Chapter 32: 32 - Follow Me

Elias’s calmness in the face of the truth about himself and his world left even King stunned. He had completely judged him wrong. Compared to Iris, the protagonist of the Arcane Dominion world was even crazier.

"Are you fucking sick in the head? I’m denying all your efforts here. Why don’t you have any reaction at all? This truth is enough to overturn your full understanding of reality completely."

Clearly, he was the one who had started this whole thing, yet King was the one panicking right now.

An arrogant reader like him being ’slapped in the face’ by a protagonist like this made him extremely uncomfortable.

If King heard this truth from some ’reader’, he would definitely be pissed off. Because he knew he would be pissed off, he now had the feeling that Elias had ’slapped him in the face’ even though Elias had not intentionally done anything.

"Not really. I’m obviously very surprised."

Elias’s eyes blinked as he stared at King. His feelings at this moment were somewhat similar to King’s because he really couldn’t understand why King was reacting ’strangely’ like this.

"That expression is supposed to be surprise? If you tried to fool a kid with that expression, even the kid wouldn’t believe you, so don’t mess with me. Why do you think the things I told you aren’t important and keep focusing on the fact that you’re definitely going to become a great mage?"

King’s eyelids twitched at Elias’s reaction. There had better be an answer that satisfied him. Otherwise, even if he was the protagonist, he would beat him up.

Anyway, the system hadn’t forbidden it, so punching him a few times and kicking him a few times should be fine.

"Being surprised is different from being disappointed. Whether I really exist or not isn’t something that important that I need to be disappointed about, is it?"

"What do you mean? You want to become the greatest mage, but whether you exist or not isn’t important... Are you kidding me?"

King suddenly felt like his brain wasn’t enough to use right now. He needed an upgraded version before he could understand the ’amazing’ way this protagonist thought.

Instead of immediately saying what was on his mind, Elias paused for a few seconds to find another approach.

They hadn’t known each other for long, but he had already realized that King was an arrogant, stubborn, self-righteous guy. So speaking his mind directly probably wouldn’t work very well.

" You call yourself a reader, and I’m a character. So you’re one level above me, right?"

"Right, but that’s not enough. I’m one level above this entire universe! Even this world’s Heavenly Dao had to take the initiative to invite me here, so trash like you are nothing."

Suddenly getting a chance to show off, King immediately crossed his arms over his chest, his face tilted forty-five degrees upward.

What right did a ’tiny’ protagonist have to compare himself to him? At the very least, he had to bring this entire ’fictional’ universe into the comparison before it was worthy of being compared to a reader. And of course, a reader was an existence greater than this entire universe, and this result was 100% correct.

King’s tone was arrogant and smug, extremely overbearing. If Elias weren’t such an easygoing person, he would have frowned long ago while talking to King.

"Then I guess you’re just looking for an interesting experience, right?"

"You’re not wrong. This world is just a little game to me. I can clear it whenever I feel like it. I’m too great, so the goals you guys spend your entire lives striving for all feel too simple and boring to me."

King’s overly confident words made the system feel a little awkward because it didn’t have the ability to accomplish something that great.

If clearing the world meant King becoming invincible, then it was simple, but if it meant exploring every single universe, King would need an unimaginably long time.

"I understand. But if you keep your distance from everything because you think your status is above everything else, will the experience still be fun? I’m not saying your experiences from the beginning until now have all been terrible, but I’m sure you’ve missed out on a lot of things..."

"Focus on your goal. Just like me. I only think about one thing, and that is becoming the greatest mage. Nothing else matters, and nothing is allowed to stand in my way.

As for you wanting an interesting experience, then don’t let your identity stop you from experiencing everything with the right mindset."

Elias’s words left King standing there like a statue. King’s eyes were no longer focused on Elias, but instead seemed unfocused, as if he had sunk into deep thought.

That’s right. Why didn’t I think of this sooner? Always keeping the attitude of someone above everything else made me unknowingly miss out on many interesting experiences.

In King’s mind, a Big Bang seemed to explode, creating an entirely new world. Although Elias looked extremely disheveled, in King’s eyes, Elias was like a sage, a guide brought to him by fate.

"Hahaha, good. Very good! Well said. Coming here to help you wasn’t a waste after all."

King’s laughter at this moment seemed to carry a magical power that brought him and Elias closer together. Although neither of them said it out loud, the two of them were now not only a reader and a protagonist, but also two friends who had happened to meet.

"I’m glad you’re happy. After all, aside from saying these things, I don’t have the ability to actually help you with anything right now."

Elias also grinned. Even though his face was covered in blood, it couldn’t hide his friendliness.

A protagonist who knew he was being deceived but still pushed forward without hesitation in search of a chance to become a mage because it was his only opportunity. A young man facing death without even frowning, only trying his best to concoct potions. A ’coward’ who willingly offered eight parts of his potions to a stranger, but he knew that just two parts would be enough for him to become a mage.

If he wasn’t just a protagonist in some novel, King would truly admire someone like this. The moment the barrier between their identities narrowed was also the moment King began living more in accordance with the thoughts deep within his heart.

"A mage without a wand won’t do. Come with me. I’ll help you clear this dungeon so you can get the best wand."
