistance, he could be completely exempt from this level of mental erosion.

It was just that I was caught off guard the first time I encountered it, and my body hadn't had time to adjust, so I was taken aback.

However, that impact was negligible for him; in actual combat, it wouldn't even be considered a disturbance.

Pulling himself back to reality, Lin Feng looked at Talon, who was still unresponsive, and was at a loss for what to do.

Just then, a calm voice came from inside the door: "Lord Lin, ignore Talon, come in."

Lin Feng reached out and pushed open the stone door. The heavy stone door slid open silently, and a dark and heavy aura rushed out.

The hall was more spacious than Lin Feng had imagined, with four walls made of dark purple obsidian and no decorations on them.

Only on the side facing the throne is a huge relief of a crescent moon.

A faint silver-purple light flowed from the gap in the crescent moon, enveloping the entire hall in a dim halo.

Edgar Eternal Night sat on the throne.

The hem of his dark gray robe trailed on the stone steps, and his dark silver cane leaned against the handrail.

He had a thin and upright face, with long, dark purple hair tied back, and a few stray strands sticking to his temples.

Its eyes were dark purple, with a very fine black ring around the edge of the pupil, and they were slowly turning.

Lin Feng walked to the foot of the throne and stopped about ten steps in front of the steps.

He placed his right fist against his chest and bowed slightly: "Your Excellency, this is your subordinate Lin Feng, paying my respects upon first audience."

Edgar's lips curled into a perfectly measured, gentle smile: "Lord Lin, no need for such formalities."

His voice was calm and unhurried, like a deep pool of water: "I already know about your situation. You are outstanding, arguably the most outstanding person under my command in the past ten thousand years."

In my judgment, your ascension to godhood is just around the corner.

Lin Feng lowered his eyes, his tone so respectful that not a single flaw could be found: "Your Excellency is too kind. I am able to get to where I am today without your protection and guidance."

I only managed to get to this point by narrowly escaping death a few times and having a bit of luck.

The path to godhood is still too unfamiliar to me; I need Your Excellency's guidance.

Edgar nodded slightly, tapped his fingers on the armrest, and said calmly, "I have always been willing to mentor younger generations."

"If you all become gods as quickly as possible, my pressure will be greatly reduced. You can ask me anything you want; consider it a reward for your achievements in this battle."

Lin Feng rolled his eyes inwardly.

Despite such a great achievement, he received no material reward whatsoever; they simply gave him some intelligence and sent him on his way.

What's even more absurd is that when he tried to find out about things he cared about, such as laws, the information the other party provided couldn't even be verified.

However...on second thought, it's not like there's no way to deal with it.

He looked up at Edgar, his gaze probing: "Your Excellency, what I am most concerned about right now is naturally becoming a god."

According to the intelligence my subordinates currently possess, I am only one step away from promotion; all I need to do is find the materials that can upgrade the plane's quality to the Dark Gold tier.
