The Eternal Night Plane, the Throne Spire.

The top-floor hall was almost too empty, with four walls made of dark purple obsidian and no decorations on them.

Only on the side facing the throne is a huge relief of a crescent moon.

A faint silver-purple light flowed from the gap in the crescent moon, enveloping the entire hall in a dark and somber atmosphere.

Edgar Eternal Night sat on the throne.

The hem of the dark gray robe drooped onto the stone steps, and the dark silver brooch at the collar gleamed coldly in the dim light.

The dark silver cane leaned against the armrest, the dark gold crystal at the top of the cane pulsating between light and shadow.

His face was thin and upright, with long, dark purple hair tied back and a few stray strands sticking to his temples.

At this moment, an unpleasant expression appeared on that usually calm and composed face.

Not long ago, Count Nightfall reprimanded him via remote communication.

The words weren't harsh, and the tone wasn't intense, but the condescending rebuke still makes his temples throb.

He was originally a lower-level god, and although he did not have the power to contain the laws, he should not have been treated like this.

But the blame lies with him for his greed and recklessness four years ago, which led to his death on the battlefield outside the domain.

Although he can be resurrected, it will take ten years.

For the past ten years, he could only rely on this clone of a high-ranking apostle to stay in the rear, allocate resources from the territory, reorganize personnel, and continuously send support to the battlefield outside the region.

However, misfortunes never come singly.

The Blood Demon Sect intervened at this crucial moment, launching a large-scale invasion of the Eternal Night Plane, which drastically reduced the forces that could be mobilized to the outer battlefields, already greatly displeasing the Earl.

He harbored resentment in his heart, yet he was helpless.

The situation is dire right now; even a lower-level god like him could fall at any moment. How could he possibly have the right to concern himself with such matters?

The root of all this can be traced back to ten thousand years ago.

Since the great Lord of Nightmares fell into chaos for some unknown reason, the princes, dukes, and counts under his command have been ruling independently and have become difficult to unite.

The previously unified troop strength, resources, and strategic deployment have all vanished.

Taking advantage of the situation, surrounding forces launched an attack, and the Nightmare faction lost most of its territory under siege, suffering heavy losses and failing to recover to this day.

Over these ten thousand years, countless lower-level gods have perished, and it is said that some mid-level gods have also been lost.

But Count Nightfall remained unharmed.

Edgar knew his boss's temperament better than anyone else. When the day came that he couldn't hold on any longer, the Earl would never die defending his position. Instead, he would be the first to flee with his own plane, leaving the mess for his subordinates.

Earl of Night can run away; he's a perfectly transcendent lower-level god, and he can simply abandon his plane of existence to escape.

But he can't.

He initially relied on a special pure land to artificially increase his success rate to forty percent. Without using the certificate of transcendence, he barely managed to join the ranks of lower-level gods purely by luck.

He is an imperfect lower god.

He cannot escape, because his divine status is inextricably linked to the plane of existence. As long as the plane exists, he exists; if the plane perishes, he perishes.

Thinking of this, he suddenly stood up.

"Damn it..." he muttered to himself, his voice filled with resentment that had been suppressed for tens of thousands of years.

After tens of thousands of years of arduous cultivation, in the end, he couldn't even grasp a single law.

He had long since given up on the unattainable intermediate law, only hoping to accommodate a lower law, but even this humble wish could not be fulfilled.

If he could accept the laws, he could take the Eternal Night Plane into his godhood and leave.

Why should we be trapped here, waiting to die?

He stood before the throne, the extremely fine black lines in his dark purple pupils slowly rotating.

After a moment, he took a deep breath and sat down again.

Just then, Talon Wayne's voice came from outside the door, respectful and restrained: "Is the Viscount here? I am Talon. There is some major breaking news from Coldmoon City."

Edgar quickly composed himself, leaned back on the throne, and said in his usual calm and gentle voice, "Come in."

The door was pushed open.

Talon Wayne stepped in sideways, his footsteps very light.

He walked to the foot of the throne, stopped a dozen steps away, bowed deeply, and his posture was so perfect it looked as if it had been measured with a ruler.

"Viscount, urgent report from Coldmoon City." He opened the booklet in his hand.

"This afternoon, a team of thirty-five experts from the Blood Demon Sect, all at the Shattered Void Realm, ambushed the three Nightmare Barons who were heading to Xuanbing City to provide support at the border between the southern and eastern regions of the Eternal Night Snow Mountain Pure Land."

Edgar tapped his fingers lightly on the armrest: "The three barons?"

"Yes, the bear-men Balor and Goblinsnik, and the human Lin Feng."

Edgar's fingers stopped.

He leaned forward slightly: "Lin Feng? That newly promoted baron?"

“Exactly,” Talon continued. “According to the joint report from the four garrison officers of Coldmoon City, after being ambushed, Lin Feng decisively removed his disguise and revealed the strength of a high-ranking apostle.”

He and four garrison officers launched a pincer attack, annihilating all thirty-five members of the Blood Demon Sect; not one escaped.

Edgar remained silent for a few moments.

"Say it again." His tone was still unhurried, but his voice was a little lower than before. "What level is he at?"

“High-ranking Apostle,” Talon repeated, “the four garrison officers have confirmed it to be correct.”

Edgar did not respond immediately.

After a moment, he slowly spoke: "If I remember correctly, this Lin Feng should have only broken through to the Apostle level a few years ago, right? How did he break through to the Upper Apostle level so quickly?"

"Yes, Your Excellency, it was a little over two years. He was exempted from the first conscription because he was a newly appointed lord."

Talon turned a page. "However, according to the report from the garrison commander of Coldmoon City, he chose to fight a lord in the interdimensional war, encountered a Demon Sect apostle who was stuck at a certain level, obtained a lot of interdimensional hearts, and only then was he able to break through."

Edgar remained outwardly calm, but inwardly he was sneering.

That's possible, but it's definitely not the whole reason.

If he wasn't mistaken, the demiplane Lin {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} Feng was in should be of Dark Gold quality.

Only in this way can he, like himself, collect four legendary professions and break through to level 54.

But... has the Lord of Nightmares' influence declined to this extent?

They've actually allowed other races to directly become lords of Dark Gold quality planes?

He tapped his fingertips lightly on the armrest of the throne, his thoughts racing.

Fortunately, the Blood Demon Sect's offensive is becoming increasingly fierce. With this high-ranking apostle present, a lot of troops can be freed up, which can help resolve Count Nightfall's dissatisfaction.

I also need to see this Lin Feng immediately, to calm him down and prevent him from rushing to break through.

Otherwise, if he dies, where will he find such a useful free laborer again?

He snapped out of his reverie and turned his gaze back to Talon.

"Talon".

"exist."

"Send a message to Hanyue City immediately, telling Lin Feng to come here before tomorrow. I want to see him."

His voice regained its just-right gentleness, "Also, this time he will be given the rewards for being promoted to High Apostle and Upper Apostle."

"Yes," Talon replied with a bow, but did not immediately leave.

Edgar glanced at him: "Is there anything else?"

"Your Excellency, there is one more thing. In her report, Liana, the garrison commander of Coldmoon City, mentioned that Lin Feng's original mission was to go to Xuanbing City to provide support."

But now that her strength has been revealed, she believes it is no longer appropriate to go to Xuanbing City.

Edgar nodded: "She did the right thing. Send someone else to Xuanbing City. As for Lin Feng... I have other plans."

"Yes." Talon then straightened up, took three steps back, turned around, and pushed open the door to leave.

The heavy stone door slowly closed behind Talon.

Edgar leaned back in his chair, staring at the closed door, his fingertips tapping absently on the armrest.

He remembered the conditions the Blood Demon Sect had offered him: if Earl of Night abandoned him, he would preserve the Eternal Night Plane intact.

This would allow him to be reincarnated, retain his memories, and become the master of a plane in a demi-plane under the Blood Demon Sect.

As for whether this promise can be trusted, the answer is definitely yes.

Over the past ten thousand years, the Blood Demon Sect has conquered many small planes, and as long as they remain intact, they have fulfilled their promises.

However, unless faced with a desperate situation, who would give up being a lower-level god to become the ruler of a plane that can never be surpassed?

If you apply, you're lucky if they give you a position; you expect a promotion? You must be dreaming.

Edgar leaned back in his chair and murmured, "A god without laws is, in the end, nothing more than a stronger ant."

He closed his eyes, his dark purple pupils shifting slightly beneath his eyelids.

Tomorrow, he'll see just how much of a person this young man named Lin Feng really is.

...

The streets of Hanyue City were much more bustling than Lin Feng had imagined.

Along the main road paved with bluestone, stalls lined up one after another, and the sounds of vendors calling out their wares rose and fell.

Unlike the market in Fenghuo Territory, the things sold here are all sorts of strange and unusual.

There are "living seasonings" that come in glass bottles and twist on their own.

There is a type of dried mushroom called "Shadow Mushroom," which emits a faint blue glow and is said to grant temporary night vision when consumed.

There is also a fist-sized fruit with a shell covered in sharp spiky edges, which the vendor claims can be tasted in "a hundred different flavors" when bitten into.

Han Dang walked beside Lin Feng, his burly figure like a moving iron wall. He would stop every few steps and talk incessantly about the items on the stall.

"Lord Lin, look at this!" Han Dang stopped in front of a stall and picked up a long, red object that resembled a chili pepper but had golden veins on its surface.

"This is called 'Flaming Dragon's Whisker,' a specialty of the Flame Demon's territory. It's so spicy it can breathe fire, but paired with strong liquor, it's absolutely amazing!!!"

Lin Feng took it and smelled it; a scorching heat rushed into his nostrils.

"nice one."

"Of course!" Han Dang laughed heartily, casually tossing a few crystals to the stall owner and stuffing the Flame Dragon Whiskers into Lin Feng's hand.
