Chapter 98: Nightmare Hospital
Her dark hair plastered to her face, Jiang Fei felt her hand on the mouse grow as heavy as lead, leaving her completely unable to close the open image.
In the color photograph, Han Le smiled with sheer joy. Dragging a mutilated corpse, he looked like a fisherman who had just hauled in a massive catch, proudly gesturing at the camera.
"Found out."
"No, exposed."
Jiang Fei heard rapid breathing behind her, feeling hot breath puff against the back of her neck.
She was terrified; it took every ounce of her strength just to turn her head.
"Sorry for scaring you. The person in the photo has absolutely nothing to do with me. That's my older brother."
"To prove I'm not lying, I'll wake him up for you right now."
Han Le stared straight at her, suddenly seeming like an entirely different person. "Brother, come out and clear this up! You're the one who dismembered the patient! Third Brother and I didn't do a thing!"
Inside the cramped electrical room, Han Le talked to himself. Each of his personalities was drastically different. Up close, it was glaringly obvious—the lunatic's expressions continuously shifted across a single face."Brother, you're the murderer. This has nothing to do with us."
"That is undeniable. I detest blood."
A moment later, a completely different voice tore from Han Le's mouth—rough and brimming with hostility. "Bastards! Who told you two to sneak out?! If outsiders spot us, they'll treat us like patients!"
After his roar, Han Le seemed to notice Jiang Fei for the very first time. His mouth slowly gaped open. "So beautiful!"
Jiang Fei's slender figure shrank back against the computer desk. Trembling with fear, her pretty face took on a delicate, pitiful pallor under the dim light.
"This woman is mine!" Han Le shouted, reaching out to grab Jiang Fei's face. His dominant personality was incredibly overbearing.
"Hey, hey! I found this woman first! She belongs to me!"
Han Le's hand froze in midair. His expression shifted, a trace of greed creeping into his eyes.
"I can yield anything else, but not this woman. It's been so long since I've seen such beautiful material!"
Han Le retracted his hand and propped up his chin, his eyes roving over Jiang Fei as if appraising a piece of premium jade.
Leaning against the desk, Jiang Fei was as pale as a sheet. She wanted to run, but her legs had turned to jelly. Even standing up was agonizingly difficult.
"I am definitely not giving up someone this beautiful!"
"I want the first taste!"
"Get lost, she's mine!"
Jiang Fei's hand groped blindly across the desk, but apart from the mouse and keyboard, it was completely bare.
"Boss, Second Brother, can you two stop arguing? I've thought of a very fair solution."
Han Le swapped to yet another expression, his eyes flashing with sly triumph. "There are three of us, so let's just chop her into three equal pieces. One share each. I want one of her hands and her head!"
"Good idea, but why do you get to pick first? I want her head too."
"If you two want her head, then I'll take her lower half."
Three demons resided within the same body. Their morbid bargaining suffocated Jiang Fei in absolute terror. She could barely breathe, her mind consumed by the figure of a single person: 'Gao Jian, where are you?'
"Alright, it's decided then. The head and left hand go to Third Brother, the two legs go to Second Brother, and I get the rest!" Thoroughly satisfied, Han Le pulled a sharp knife from his thick hospital gown. "Let's see, where should I start?"
He was incredibly strong. Pinning Jiang Fei's shoulder down with one hand, he rested the blade against her snow-white neck with the other. "So beautiful, just like silk. Don't be afraid. I'll cut very slowly. I'll let you fully enjoy the process."
As the tip of the knife slid down, Han Le's eyes practically spewed fire. The veins on his face bulged, making him look hideous and grotesque.
Stab!
The blade pierced the skin like it was tearing into a rotten sack. Bright red, beating organs churned, then slid out from the ruptured flesh.
Han Le clutched his own stomach. He looked to his side in absolute disbelief. A foolish-looking little boy was giggling as he yanked out the blood-red Scalpel.
"Don't bully Mom!"
Han Le's three personalities seemed capable of sharing the body's physical pain. Arching his back like a cooked red shrimp, he swung a fist and knocked the little boy to the floor.
"Boss, my stomach hurts so much!"
"Shut up! Quickly stuff the things that fell out back inside."
"So much blood! The boat is leaking, I can't plug it!"
When I pushed the door open and walked in, I happened to see Han Le collapsed on the floor, gripping a knife.
"He's a homicidal maniac! I found pictures of him on the computer!" Seeing me enter, Jiang Fei finally breathed a sigh of relief.
I grabbed a chair from the room and knocked him unconscious, then handed the sharp knife to Jiang Fei. "Did you stab him? Nicely done."
"It was this child." Still lingering in fear, Jiang Fei pointed at Song Xiaofeng. Even though the little boy had just saved her life, she still didn't dare get too close to him. She silently hid behind me. It seemed that in this entire building, I was the only person she would trust.
"Song Xiaofeng?" When I came in, I had seen the little boy holding a knife, but I hadn't made the connection at the time.
"Xiaofeng, give me the knife."
The child had been hammered in the chest by Han Le's fist and took a long time to stand back up. But the usually foolish and slow boy was extremely assertive this time.
He shook his head and hid the hand holding the Scalpel behind his back. "No!"
Seeing his firm attitude, I had no choice but to keep a closer eye on him. "Just don't hurt yourself."
Dragging Han Le's body over to the door, I locked the electrical room and started browsing through the files on the computer.
I had been in too much of a hurry earlier and hadn't looked closely. That oversight had almost led to a massive disaster.
I opened the folders, fast-forwarding one by one through videos that a normal person wouldn't be able to stomach for even a single minute.
It wasn't just Han Le in them. The short-haired woman, the middle-aged man, and the young Doctor who died in the Tuesday cell—every single one of them appeared in these videos.
"Brother!" As I watched the last few videos at the bottom of the folder, Song Xiaofeng walked up to the computer. He pointed at a constantly crying child on the screen and said, "Xiaoyao!"
"That's Song Xiaoyao? Are you sure?"
"Yeah!"
This video was recorded several months ago. The background wasn't the psychiatric hospital, but a bathroom. A masked man brutally murdered the child. The entire process was absolutely heinous.
I also noticed a detail: in the video, there was a woman bound hand and foot, forced to watch the entire process from the side. She had cried so hard she was nearly blind.
Pausing the video, I zoomed in on the woman's face. It was the exact same madwoman from the underground cell.
At the end of the video, the masked man forced the woman to smile, threatening to kill the other two children if she refused.
"What an absolute lunatic!" I couldn't imagine anyone in this world being so insane. To actually lay hands on his own family...
From the subsequent videos and photo files, I gradually figured out this man's identity. He was the director of Henshan Psychiatric Hospital, a thirty-four-year-old double doctorate holder in psychology and human anatomy.
This man was an elite who had studied abroad. It was said that he even made the newspapers when he first established the psychiatric hospital in Jiangcheng.
He was incredibly low-profile, living as a recluse. Obsessed with his academic research, he rarely interacted with the outside world.
The files on the computer were roughly divided into two categories. One consisted of pure academic reports; the other of murder videos.
I also noticed a rather interesting detail: the very first murder video on the computer was filmed on January 1st of this year. Henshan Psychiatric Hospital also implemented closed-door treatment starting January 1st, going through a massive ordeal to relocate from Jiangcheng's Northern Suburb to the Southern Suburbs.
When the last livestream ended, I had a conversation with the bus company manager in the hearse. He told me that Henshan Prison was originally located in the Southern Suburbs. It only moved to the Northern Suburb later due to various reasons, and because the name "Henshan" had been used for so many years, it was never changed.
As for Henshan Psychiatric Hospital, after Henshan Prison moved away, it deliberately relocated from the Northern Suburb to the Southern Suburbs. This current location was the original site of Henshan Prison. Even many of the patient wards inside had been converted from prison cells.
"Why would they do this? What exactly happened on January 1st?"
Looking at the densely packed murder videos in the folders, I suddenly made another discovery. "Every video starts with a date and a 'test' location. This perfectly matches the numbers on the underground cells. On Monday, he tortured the person in Cell One. On Tuesday, he tortured the person in Cell Two. Every day corresponds exactly."
"But there are eight cells underground in total. It seems none of the murder videos feature any scenes from the eighth cell. Just what makes that cell different?"
