Super Thrilling Live Broadcast
Chapter 69: Unreasonable Beauty
Blind Liu shook his head with a sigh. "Gao Jian, I'll be blunt. With your copper roots and rusted bones, cultivating the Dao will take a hundred times the effort of a normal person. Otherwise..."
"Otherwise what?"
"The Dao has three thousand paths to the peak. Why don't you head to the Golden Summit Temple on Nanshan to seek your fortune? If your foundation isn't meant for the Dao, maybe you'll find a turning point in Buddhism." Blind Liu was tactfully telling me a harsh truth: my aptitude was so appallingly terrible that cultivating the Dao would be a complete waste of time.
"I'll consider it." Asking me to become a monk was worse than asking for my life. Besides, in the hands of the Underworld Live Show, I figured I wouldn't last much longer anyway.
Blind Liu carefully wrapped up the talismans I was wearing and the unburned sandalwood incense around me, packing them back into his cloth bag. "No matter what you decide in the end, you can come find me anytime you have a problem."
He might be stingy, pedantic, and old-fashioned, but he was honest at heart and always operated completely above board.
After seeing Blind Liu off, I took out the Underworld Live Show Phone. "Use points to redeem. I want the Child Immortal Wine and the Detailed Explanation of Profound Truth Dao Methods."
Blind Liu had asserted that my talent was atrocious and cultivating the Dao would be an uphill battle, but I had no other choice. A new broadcast would begin in three days, and I had to learn some Daoist arts to protect myself before then.
"I still have six points left. What should I redeem?" By some strange coincidence, my eyes fell on the Red Cord of Marriage. "Three points for a wife. That's a pretty good deal."
I typed "Red Cord of Marriage" into the phone. Honestly, my actual plan was to use this red cord on some female ghost. Not because I was a pervert, but because I desperately needed strength. The Underworld Live Show forbade bringing living creatures into a broadcast, so I had no choice but to target ghosts.
It sounded like pure fantasy, but I personally felt it was definitely feasible.
After hitting send, I brought Bai Qi along and headed to the bank. This redemption had cost me more than half my net worth, so I couldn't afford any accidents.
Weaving through the bustling crowds, Bai Qi and I arrived at the entrance of Jiangcheng's largest bank forty minutes later.
Likely because it was the middle of the day, the building was packed with customers.
"Sir, we don't allow pets inside." A uniformed security guard walked over and politely stopped me.
I waved at Bai Qi, making him squat obediently by the bank's entrance. "I'm just picking something up. I'll be out in five minutes."
"Five minutes?" The guard glanced at the overcrowded lobby. "You'd better move your dog out of the way. Having him sit here will get in the way of other customers."
Unable to argue with the guard, I was just about to have Bai Qi move further away when a convertible Ferrari parked right in front of the bank. Its fiery red, streamlined body was dazzling. The door opened, and a woman even more eye-catching than the luxury car stepped out.
Golden curls cascaded over her shoulders, and her fluttering eyelashes cast glances that would drive any man crazy. Light makeup adorned her oval face, with pale eyeshadow adding a touch of allure. Her glossy red lips were wildly seductive. Every casual movement oozed a charm that made passing men stop and stare, silently cursing their own eyes for not being able to pierce deeper into her secrets.
A crimson top accentuated her flawless, pale skin, while a pale yellow miniskirt hugged her long, slender legs. Between the striking red and yellow, her tight, supple waist looked so incredibly delicate that it stirred an irresistible urge to pull her into a tight embrace.
The woman was already used to the gazes of passersby—or rather, she enjoyed the feeling of being the center of attention. "A bunch of losers."
Her full, glossy lips curled into a slight smirk. The click of her heels against the pavement echoed in the heart of every man nearby.
"Princess!" She waved behind her, and an expensive German Doberman jumped out of the sports car, obediently following her.
"S-sorry, pets are not allowed inside the bank." The security guard finally snapped out of his daze and hurried to stop her.
"Princess isn't a pet. She's much better behaved than people." The woman didn't listen to a single word and tried to barge right in.
"You can't, it's our policy." The guard swallowed hard, looking deeply troubled.
Seeing that the guard wouldn't move aside, the woman stopped. She pulled out her phone. "Do you know who I am?"
"Oh my! Miss Jiang is here. Please, come in!" A front desk clerk rushed over the moment she spotted the woman and immediately chewed out the security guard. "Do you want to lose your job? You don't even recognize Miss Jiang Fei? She's the daughter of the chairman of Jiangjin Real Estate!"
The two of them bowed subserviently. Standing at the door, Jiang Fei was already getting impatient. "Can I go in now?"
"Right this way, please."
Jiang Fei scoffed. With her natural beauty, she looked gorgeous even when she was angry. "Princess, come here."
She strode toward the VIP lane, but after taking two or three steps, the expensive Doberman named Princess still hadn't followed.
You get what you pay for. This kind of expensive breed was usually highly trained and rarely disobeyed its owner's commands.
"Princess?" She turned around to look. The Doberman was cowering on the ground in front of Bai Qi, not daring to move a muscle.
I happened to be standing at the bank entrance, and Bai Qi was right beside me.
"Bai Qi, stop messing around." This woman clearly wasn't someone to cross, and I didn't want to cause unnecessary trouble. I patted Bai Qi's head. "Don't bully that foreign dog."
Maybe I spoke a little too loudly, because Jiang Fei heard me. "What a joke. Your mangy mutt is bullying a Doberman?"
She marched over, her heels clicking, not caring at all that she was blocking the main entrance for the customers coming and going. "Princess, get up!"
The Doberman lying on the ground completely ignored her, rigidly holding its position.
"Princess, get up right now!" Jiang Fei had a terrible temper. Even after she repeated the command three times, the Doberman didn't react. She flushed with anger, clenching her hands.
"Bai Qi, that's enough playing around." My tone was stern. Bai Qi shook his head, let out a strange bark, and trotted over to the shade outside the bank. Only then did the Doberman dare to climb to its feet, trembling.
"Sorry about that. My dog has a weird temper." I hadn't meant to stir up trouble, and I was telling the truth, but when had the eldest daughter of the Jiang family ever suffered such an indignity?
She glared at me. "You're just a guy acting fierce on your dog's power!"
I might not like causing trouble, but that didn't mean I was afraid of it. Ever since I became an Underworld Live Show Streamer, I was arguably the most unhinged and reckless person in all of Jiangcheng.
"Miss, the idiom is 'a dog acting fierce on its master's power.' It describes those who are useless themselves and only know how to throw their weight around relying on their family's wealth."
"Who are you calling a dog?!" Her voice pitched up sharply. She had a unique sort of charm when she was furious.
"Who do you think?"
We were both blocking the bank's main entrance. A moment later, the lobby manager jogged over. "Isn't this Miss Jiang and..."
I held up the Underworld Live Show's Black Card and waved it in front of my chest. The manager didn't dare say another word. "You two are both VIPs. Let's head inside first. We can talk things out slowly."
Neither of us took a number; the manager led us straight into the VIP room.
"Please wait a moment, you two. I'll get someone to handle your requests right away."
After the manager left, Jiang Fei and I sat on the sofas, facing each other.
The woman caught me looking at her and put on a sultry gaze. "Do you like what you see?"
I wasn't some naive, inexperienced kid. The moment she spoke, I knew exactly what game she was playing. "You're pretty enough, but there's a problem with your physiognomy. Your brow is narrow, your chin is too sharp, your ears protrude, and your teeth recede. It's the textbook face of an arrogant brat."
"You!" Any woman would care about her looks, and Jiang Fei's greatest source of pride was exactly her appearance. "In all my life, you're the first person who has ever dared to say that to me!"
"That's just because you didn't meet me sooner."
I didn't have a good impression of the Jiang family to begin with. In just a few words, I had this woman grinding her teeth in anger.
The manager was wiping cold sweat outside. Once the staff finally came in, she quickly ordered, "Hurry up and process the requests for our two VIPs."
After the staff came in, another problem arose.
"Manager, who should I serve first..."
Jiang Fei stomped her high heels and stood up from the sofa. "Ladies first. Handle mine first."
She didn't want to spend another second in the same room as me, but I wasn't someone to be trifled with. "First come, first served. You handle my business first."
"Handle mine first!" The woman was infuriated, gnashing her teeth.
I spread my hands toward the manager. "You'd better think carefully about who is more important and who to serve first."
The manager's face scrunched up like a bitter melon. "Please wait a moment, you two. I'll make a call to the main branch."
Thirty seconds later, the manager hung up the phone and respectfully walked over to me. "Mr. Gao, please follow us to the basement. Your business is our top priority!"
