Superior Physician
Chapter 89: Get Out of Huashan Hospital
Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Get Out of Huashan Hospital
At 10:00 PM, Qian Guangyu, a renowned lawyer in Binhai, issued a legal notice on behalf of his client, Yu Zhiming. The notice addressed the viral video of a breast examination that was a topic of heated online discussion.
The notice stated that the video had been secretly recorded and maliciously distributed by someone with ulterior motives, with the intent of ruining Dr. Yu Zhiming’s reputation.
It explained that the breast examination was lengthy because Dr. Yu Zhiming had made a significant discovery. He strongly suspected the woman in the video had breast cancer and required a more thorough examination for confirmation.
The legal notice did not, however, clarify which party had initiated the breast examination.
On this point, the statements given by both parties at the police station were contradictory.
Lawyer Qian and Qi Yue believed that as long as it could be confirmed that the woman actually had breast cancer, it didn’t matter who initiated the exam.
Besides, even if she did have breast cancer, what would happen even if Yu Zhiming admitted he was the one who suggested it?
According to the other party’s statement, Yu Zhiming had insisted that Liu Xuan had a serious issue with her breast and required a detailed examination.
If a serious problem were indeed discovered, it would prove Yu Zhiming’s judgment correct. In fact, his diagnostic skills could be said to have taken a massive leap, reaching an almost supernatural level of perception.
Therefore, the crucial point now was whether Liu Xuan actually had breast cancer...
Because both parties offered conflicting accounts and the case was considered minor, Yu Zhiming was permitted to leave the police station after giving his statement and undergoing further questioning.
The conditions were that he had to remain available for summons and could not leave Binhai without permission.
A little after 11:00 PM, Yu Zhiming returned to his apartment in the Zijin Garden District. He was met by his Fourth Sister, whose face was etched with worry, and, surprisingly, Gu Qingning.
’This girl still hasn’t moved out?’
"Fifth Brother, where are Director Qi and Lawyer Qian?"
"They dropped me off at the complex and left."
Yu Zhiming explained, his gaze shifting to Gu Qingning.
"You’re still here. If you’re only here to gloat and mock me, then by all means, have at it."
"I’ll give you the chance. After all, even though I was set up, I was the one who made a stupid mistake."
"I can’t believe I called myself smart, only to make such a rookie mistake."
With a tense expression on her face, Gu Qingning walked right up to Yu Zhiming, then suddenly threw her arms around him in a tight hug.
"I believe you. You’re not that kind of person."
Yu Zhiming froze for a moment. As the young woman let him go, he looked into her eyes, which shone as brightly as winter stars.
"You really believe me?"
Gu Qingning nodded emphatically. "I’ve slept here for two nights, after all," she said, her expression earnest.
"I may not be some legendary beauty capable of toppling kingdoms, but I’m still a looker with a great body and face. I’m confident enough to know that."
"When you sneak glances at me, even though you’re checking me out, it’s the appreciative kind that women actually like, not that disgusting, lewd kind of stare."
"Yu Zhiming, we women are very sensitive to a man’s gaze. We can tell the difference between a good one and a bad one."
Yu Zhiming looked toward his Fourth Sister.
Yu Xiangwan nodded gently. "Fifth Brother, we really can tell the difference."
"Some gazes make us feel proud, happy, or shy. But others just make us feel disgusted and repulsed."
Yu Zhiming let out a long "Ohhh," and said, "And here I thought women evaluated a man’s gaze by taking his car, watch, and looks into account before making a final judgment."
Gu Qingning’s eyes went wide. "I’m not that kind of shallow, tacky woman who spreads her legs for money!" she said, huffing.
"Ugh, anyway! The point is, a great beauty like me has been wandering around right under your nose, and you haven’t had a single wicked thought."
"So how could you possibly molest a woman so brazenly in a place like a private dining room!"
"That’s why I believe you. You were framed."
Yu Zhiming let out a soft breath. "Gu Qingning, thank you," he said, his expression solemn.
"At a time like this, your trust is incredibly precious to me. Thank you! Thank you so much!"
"However..."
Yu Zhiming changed the subject. "There’s one thing I have to clarify. I was not ’checking you out’."
"What do you mean you weren’t?!"
Gu Qingning gestured wildly. "My long, fair, straight, and shapely legs? You’ve checked them out at least five times."
"And here..."
Gu Qingning pointed to her rather deep cleavage. "You’ve also secretly peeked here at least three times," she said with a look of contempt. "You were checking me out so hard you were practically drooling."
"Let me tell you, Yu Zhiming, I noticed every single time you snuck a look. I just didn’t call you out on the spot and embarrass you out of respect for Sister Xiang Wan."
"Hmph. I can’t believe you don’t have the guts to admit it. My already low opinion of you has just dropped even further."
Seeing her little brother rendered speechless and looking utterly mortified, Yu Xiangwan felt a laugh bubbling up.
It even lessened the worry that had been consuming her.
"Alright, it’s getting late. You two both have work tomorrow."
"Fifth Brother, go wash up."
Grateful for the save, Yu Zhiming started toward the bathroom, only to be grabbed by Gu Qingning.
"Yu Zhiming, just because I believe you this time doesn’t mean the bad blood between us is settled."
"Once you’re past this mess, I’m still going to settle all our scores, new and old."
Seeing her completely serious expression, Yu Zhiming replied in kind, "Fine. When the time comes, we’ll each rely on our own skills."
"And don’t say I didn’t warn you. I won’t go easy on you just because you trusted and supported me this time."
Gu Qingning gave a defiant pout.
"Like I’d want you to go easy on me..."
The next morning, around 6:00 AM, Yu Zhiming woke up. Instead of getting out of bed immediately like he usually did, he grabbed his phone and started browsing the internet.
To his slight relief, the online commentary wasn’t entirely a torrent of abuse calling him a sanctimonious hypocrite or a beast in human clothing.
There was another camp firmly defending him, arguing that he was just diligently checking for breast abnormalities, not committing indecent assault.
This group also pointed out that Yu Zhiming was the one who had called the police, showing no intention of seeking a private settlement. This indicated he didn’t have a guilty conscience.
Furthermore, he hadn’t had a single drop of alcohol and had been wearing surgical gloves during the exam.
As a young doctor with a promising future, he would have to be out of his mind to do something so depraved in a semi-public place like a private restaurant room.
Therefore, it was highly likely that the young Dr. Yu Zhiming had either been misunderstood or framed.
However, the dissenting voices were far more numerous.
Many sensual private photos of the other party, Liu Xuan, had been posted online.
A large number of netizens commented that if faced with such a "deadly weapon" and given the chance to get their hands on it, they couldn’t guarantee they wouldn’t let their dicks do the thinking and do something reckless.
Perhaps because people were accustomed to the constant reversals in online scandals, a more rational voice also emerged.
This voice urged netizens not to add fuel to the fire, to refrain from making snap judgments and engaging in online witch hunts, and to wait patiently for the official police statement.
Yu Zhiming knew that the incident wouldn’t truly be over until Liu Xuan’s biopsy and pathology reports were released.
’Jingda Medical School is probably thrilled to see me in this mess. It takes some of the public pressure off them.’
Yu Zhiming made a point to check the Jingda Medical School forums and found quite a few comments from netizens.
They were congratulating the school on its foresight for not admitting "medical scum" like Yu Zhiming...
Regardless of the public outcry, life and work had to go on.
Yu Zhiming got up, washed up, did his morning exercises, and ate breakfast with his usual appetite.
His routine was basically the same as it had always been.
The biggest change was what he wore to go outside.
To prevent some overzealous, "righteous" youth from jumping out and giving him a beating, he followed the enthusiastic advice of his Fourth Sister and Gu Qingning and put on a sun hat, sunglasses, and a face mask.
Then, with the two of them escorting him—one in front and one behind—Yu Zhiming biked with them and arrived at Huashan Hospital without any trouble.
Just as Yu Zhiming thought he could hide away in the hospital and spend a relatively quiet day buried in his work, the unexpected happened.
Around 8:30 AM, Yu Zhiming parted ways with his Fourth Sister and Gu Qingning. As he arrived alone in front of the five-story building of the Qi Yue Medical Research Center, a group of ten to twenty young doctors in white coats, both men and women, seemed to appear out of nowhere.
With a snap, they unfurled two white banners with black writing in front of Yu Zhiming.
"FILTHY ANIMAL, GET OUT OF HUASHAN HOSPITAL!"
"MORALLY CORRUPT! UNFIT TO BE A DOCTOR!"
