He squatted down on the ground, his two-meter-eight-meter frame shrinking into a ball. He pulled out a leather pouch from his pocket, unscrewed the cap, took a swig, and handed it to Lin Feng: "Want some? It's the Bear Clan's strong liquor, pretty potent."

Lin Feng waved his hand.

Balor didn't force himself and took another sip.

About ten minutes later, a gray figure flew from the direction of the Throne Spire and landed at the entrance of the Summoning Tower.

Talon Wayne looked the same as always, his gray robe neat, his steps precise, and he was carrying a stack of booklets.

He saw the three people at the door, and without stopping, walked straight over.

Balor was the first to stand up, his two-meter-eight-meter frame blocking Talon's way: "Well? Has the Viscount agreed?"

Snik joined in, rubbing his long, slender hands together rapidly: "Yes, yes, Manager Talon, we risked our lives on the snow mountain."

"All our equipment is gone. Now we don't even have a decent gold-tier item. If we go to the battlefield like this, we'll just be feeding the Blood Demon Sect with our lives."

Talon glanced at the two of them, took out two boxes from his spatial ring, and placed them on the ground.

His movements were meticulous; the boxes were placed parallel to the tower gate with equal spacing.

"The Viscount said that, in consideration of your bravery in fighting the enemy on the snowy mountain battlefield, he has granted you special permission to advance three pieces of bound gold equipment, which you can repay later with battle merits or items of equal value."

Talon's tone remained calm. After speaking, he lowered his head and looked back at the booklet.

Balor's eyes lit up instantly, and his voice rose sharply: "Three items! Your Excellency is wise!"

He bent down and opened the box, inside which were three pieces of gold armor neatly arranged: a breastplate, a belt, and a headdress.

He took them out one by one to examine them, clicking his tongue repeatedly: "A chest armor that increases block rate, a belt that increases health, a headdress that increases mental resistance. The whole set! Complete!"

He eagerly put on the three pieces of equipment, his movements rough but quick.

Snik also opened his own box, which contained three pieces of gold armor as well.

He examined the attributes of each item one by one, running his fingers back and forth across the surface of the equipment while muttering to himself: "Leggings increase evasion, belt increases health, headwear increases negative resistance."

Not bad, not bad. It's not the best, but at least it works.

He put it on quickly, stretched his wrists, and looked much more relaxed than before.

After the two men finished dressing, Talon spoke up: "Three barons, please come in. Let's go inside and talk."

He turned and led the way through the gates of the summons tower.

Balor, carrying the earth-shattering stake, strode in, his footsteps pounding.

Snik rubbed his hands together, jogging quickly behind him while muttering to himself.

Lin Feng glanced at the gate of the Summoning Tower and stepped inside.

...

Talon led the three through the first-floor hall, up the curved stone steps, until they reached the end of the top-floor corridor.

They stopped in front of a heavy, dark gold door.

The door was covered with densely packed runes, each emitting a faint silver light, clearly indicating some kind of high-level defensive barrier.

Talon reached out and pressed his hand on the sensor stone by the door. The runes lit up one by one, and the door slowly slid open to both sides.

After the four entered, Talon closed the door behind him, and the runes disappeared back into the dark gold door panel, completely isolating the room.

The room was small, but it was decorated very simply.

In the center is a rectangular stone table, surrounded by six high-backed stone chairs. Several pale blue eternal lamps are embedded in the walls, their light soft yet not glaring.

As soon as he entered, Balor found the widest stone chair and sat down.

The chair remained completely still under the weight of his 2.8-meter-tall frame.

Completely unaware, he leaned the earth-shattering stake to the side, slapped his knees with both hands, and started shouting.

"Steward Talon, what are the Viscount's plans for the three of us? He's supposed to be going to the Northern Region, right? I heard the Demonic Sect's next target is there..."

He started to get nervous halfway through his sentence, leaning forward and raising his voice by half a beat: "Are you going to send us back to the Central Region again? I just resurrected! This set of equipment was pre-paid!"

"If I go to the main force of the Demonic Sect again, I'll be worn out in a few days. Then I'll have to go shirtless, which won't look good for the Viscount!"

Talon didn't reply. He first gestured to Lin Feng, indicating that he should sit down.

Lin Feng found a chair, sat down, leaned against the stone wall, and stared at it without saying a word.

Talon then spoke up: "Lord Baron Balor, you were originally supposed to go to the Northern Region according to the Viscount's arrangement, but a few days ago, the Xuanbing City in the Eastern Region sent an urgent request for assistance."

He opened the booklet in his hand and stated in a straightforward tone: "The Blood Demon Sect has sent a large number of Apostle Realm cultivators into the Eternal Night Plane, and their first stop is Xuanbing City."

Xuanbing City fought a bloody three-day battle with the Blood Demon Sect to regain control of the city walls, suffering heavy losses in the process, and now urgently needs reinforcements.

Balor slammed his hand on the table and stood up, causing his chair to overturn to the ground: "What? The Eastern Region!"

His voice boomed so loudly that the eternal night lamp on the wall flickered, "Hasn't the Eastern Region already become the Demon Sect's backyard? If our army is wiped out halfway there, what's the difference between that and sending them to their deaths..."

He became more and more agitated as he spoke, his thick brown-gray fur standing on end: "Anyway, I'm telling you right now, if I really have to go to the Eastern Region, I won't bring a single piece of gold equipment with me."

Whoever wants to bring them can bring them. I'll go shirtless, and they can do whatever they want.

Anyway, I went through a lot of trouble to get this gear in advance, so there's no way I'd lose it again.

Snik muttered under his breath, "Going to the Eastern Region without any equipment is practically suicide!"

Balor declared confidently, patting his chest, "The difference is huge! When I die, not a single hair will fall from my head!"

Talon waited for him to finish speaking before slowly saying, "Lord Baron Balor, this time we won't be sending a large army to provide support. Just the three of you will go, making you a smaller target and less likely to be exposed."

Moreover, the route goes to the Southern Region first, and then to the Eastern Region, which can perfectly avoid the Demon Sect's army. The number of Demon Sect Apostles is also limited, and they cannot be everywhere.

Besides, even if they were discovered, given the speed of you barons, you would have arrived in Xuanbing City long ago.

The Demonic Sect's high-end combat forces besieging Xuanbing City are roughly equal to ours; once they reach Xuanbing City, they will be met with reinforcements.

After listening, Balor paused for two seconds, then slowly righted the overturned stool and sat down again.

He scratched his head and gave an awkward smile: "You should have said so earlier! I thought the three of us would be leading that slow-moving ground force into the Eastern Region. What kind of war would we be fighting then? It would just be like delivering goods to their doorstep!"

Seeing that Balor had agreed, Talon turned to Snik and Lin Feng: "Baron Snik, Baron Lin Feng, do you have any questions?"

Snik rubbed his hands together and shook his head: "No problem, just follow the instructions."

Lin Feng nodded: "No problem."

Talon closed the booklet and stood up: "Then please, the three barons, return to your respective territories to handle matters today."

We'll meet here again at this time tomorrow, and then use the portal to travel to the Southern Region.

The teleportation portal to the Eastern Region has been interfered with by the Demonic Sect and is no longer usable.

The three responded and got up to leave.

Balor hoisted the earth-shattering stake onto his shoulder and strode ahead.

Snik followed behind him, jogging quickly with short steps, muttering to himself again, probably discussing with Balor whether to bring a few more bottles of medicine tomorrow.

Lin Feng walked at the back, glanced back at the dark gold door, and then stepped out.
