Super Thrilling Live Broadcast
Chapter 106: What Exactly Did You Do Last Night?
Once Song Xiaofeng finished venting, I crawled over to the black magician's corpse. His eyes were wide open in an unyielding stare. He probably died aggrieved, having barely used a fraction of his skills before falling at the hands of a "foolish" child.
"It was destined. What goes around comes around."
I patted down the black magician's body. The man possessed superb ghost art, so he probably had good items hidden on him. I didn't belong to any orthodox sect, so I naturally didn't care about rules like that. Looting a corpse for treasure left me with zero guilt.
After searching him from top to bottom, I only found a ring of keys, a Double-Faced Buddha Head Pendant, and a Black Embroidered Cloth Bag.
Leaving aside the keys and pendant for now, I opened the Black Embroidered Cloth Bag. Inside was an eyeball shaped like a gemstone.
Peering closely at the eyeball, I saw what looked like an innocent, ignorant toddler locked deep within its pupil.
"Could this be the Little Ghost raised by the black magician?" Putting the eyeball back into the bag, I gathered my things and got up. I then retrieved the Underworld Live Show Phone from the Blood Coffin. "It's almost dawn. What are your plans?"
Tonight's events had been horrifying. Jiang Fei and Song Xiaofeng remained silent, likely still trapped by the fear of death.
I sat on the Blood Coffin and looked at them. "If possible, I hope you two can keep this a secret. What happened tonight ends here. Never mention it again."
Standing up, I walked over to Song Xiaofeng. Compared to the eldest daughter of the Jiang family, I was far more worried about this child. He was young, but he possessed a level of calmness and maturity far beyond his peers. He had acted like an idiot and even completely fooled me at first. It was only after too many coincidences piled up that I started seeing him differently. His apparent foolishness was nothing more than a disguise against the outside world. At every crucial moment, this child always made the right choice.
Earlier, when I had saved Jiang Fei and was ready to run for my life, he decisively crawled into the foul drainage ditch, changing my mind. Then there was the time he stabbed Han Le in the electrical room, or when he stayed his killing hand in front of his father.
Hatred and fear had tempered this child's mind until it was as hard as diamond. A lot of the time, I couldn't even fathom what was going through his head.
"Geniuses to the left, lunatics to the right. But whether you're a genius or a lunatic, you're ultimately just a seven- or eight-year-old child. I want you to live a carefree life like other kids your age. That's probably what your parents truly wanted to see, too." I took the sharp knife from Song Xiaofeng's hand and gently patted his shoulder. "Stick with me for now once we leave here. When I find a suitable shelter, I'll sponsor your schooling."
Song Xiaofeng shook his head, then turned and ran out of the room.
Watching his retreating back, I didn't know what else to say. I sighed and turned to my other massive problem.
"Jiang Fei, you developed special feelings for me earlier because you picked up my Red Cord of Marriage back at the bank. Fate draws people together by a single thread, but now that the red cord has snapped, you and I no longer have any ties. The effects of the talisman might not have completely faded yet. Once you go back, just rest for a few days, or chant a heart-clearing spell, and you should be fine." I didn't know how to face this woman; it was more than a little awkward. "Don't tell anyone about what happened tonight, and don't reveal my existence. Just consider that your repayment for me saving your life."
Brushing off my clothes and hiding my merit after the deed was done. Saving her was just something I did in passing. Surviving my fourth livestream was enough to leave me fully satisfied.
Jiang Fei had been frightened, but she wasn't physically hurt. The hex sorcery art had broken with the black magician's death. Right now, she merely looked a bit disheveled.
Her expensive pajamas, worth thousands, were torn to shreds. Jiang Fei walked toward me step by step. She had a fantastic, tall figure. In terms of sheer sex appeal, the models on fashion magazine covers couldn't even compare to her.
Step by step, she backed me into a corner and looked up at my face. "Why didn't you dodge earlier?"
"If I had dodged, the black magician never would have taken the bait, and Song Xiaofeng wouldn't have gotten his chance."
"If that knife had actually gone in, you could have died! Don't you hate me? Why would you care if I live or die? You clearly could have just killed him directly." This woman, who had left such a terrible first impression on me, was acting strange now. Her eyes were red, and her voice grew softer and softer.
I raised my hands but didn't know where to put them. "It's all over. Don't overthink things. From now on, we go our separate ways."
Gently pushing Jiang Fei aside by the shoulders, I walked out the door. I took out the black magician's keys and checked every ward. Finally, in the director's office, I found my jacket and the Black Leather Suitcase containing my livestream equipment.
"What a long night!"
Pushing open the front gates of Henshan Psychiatric Hospital, the air was finally clear. I stepped outside, with Jiang Fei following right behind me.
I didn't know where Song Xiaofeng went after that, but that afternoon, I saw in the newspaper that a massive fire had broken out at Henshan Psychiatric Hospital. Due to the fully enclosed structure of the building, there were no survivors. The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
The morning sun slowly rose, casting a ray of sunlight across my face.
"Ding!"

Since Jiang Fei was right beside me, I didn't check the phone right away. Instead, I escorted her back into the city first. Only after she called her family to tell them she was safe did I take a taxi and leave.
Back on Ting Tang Road, my shop door was left half open. I stumbled inside to search for bandages, only to find a little girl in the room hugging a large dog as she played.
The girl looked incredibly innocent, completely oblivious to the fact that the perverted dog in her arms was eagerly rubbing itself against her budding chest.
"Yi Yi?"
The girl looked up at the sound of her name. Taking one look at my wretched, bloody state, she leaped up from her chair in fright, stuttering, "Y-you, hurry, come to the hospital with me!"
I couldn't argue with Yi Yi, and my body was indeed incredibly weak. Grabbing some cash, I didn't even bother locking the shop door before the girl dragged me into a taxi.
At the hospital, I took off my blood-soaked jacket. I had multiple knife wounds; even the doctor couldn't bear to look at them directly.
"The wound on your palm is already infected. Fortunately, you came in early. If you had waited another day or two, both your hands would be crippled."
I was settled into a hospital ward, but it was a bit awkward to realize I hadn't brought enough cash. As someone who operated in the grey areas of society, I obviously didn't have health insurance or anything of the sort.
"How about we just head back for now?"
"Lie there and don't move. I'm going to call my aunt!" Although Yi Yi was young, when she got fierce, she bore a striking resemblance to Tie Ningxiang. Her tone left absolutely no room for argument. Looking at her puffed-up little cheeks, I swallowed back whatever I was about to say.
Not even an hour later, the ward door swung open, and a resolute female police officer marched into the room. "Gao Jian, what happened to you?"
Smelling her unique, signature fragrance, I felt my tense nerves finally relax. Waving my freshly medicated and bandaged hands at her, I offered a bitter smile. "I wanted to do some renovations in the shop, but I ended up scratching my hands."
"Scratched your hands? Do you take me for a three-year-old?" Tie Ningxiang sat beside me and pulled up my jacket without another word. The hideous knife wounds across my back looked like the grinning faces of devils.
"What exactly did you do last night?"
