Super Thrilling Live Broadcast
Chapter 788: Yin-Yang Ghost Eyes
The true culprit who killed the other live show streamers wasn't the Butcher. Right now, aside from the Butcher himself, I was the only one who knew this secret.
The memory fragments that surfaced after opening the Spleen Aperture were incredibly blurry, but the information they revealed was absolutely crucial to me!
At the end of the memory, the 'me' in the vision had said a single sentence to the Butcher—if we ever met again in the Deep Dream Layer, he would understand everything.
The sentence meant nothing on its own, but the Black-Robed Anchor and I were already planning to kill the Butcher in a dream. This meant I was highly likely to meet him in a dream over the next few days.
'It can't be a coincidence, but why don't I remember it at all?' The memories surfacing in my mind felt so familiar, yet incredibly foreign.
I couldn't deduce much from a single memory fragment. I simply kept my guard up; whatever was going on between the Black-Robed Anchor and the Butcher probably wasn't that simple, either.
With the Spleen Aperture open, the yin true qi harmonized my internal organs and eased the conflict between the Daoist arts and ghost arts within my body. The yin and yang meridians operated in perfect balance. I felt like I had never been as powerful as I was right now.
'Since my Daoist arts have broken through to a new realm, I can also cultivate entirely new Daoist methods.' Ghost arts and Daoist arts had different focuses. Although ghost arts packed massive power, I had to admit that Daoist arts were simply more practical a lot of the time.
The Black Leather Suitcase holding the scriptures and broadcasting equipment had been tossed into Bai Ya'er's car the first time I helped her inside, and I had never taken it out.
To cultivate the subsequent Daoist methods, I went outside, lifted the car's sun cover, and fished the Black Leather Suitcase out from under the seat.'The mark I made is still here. No one has rummaged through it.'
Just as I lifted the suitcase and was about to return to my room, a massive explosion erupted in Jinghai, somewhere near the inner district! Soon after, a ball of intense fire raged at the edge of the horizon.
'That direction... looks like Hongqiao Port!' I had just returned from Hongqiao. Logically, the port closed after midnight, and the number of people gathered there would have dwindled. No major accidents should occur, not to mention the group of police officers stationed there to investigate the multi-car pileup.
'Who has the guts to strike so brazenly?'
The sky filled with the glow of the flames, reflecting a fiery red in my eyes.
'Jinghai is already descending into chaos. I need to speed things up.' To do a job well, a craftsman must first sharpen his tools. I carried the Black Leather Suitcase into the back room and first leafed through the Detailed Explanation of Profound Truth Dao Methods. Following my realm breakthrough, I could read more and more of the Taboo Incantations. Among them, a few wielded power that was absolutely top-tier even among Lesser Vehicle Talismans.
'The path of talismans is divided into Lower Vehicle, Lesser Vehicle, Upper Vehicle, and Mahayana. From my impression, Upper Vehicle Talismans can already pierce the heavens and earth. I wonder just how terrifying the power of a Mahayana Talisman would be.' After memorizing all the incantations, hand seals, and accompanying footwork for the Talisman Incantations, I dug out the Yin-Yang Ghost Art and began to read.
Looking across both Jinghai and Jiangcheng, the Ghost Art Fifth Layer was a pinnacle existence. Ghost arts were easy to begin, but cultivating them to a profound realm was incredibly difficult. The Ghost Cultivator first needed an iron will capable of suppressing the ghosts of the five directions, as well as the comprehension and talent to grasp the Six Paths of reincarnation, and even greater serendipity to continuously break through to new realms.
Risk and reward were proportional. Ghost arts were arduous to cultivate, but once a breakthrough succeeded, one's strength multiplied exponentially.
Reaching the fifth layer of the Yin-Yang Ghost Art meant I could practice quite a few more ghost arts. There were a good hundred methods for commanding ghosts and neutralizing malicious energy alone. Limited on time, I didn't cultivate them one by one. Instead, I selected a secret method that looked the most bizarre and possessed the greatest power.
'Yin-Yang Ghost Eyes!'
When the Profound Truth Dao's Heavenly Eye was cultivated to the utmost realm, it could see through human hearts at a glance, comprehend the shifting rules of heaven and earth, and even fathom the will of the heavens—its power was extraordinary. Unfortunately, practicing the Heavenly Eye required a painfully long time.
The effects of the Yin-Yang Ghost Eyes were entirely different from the Profound Truth Judge's Eye. They couldn't let me see further away, nor could they grasp the subtlest changes in a person's heart, but the ghost eyes possessed a power capable of terrifying all demons and evil entities.
The introduction to the ghost eyes in the Yin-Yang Ghost Art was vague, only stating that it was a highly potent technique capable of enslaving spirits and commanding ghosts, while simultaneously being extremely prone to inviting ominous misfortune.
With my merit currently sitting at negative millions, I couldn't care less about inviting ominous misfortune. I chose this ghost art for another critical reason: the acupuncture points involved in the ghost eyes didn't conflict with the Heavenly Eye. The text clearly recorded that if one already practiced an eye-strengthening technique, mastering the ghost eyes would be much easier.
I was about to enter the Dream Realm and clash with extremely dangerous figures like the Butcher and the Black-Robed Anchor. Gaining another ocular cultivation method would be a tremendous help in seeing through illusions and controlling the overall situation.
I shut my eyes tightly and circulated the yin energy within my Eighteen Yin Apertures, condensing the energy into needles. Following the book's instructions, I carefully stimulated the acupuncture points around my eyeballs.
"Azure heaven and bright earth, murky yin and clear yang, open my dharma eye, divide the yin and yang!"
By the time I opened my eyes again, my irises gleamed in hues of azure and crimson. A whole world seemed concealed within my pupils. A single, simple glance was enough to strike fear and panic into a person's heart.
'This method actually gave me a pleasant surprise.' I hadn't formally used the Yin-Yang Ghost Eyes yet, but just the coercive pressure radiating from my eyes was already enough to leave me highly satisfied.
'Another trump card in my hand.' After memorizing every technique I could use from the Yin-Yang Ghost Art and the Detailed Explanation of Profound Truth Dao Methods, I hid the Black Leather Suitcase back in the car and left the clinic alone.
'I wonder if that Daoist at the White Rose Pedestrian Street is still there. I infused him with an obsession. If he isn't treated in time, his temperament will drastically change, and he'll be slowly devoured by the obsession.' The obsessions originating from the Pig Cage Apartments shared a faint mutual resonance. Once I roughly pinpointed the direction, I hailed a taxi and rushed toward the pedestrian street.
'With so many police officers at Hongqiao Port, an explosion and fire still broke out. A direct confrontation has already begun; I just don't know who made the move.' Out of the foreign forces entering Jinghai—whether it was the Fox Immortal Desiccated Corpse, the great completion Ghost Mother, or the Uncorrupted Bone possessing two souls—every single one of them was a lawless overlord. In their eyes, the living were no different from ants.
The Black-Robed Anchor had entered the city proper to search for Zhu Li. According to our previous plan, it wasn't suitable for me to show my face for the time being.
I had the taxi stop a hundred meters away from the pedestrian street. After paying the fare, I found an empty corner and slipped the Good and Evil Asura Mask back on.
The pedestrian street was deathly silent, and those security guards had vanished without a trace.
I walked slowly through the area. The glass door of the White Rose lay shattered across the ground, and the indicator lights on the surrounding surveillance cameras had all gone dark. This place had become a blind spot.
Yin energy swept out. Sensing the location of the obsession I had planted, I stepped inside the White Rose.
"I've kept you waiting." The moment I entered the shop, I spotted the middle-aged Daoist cleaning up the scene.
He looked miserable. His fingers were simply bandaged with strips of cloth torn from his clothes, and blood was still seeping through.
"Didn't you say you wouldn't come find me until dawn?" Upon seeing me, the middle-aged Daoist backed up several steps like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.
"I was afraid you might do something irrational, so I came early to check on you." When I left the pedestrian street, I had already prepared to push into the inner district, but the Black-Robed Anchor's appearance had forced me to return early. "You did well. Did you silence those security guards, too?"
The middle-aged Daoist's mouth twitched. "How could I possibly do something so deranged? Stop measuring the heart of a gentleman with the yardstick of a scoundrel."
"Then where are they? Did you let them run?" I asked in an unfriendly tone.
"Committing so many sins of slaughter, aren't you afraid of karmic retribution?" the middle-aged Daoist said coldly. "I used the Xiaozhuang Secret Method to make them believe they were dreaming, and I've already sent them back to the break room. I also deleted the security footage for you. Once I finish disposing of this mess in the White Rose, no one should be able to figure out you were here tonight."
To my surprise, the middle-aged Daoist had done an excellent job. "Deleting security footage, cleaning up a crime scene... these aren't just things a Daoist cultivator is skilled at. You must have another identity, right?"
"I was expelled from my sect and came to Jinghai to make a living. I cooperate with the local police to maintain order in the jurisdiction, handling the things they can't deal with. After working together for so long, I've gotten a general understanding of their investigative methods." The middle-aged Daoist was very open and didn't hide anything from me.
After chatting for a few moments, I finally understood that Jinghai was different from Jiangcheng. This place was one of Huaxia's top-tier metropolises. It was a chaotic mix of good and bad, with demons and ghosts hiding among the populace. The strength of ordinary people simply couldn't handle it. Thus, people like this middle-aged Daoist emerged, attached to public offices but maintaining very little actual interaction with them.
Looking him up and down, I didn't beat around the bush. "How many others like you are there in Jinghai?"
If the Black-Robed Anchor and I wanted to succeed, we had to calculate every faction into our plans.
"A lot. I don't know the exact number. Some Celestial Masters can't stand being restricted and will quietly leave after staying for a short while. In any case, with the Five Great Upper Sects suppressing things from above, as long as no major chaos breaks out, no one will step in to manage it."
The middle-aged Daoist wasn't lying. I nodded. "Then where does your strength rank among that group?"
"Upper-middle tier. The vast majority are just outer-sect disciples who have grasped a tiny bit of the basics. Very few have truly entered the inner halls and received the teachings of a Celestial Master." The middle-aged Daoist clutched his festering fingers. "Jinghai is huge, and it's the foundation of Huaxia's will of the people. It's hard to guarantee that some reclusive old monster isn't hiding here. If you want to stir up trouble in Jinghai, I advise you to drop the idea."
"I don't want to cause trouble either, but a lot of the time, I have no choice. You heard that massive explosion at Hongqiao Port, didn't you? The flames are spreading. The riot has already begun." I looked at the middle-aged Daoist, sucked the obsession out of his body, and stepped into the darkness. "Take care of yourself. Next time we meet, don't get in my way."
