Chapter 2459 - 2460: Fainting
Chapter 2459: Chapter 2460: Fainting
"Alright, since that’s the case, everyone, let’s not hesitate any longer. Hurry up and set off individually. We must achieve our goal, did you hear?"
Now everyone shares a common enemy, seething with righteous indignation. Their master was murdered, and there can be no peaceful coexistence with such a foe. They certainly won’t hesitate any longer, so without a word, everyone takes action.
Now, let’s talk about Lin Chen’s side.
At first, the pain in Lin Chen’s chest was fairly mild, not very intense. However, as time went on, she discovered that the pain grew increasingly strong. She held her chest with her hand, appearing extremely distressed as she walked down the road.
Lin Chen had been exerting all her strength to resist and endure, but she found these emotions becoming increasingly turbulent, feeling as if the power within her body was like an uncontrollable wave crashing against her chest.
After taking two steps, she finally collapsed on the ground.
After a long time, Lin Chen gradually woke up, finding herself covered with a blanket. A faint fragrance drifted through the room, with warm air permeating everywhere. She took a breath and then sat up from the bed.
Her chest no longer hurt as much as before. A moment later, the door opened. Xiao Ying stood before her, holding a bowl of porridge, seeing her awake, smiling widely as she ran over and hugged her.
"You’ve finally woken up, this is such a relief."
Lin Chen gently patted the shoulder of the little girl before her, hoping she wouldn’t be overly excited. Although she was awake now, her injuries had not yet healed.
"By the way, how did I end up here? I remember when I fainted, the place seemed quite far from here."
Lin Chen recalled the recent events and still felt as if there was an otherworldly sensation, never expecting that she had indeed defeated the legendary Zheng He.
"Here’s what happened: two hunter uncles were out hunting and happened to see you on the road, so they rescued you. By the way, how did things go on the mountain this time?"
Lin Chen intentionally showed a rather sorrowful expression, shook her head, and sighed, causing the girl beside her to become particularly tense upon hearing.
"It’s okay, even if you failed, it doesn’t matter. In my heart, you are the strongest; your skills are already impressive."
Xiao Ying kept speaking words of comfort, hoping to ease the frustration within the young man in front of her due to failure.
Lin Chen gave a slight smile, suddenly lifted her head to look at Xiao Ying in front of her.
"I was just teasing you. Do you really think I’m that useless? Let me tell you, I made those guys beg for mercy, one after another, kneeling before me."
Xiao Ying breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this, initially thinking he had lost the match.
"Since that’s the case, that’s great. To be honest, when you went up the mountain, I was really worried and afraid something would happen to you. If something really did happen, what would I do?"
Lin Chen only gave a slight smile upon hearing this, saying nothing more.
"Come on, hurry and drink this porridge. I carefully prepared it just for you."
Lin Chen glanced at the bowl of porridge in her hand, smelled its strong aroma, so she took it, indeed feeling a bit hungry, and without a word, tasted it.
Lin Chen fed a spoonful of porridge into her mouth, exerting quite an effort before finally swallowing it. She had to admit the porridge’s taste was truly remarkable.
Xiao Ying noticed that Lin Chen’s facial expression seemed a bit off, so she curiously touched her head, wondering if it was because the porridge she boiled wasn’t good?
"What’s wrong, Lin Chen? Is it because the porridge I just fed you doesn’t taste good?"
Upon hearing this, Lin Chen showed a slight bitter smile, even though the porridge indeed didn’t taste great, but considering it was the girl’s heartfelt gesture, she couldn’t bear to let her down.
"Honestly, I’ve never tasted such delicious porridge before; its flavor is extraordinary, truly tasty." Lin Chen said.
The girl jumped in joy upon hearing this, looking particularly happy, and continuously encouraged herself to keep improving.
"You said it, so since you agreed, you absolutely can’t take it back. I’ll keep making porridge for you often."
Lin Chen forced a smile while imagining having to drink such porridge every day, feeling as though living in hell, but she couldn’t say much more.
"Really? That’s wonderful." Lin Chen said with a bitter smile.
After saying this, the girl left the room and returned shortly with several dishes, placing them on the table, hoping Lin Chen would taste them.
Looking at the dishes on the table, Lin Chen found the aroma indeed rich and the colors quite appealing, though he couldn’t say how they actually tasted. They seemed to be similar to the previous ones, without much difference.
If so, it might as well be better for someone to just kill me.
"Go on, eat quickly! I think the taste of these dishes is even better than before. Come over and taste them. I’m sure you’ll feel particularly delighted."
Lin Chen slowly got out of bed, feeling his legs trembling, swallowed his saliva, and then walked towards the table.
Lin Chen reached out, picked up a dish from the table, tasted it, and showed a pure expression, as if he had tasted something incredibly delicious.
The girl, quite innocent herself, saw Lin Chen so absorbed and assumed her dishes were indeed very tasty, showing a hint of happiness and joy in her eyes.
"How is it? Are my dishes really delicious? Have you never tasted such delightful meals before?"
Upon hearing this, Lin Chen felt somewhat like crying, swallowed his saliva, and didn’t know what more to say.
"Your dishes are indeed marvelous. I never imagined this world could have such exquisite meals." Lin Chen said.
Lin Chen thought carefully and found that perhaps the only way was to use such methods to help her alleviate the sadness caused by missing her father.
If one can shift focus, it’s certainly a good thing.
