Super Thrilling Live Broadcast
Chapter 775: First Aid
The torrential rain that had poured all night finally ceased, and the sun rose as usual. I stood on the dirt road between Longchang and the Red Building, unable to calm my mind for a long time.
Looking down at the Live Show Phone, I happened to spot Master Tianxin's comment in the chat. Without thinking too much about it, I casually asked, "Master, why are there so many regrets in this world?"
Master Tianxin seemed to be pondering as well. After a long while, he finally sent a reply: "This is a Saha World, and the Saha World is built on regret. Without regret, you wouldn't be able to feel joy even if you were given all the happiness in the world."
"Master, you know that's not what I'm asking." I gently shook my head. "No matter how hard you try, nothing changes. After cycling through reincarnation for so long, you still just end up dissipating. If everything is destined, don't you think that's too cruel?"
I waited a long time but didn't see another response from Master Tianxin, until the screen of my Live Show Phone flashed. A new message had arrived in my inbox.
"Live stream task: Arrive at Longchang Community at midnight and survive until dawn to complete, rewarding 1 point; live stream viewership exceeded 20,000, rewarding 15 points; received a total of 3 Yuanbao in tips during the live stream, rewarding 3 points; the commission from the Underworld remains incomplete. The commissioned task will continue and be carried over into the next live stream task until completed!"
"Optional Task 1: Find three shattered Mirror Fragments, rewarding 3 points. Note: Delivering them to Jiangcheng Lightless Road and handing them over to the Live Show will yield an extra reward!"
"Optional Task 2: Find the missing shattered face. Incomplete."
"Tally complete: A total of 22 points were obtained from this live stream. Current total points: 100!"
"Fourteenth live stream completed. Unlocking new product catalog.""Reincarnation Mirror Fragment (100 points); Persona Mask (if a dark, bestial ego dwells within your heart, this mask can help you conceal everything; 5 points)."
"'Dream Diary' (incomplete, only five pages remaining, 5 points)..."
I was still waiting for Master Tianxin's answer. I briefly scanned the product catalog, noticed that most of the new items were related to the Dream Realm, and closed the message.
After exiting the inbox, I realized the live stream had already ended. The phone screen only displayed those few pitiful apps.
"Master Tianxin probably has a lot of reservations," I muttered, putting my phone away and curling my lip. "Judging by his tone, he must be a man with a past."
Pulling my thoughts back, I went over my gains from this live stream. I had earned very few points—not nearly as many as last time—and was left with a lot of troublesome matters to resolve.
'The ghost gate opened right in the center of Longchang, disrupting the operation of the grand formation. Because Zhu Li didn't follow them into reincarnation, he managed to escape disaster. By now, he must have left with Bai Ya'er.'
That man was the embodiment of obsession; leaving him unchecked would probably lead to chaos.
It wasn't that I liked meddling in other people's business. I was just worried that if he fell into someone else's hands, he might leak information about me. Furthermore, to me right now, an obsession was an excellent tonic. Devouring it would be of immense help in my practice of the ghost art.
"Zhu Li escaping isn't urgent, but that optional task for the shattered face must be treated seriously." This was the first time I had failed to complete a commission from the Underworld during a live stream. According to the Live Show, this commission would remain active until I finished it.
"A single live stream is already so difficult for me. If two different commissions get tangled together, the difficulty will probably increase exponentially."
Time was tight and the task was arduous, but I did have a few clues.
Putting away the Good and Evil Asura Mask, I originally wanted to search for the black umbrella He Bo had given me. But considering that the young man who lived on the top floor was too heavily injured, delaying any longer might put his life at risk. After thinking it over, I decided to leave it.
"Longchang's terrain is very peculiar. It hides three Reincarnation Mirror Fragments. When I get the chance later, I'll have to ask Half-Immortal Liu or Daoist master Wan about it." Having fled to Jinghai all alone, I didn't have a single friend by my side. Blind Liu, whom I had always treated as a partner, probably thought I was dead by now.
Driving the stray thoughts from my mind, I entered the Longchang ruins. Carrying the unconscious young man on my back, I ran to Old Granny's house first.
After asking her for the exact locations of nearby clinics and pharmacies, I quietly placed the Embroidered Ball into the bamboo basket.
Having done all this, I hoisted the young man back onto my shoulders, said goodbye to Old Granny, and went downstairs.
Bai Ya'er's car was parked at the entrance of the Red Building. She and Zhu Li had quietly slipped away last night, heading who knows where, but they had left the car behind.
On the dilapidated sedan, bloodstains and the severed limbs of frogs lingered on the tires, and the remnants of drunken vomit could still be vaguely seen beneath the chassis.
Pushing open the car door, I found Bai Ya'er's high heels tossed onto the passenger seat. I casually shoved them under the seat. "This guy has been blinded in both eyes and deafened in one ear. Completely healing him is impossible. If I take him to a major hospital and they interrogate me, what am I supposed to say?"
As I looked at myself in the rearview mirror, I remembered that the Human Skin Mask had an expiration date. I had worn it for too long without any maintenance, and its edges were already showing slight wrinkles.
"I've seen the medicinal fluid for maintaining the Human Skin Mask in the ancient disguise technique, but those medicinal ingredients are too hard to get my hands on." Tossing the young man onto the backseat, I was somewhat at a loss for how to handle him.
Having just arrived in Jinghai, I had no fixed residence and was currently wanted by two provinces. At a time like this, doing even the slightest strange thing would draw the attention of the police.
"After the live stream broadcast, anyone paying attention will know I'm not dead. Now I can only hope that the Red Building's remote location means not many people know about it." Torrential rain had poured all night, only stopping in the morning. Under the pitch-black cover of night, it would be very difficult for the livestream viewers to figure out where this place was from the background of the broadcast.
"I can't harbor any wishful thinking. I have to be cautious. One wrong step, and it's all over." I gripped the steering wheel, my expression grim. "There's blood on the car, and I don't have a driver's license. Going into the urban district is too prone to accidents. Staying in the Red Building is also dangerous. The obsession has already left; without those entities lurking to conceal the area, it won't be long before outsiders notice something is wrong."
After mulling it over from every angle, I realized there was no perfect solution. I simply decided to drive along the road toward the nearest pharmacy first.
About half an hour later, I bought various medicines and bandages, grabbed a large amount of food and water from a small shop nearby, and then left, driving straight out to a desolate area without stopping.
Once I was certain no one would pass by, I gave the young man's wounds some basic treatment.
Prolonged illness makes a doctor. I hadn't been a live show streamer for very long, but having been in and out of hospitals over a dozen times, I had picked up the gist of various surgical first-aid procedures.
"His eyes have been completely blinded, and the necrotic flesh inside is too close to his brain. If I operate rashly, I might just kill him." After going in a huge circle, the problem returned to the starting point. Just as I was worrying, the fingers of the unconscious young man suddenly twitched. His cracked lips parted slightly, and he let out a very faint sound.
"You're awake?!" I hurriedly helped him sit up, opened a bottle of water, and brought it to his lips. He didn't drink. Instead, he kept murmuring something under his breath.
I channeled the Profound Truth Mental Method and relied on Breath Listening to finally hear him clearly. The young man was murmuring a place and a name: "Jinghai Medical University School of Forensic Medicine, Ninth Master Yan..."
"You want me to take you to this place?" I quickly understood the young man's intention, but understanding it was one thing, and doing it was another. Jinghai Medical University was renowned nationwide. I wasn't entirely sure if they had a School of Forensic Medicine, but I had seen their campus on the news.
"It's situated between the Northern Suburb and the urban district, and it hasn't passed Hongqiao Port, so it shouldn't be too much trouble." Turning my head to look at the dying young man, I didn't hesitate. I stepped on the gas and drove off in the general direction.
Stopping and starting along the way, constantly hiding, I had to ask many people before finally finding the place.
By the time I arrived, it was already noon. The young man's breath was as frail as a thread, and it looked like he wasn't going to make it.
"I hope this person you asked me to find can help you. Otherwise, I can only say I'm sorry." I didn't know how to save lives, but dumping and hiding a corpse without leaving a single trace was my specialty.
I parked the car on the west side of a deserted alley outside the school. Walking up to the school gate alone, I asked the security guard who was playing on his phone in the guard booth, "Do you have someone named Ninth Master Yan here?"
"Push the tower! What the fuck is the use of just getting kills? A bunch of trash!" The security guard viciously slammed his phone onto the desk. Looking up and seeing me, he hurriedly stood up. "I wasn't talking about you."
"Is there someone named Ninth Master Yan here? I'm looking for him. It's urgent!"
"Ninth Master Yan? That's a nickname, right? If you want me to find someone, you've got to at least tell me their real name." The security guard shrugged. Seeing my tattered clothes and eccentric behavior, he found it amusing. "Brother, what exactly is going on?"
"I'm looking for someone. Do you have an internal phone line? The person is from the Jinghai Medical University School of Forensic Medicine. I really have an urgent matter!" In my desperation, the baleful aura on my body unconsciously leaked out.
The security guard shivered. He looked up at the blazing sun overhead, feeling baffled. "Alright, I'll ask around for you."
He started making calls in the guard booth. Five or six minutes later, he ran straight out holding the phone. "Brother, I found the person!"
I reached out and took the phone. Before I could even speak, an incredibly domineering female voice came through the line. "Where do I find you?"
The voice was imperious and direct, carrying a trace of unapproachable chill. I thought for a moment before replying in a low voice, "There's an alley around the corner from the school's main gate. I'm on the east side of the alley."
"See you in three minutes."
The call disconnected. As I listened to the busy dial tone on the other end, my eyes narrowed. "This person is quite interesting."
After thanking the security guard, I quietly slipped back to the west side of the alley and kept my eyes on the street to the east.
Not long after, a woman about 1.79 meters tall walked out of the school gate wearing a lab coat. She took large strides and wore a faculty ID badge. For some reason, at my very first glance, I immediately sensed there was something different about her. She exuded an icy aura, as if she were wearing a sign that said 'Strangers Keep Away'...
