Chapter 10: 10 - Cultivation Academy

King had never thought much of Iris, and now he was even more disappointed in her. The strongest cultivator of the current era only had such a lowly backbone?

In his eyes, the only rank VI cultivator currently on this earth was just a little girl who had to shoulder responsibilities far beyond what she could imagine.

"You dare call me trash? Who do you think you are?"

Iris was already in a bad mood because she was thinking about the tower, and now a few words from King made her so angry that she felt like exploding.

Iris clenched her fist, tearing the collar of King’s clothes, but he still wasn’t afraid and continued speaking.

"I am a reader, while you are just a character in a novel. If I have no right to judge you, then do you have the right to judge me?"

King didn’t show any exaggerated expression, but in Iris’s eyes right now, he was asking for a beating more than anyone. If he couldn’t explain himself clearly, then he shouldn’t blame her for being ruthless.

"Why?"

"The strongest cultivator has such poor backbone, so if you’re not trash, then what are you? A true strong person would never lose heart over anything."

"Hahaha..."

This reason made Iris laugh, but her laughter sounded like she was hiding her anger. She glared at him with eyes burning as if she wanted to roast King on the spot.

"What do you understand? You’re just a brat who has never even stepped into the tower, so what gives you the right to act superior to me?"

Backbone? If she lacked that, she wouldn’t have come this far. But it had already been ten years... After killing and fighting, then having to suppress the corruption, she no longer thought like the passionate young girl she had been back then.

Facing an Iris who was about to go crazy, King’s expression remained as cold as ice. As long as it wasn’t the monster inside her, nothing about her was capable of intimidating him in the slightest.

"I don’t understand. Nor do I need to understand. I only know that despair has never helped solve a problem, and it will waste time for no reason and affect mental health. A truly strong person would never do such a stupid thing."

Iris’s gaze softened. Deep in her eyes, there was now a hint of surprise and curiosity.

She had originally thought King was just an arrogant bastard who relied on being a reader to look down on everyone and didn’t understand anything. She never expected him to have such a thoughtful way of thinking.

The more Iris thought about it, the more reasonable it seemed. King had always thought this way, and combined with the fact that he now always saw himself as a reader, he wasn’t afraid of anything.

Just like in the report earlier, King clearly wasn’t a cultivator yet, but when facing a gigantic monster that could easily crush him underfoot, he didn’t even frown, let alone show any fear.

"Who are you, really?"

"I thought you already knew? I’m a reader who somehow ended up in this world."

King frowned as he looked at her. Only after answering did he realize that she wasn’t asking about this.

"No. I mean, what did you do before? Don’t tell me you just lazed around at home reading novels?"

King’s expression suddenly turned strange for a moment. Although he quickly adjusted his expression, Iris still caught it.

"Are you kidding me? I’m not even as open-minded as someone who only lazes around at home?"

Iris’s eyelids twitched, and the corners of her mouth spasmed. King hadn’t even said anything, but she already felt insulted.

The strongest cultivator of humanity was actually inferior to someone who only knew how to laze around at home and read novels? Even if it was only in one aspect, that alone was enough to make Iris feel ashamed.

"Hmph, I don’t care how you lived before. Now that you’ve come to this world, don’t even think about lazing around with me. If you want to laze around, wait until you’re stronger than me."

"I..."

Iris didn’t give King any chance to speak at all. She only snorted in annoyance before dragging him along at full speed toward the Cultivation Academy.

King originally wanted to argue with her, but she didn’t give him a chance to speak, so he could only let her continue misunderstanding him.

With so many new things in this world, and who knew how many other worlds were still waiting for him to explore, how could he laze around like he used to?

As they approached the Cultivation Academy, Iris slowly lowered both her speed and altitude. Passing through the clouds, a magnificent scene appeared before the two of them.

Amid the snow-covered mountains of the Swiss Alps, the massive Cultivation Academy rose above the sea of clouds as if this were a celestial realm rather than the mortal world.

The entrance gate stood dozens of meters tall and had the appearance of an ancient sect gate, with black tiled roofs carved with dragon patterns, but underneath were silver metal escalators carrying streams of people up the mountain.

Two gigantic dragon statues stood majestically on both sides of the sect gate. Their bodies coiled around towering stone pillars, their claws tightly gripping smooth, glowing round stones.

Their entire bodies were carved from black stone mixed with silver metal, while each scale was inlaid with veins of blue light flowing like blood vessels.

The dragon heads were held high amid the mist, their glowing eyes looking down at the crowds below, majestic as if guarding the gate leading into a celestial realm.

Behind the gate, ancient palaces were intertwined with towering glass skyscrapers. Before even entering, they could already see quite a few cultivators stepping on flying swords and soaring freely through the sky, freer than any bird.

At the center of the academy, a gigantic tower pierced straight through the clouds. The tower itself was a modern structure made of glass and steel, but at the top stood a towering palace with curved roofs and sharp towers reaching high into the sky.

Many places continuously released hazy white smoke carrying a light, pleasant fragrance, making this place feel even less like the mortal world.

The magnificent natural scenery combined with extravagant structures that defied common sense made this place seem as if it had completely broken away from reality.

King always acted superior and indifferent toward everything in this world, but at this moment, he stared at this superstructure without even blinking.
