Chapter 2255 - 2456: The Disruptor

Although Hao Jian had been loafing around for a long time and hadn't touched this kind of thing for ages—all of it was handled by Shu Ya—once he actually started, it was smooth sailing, his posture looking pretty professional. So under his interview, it didn't take long before the interview was over.

Five people, three men and two women. He fired off several questions in a row to probe them. They had all prepared well enough, but for some questions their brains clearly weren't fast enough, and they couldn't answer on the spot. Luckily they were smart and eventually managed to answer.

Hao Jian wasn't deliberately making things hard for them; these were all the most practical questions, so it was better to ask. After all, when you're recruiting for the company, you recruit people who are useful. Keeping useless people on the payroll is completely unnecessary. Even if you've got money, that's not how you spend it—you don't just throw it into a black hole.

If he really did that, then he would be a bona fide wastrel. Shu Ya worked herself to the bone out there, and it wouldn't take long before he squandered everything she earned. Even having a capable "virtuous wife" like Shu Ya would be totally wasted.

"Alright, you can go back now. The company will send out the interview results within a day or two." Hao Jian stood up at once, smiling. "I hope each of you can find an ideal job."

As he spoke, Hao Jian shot a glance at Minister Chuandao. Since Chuandao was a minister, he at least had that much intuition; he immediately caught on and went to arrange the follow-up procedures for these interviewees. Hao Jian already had a rough plan in his mind: out of the five, only three would pass the interview; the other two would be cut.

But the interview results couldn't be announced yet. They had to wait until the candidates left and then inform them two or three days later, to give them some psychological buffer. This, Hao Jian understood.

Once Minister Chuandao had seen the five people out, he walked back to Hao Jian's side, and Hao Jian silently handed him the list in his hand. Chuandao glanced over it and immediately understood.

"Then… Mr. Hao, I'll go handle the other work first." Because of the way he'd offended Hao Jian before, Minister Chuandao was still brooding over it, terrified of angering Hao Jian again. Even the way he spoke and moved was extra cautious.

Hao Jian just waved his hand and said, "Go. Do a good job."

Minister Chuandao nodded, then carefully slipped out of Shu Ya's office. The moment he closed the door behind him, he suddenly realized his back was drenched in cold sweat, soaking his suit through.

Only then did he realize he had just made a round trip to the "Ghost Gate" and back.

After finishing all this, Hao Jian basically had nothing left to do, but Shu Ya still hadn't returned. Since that was the case, he had no choice but to sit back down in the chair and wait for her. He checked the time; with the interview and everything else, more than an hour had passed, yet Shu Ya still hadn't come back. That inevitably made him suspicious.

Suspicious or not, she had plenty on her plate. Being delayed a while was normal. So he just sat there quietly, thinking of her.

Just then, his phone suddenly rang. It was Feng Xiao. He frowned, then picked up.

"Young Master Hao, bad news, President Shu is in danger!" Feng Xiao's tone was urgent.

As soon as he heard that, Hao Jian's expression changed on the spot. He hurriedly asked, "What happened? What's going on with President Shu? Where are you?"

Feng Xiao said, "President Shu was negotiating a deal with someone, but the talk fell apart. Now they've surrounded her and won't let her leave. Young Master Hao, you have to come. We're short-handed here, we're barely holding on. President Shu is in danger!"

"Where are you? I'll rush over right away!" Hao Jian's voice grew more urgent. If anything happened to Shu Ya, he'd be the one most on edge.

At that moment Feng Xiao forced himself to switch on his professional training, forcibly calming himself down. He quickly recalled the address and told it to Hao Jian, giving him the full, detailed location from start to finish.

"Young Master Hao, hurry…" Feng Xiao said anxiously.

"Got it!" Hao Jian's face was tight with anxiety. "Hold the line for now, I'm coming immediately. Tell those people this: if President Shu suffers even the slightest harm, I'll make sure they regret it for the rest of their lives!"

With that, Hao Jian hurriedly hung up. This was no time for "idle chit-chat." Before, maybe Shu Ya had been teasing him, but this time was no joke. Judging from Feng Xiao's tone, plus the noise and shouting in the background, it was obvious trouble had really hit.

And on the phone it sounded like they were still arguing over something, full-on furious. He knew Shu Ya wasn't the type who could act; she was always straightforward with her feelings. So she had to be in danger, otherwise it wouldn't sound like that. His face tightened with worry as he set down the phone.

Feng Xiao knowing his number didn't surprise him at all. Since Feng Xiao had been arranging things earlier, of course he'd have his phone.

He pulled himself together, told himself to stay calm, then sprang up from the chair and bolted out of the office. He glanced around and spotted the female staffer who'd served him tea earlier standing nearby. He pointed at her immediately and said, "You, come with me."

The female staffer had been busy with her work, but she was well aware of Hao Jian's status and capability. The moment she heard him call her, she rushed straight over. When she got close and saw the anger and ferocity on his face, she didn't dare say a single word, just followed behind him in silence.

The others saw this too and were instantly a bit stunned, wondering who this guy was—how could a single sentence from him make even a minister follow along, looking all respectful? They still didn't know Hao Jian's true identity, and since the female staffer held a relatively high position, they were pretty bewildered.

Only Minister Chuandao was in the loop. So when he saw how urgent Hao Jian looked, he immediately got nervous as well.

Very soon, Hao Jian led the female staffer downstairs and out of the building, then down to the underground parking lot. He asked where her car was. She pointed to a silver-white car, and Hao Jian pulled her into the driver's seat.

Right after, Hao Jian rattled off a long address and asked if she knew it. She nodded right away and said she did. Hao Jian said, "Then you navigate for me!"

The female staffer didn't know exactly what had happened, but seeing Hao Jian's anxious expression, she could tell things were tense and didn't dare ask anything. Meanwhile, Hao Jian had already grabbed her keys and started the car.

"Fasten your seat belt," Hao Jian reminded her.

As soon as the words left his mouth, the car shot off with an insane burst of acceleration, scaring the female staffer half to death. She hurried to fasten her seat belt.

"Left turn~"

"Right turn!"

Hao Jian was driving so fast he was practically running red lights. The female staffer sat in the passenger seat, struggling to guide his route. Hao Jian's face was a blank mask—you couldn't read what he was thinking at that moment from his expression. But the aura coming off his whole body was downright terrifying.

"It's right here!" the female staffer said.

Immediately, a loud screech of braking rang out, and the car stopped in front of a high-rise building. Hao Jian jumped out, turned to the female staffer and said, "Alright, head back. There's nothing for you here."

Before the female staffer could even nod in reply, Hao Jian's figure was already gone. After that wild ride, she was a complete mess—this was the first time she'd ever seen someone drive like that, at such insane speed, like they didn't care about their life, and yet nothing had happened at all. She didn't dare think too much, just hurriedly drove off.

Hao Jian had already rushed into the building and, following the address Feng Xiao had given, headed straight upstairs.

......

Meanwhile, inside a conference room on the 27th floor of this building, the atmosphere was tense as drawn swords and bent bows.

Shu Ya sat in a chair with her legs crossed, looking extremely angry. Feng Xiao and another female secretary named Zhang Ting were standing beside her, shielding her.

Sitting opposite Shu Ya was a man with a thick, heavy gold chain around his neck, looking like he exuded raw, reckless energy from head to toe.

This man was the owner of the building, Zhang Hu. His name fit him well—there was something tigerish about him. He barreled through life and business alike. But if you underestimated him because of that, treating him like a brainless muscle-head, you'd be seriously mistaken. His looks were rough and his actions were rough, but he was someone with an extremely fine mind. Otherwise he couldn't have relied on his own strength, starting from scratch, to reach the level he was at today.

Today, it was because of a sudden move he'd made that Shu Ya had been dragged here.

Earlier, Shu Ya had been in her office working, planning to interview a few new hires later, still looking forward to Hao Jian blundering into the trap she'd carefully laid so she could mock him good and proper. She hadn't expected to suddenly get a phone call telling her that the land she'd already secured had been bought out at a higher price by someone else.

In order to match the international market and develop in multiple directions, Shu Ya had originally bought a plot of land to develop into a large-scale shopping mall. First, it would strengthen the impact of her branch office here, raise the group's brand recognition, and boost market share. Second, it would lay the groundwork for further expansion down the line.

She wasn't someone who was content with a dull life. A workaholic who liked challenges, she wanted to cross into new fields and make Shu Ya Group bigger and stronger—thus this plan was born.
