Super Soldier in the City
Chapter 2791 - 2853: Saved Once Again
Wu Shuwei walked down slowly in slippers. When their eyes met, Wu Shuwei quickly looked away. Her face being like this, she couldn’t wash it, so she spent the time adjusting her emotions.
This afternoon, she was still full of confidence, but now waking up and realizing she’s been saved by Li Yifei again, Wu Shuwei’s heart was in chaos again. Of course, she was already somewhat indecisive, and now she’s even more so.
Li Yifei smiled lightly and said, "No need to worry. It doesn’t affect your beauty. I adjusted your body a bit. You shouldn’t have an allergic reaction again."
"Okay!" Wu Shuwei nodded softly. She tightened her clothing after stepping down the last stair and slowly sat down on a single sofa next to her.
"The food will arrive soon. I forgot to ask earlier what you wanted to eat, so I just ordered something casually. Eat more of what you like, and eat less of what you don’t. You’ve just recovered, your body needs nutrition," Li Yifei said patiently.
There’s still warmth in Wu Shuwei’s heart, considering how she had treated him, yet he still treated her so well. Her thoughts were a bit jumbled.
This silence lasted until the food arrived. Li Yifei ordered a bottle of white spirit, naturally not pouring any for Wu Shuwei, just grabbed a glass and began drinking by himself.
The TV was on, and the two seemed to be living a domestic life: after work, fry two dishes, you eat your food, I watch my TV; chat if we have something to say, and if not, it isn’t awkward.
This feeling made Wu Shuwei find it beautiful, a simple happiness with occasional mutual smiles. Oh, who wants to exchange smiles with him? Wu Shuwei thought, quickly recollecting her emotions.
However, Li Yifei was already accustomed to her changing emotions and had come to terms with it: let things be as they are; no need to concern himself with everything. If she were in danger again, Li Yifei would undoubtedly save her without hesitation. There is no doubt about that. But if they couldn’t be together, so be it.
After the meal, Li Yifei rubbed his stomach contentedly. If there’s a most blissful moment in a day, it is undoubtedly when fully satiated. He burped twice, cleared off the coffee table, packed up the leftovers, and took them out to a nearby trash bin.
When he returned, Wu Shuwei was still sitting on the sofa, seemingly watching TV, but her attention was on Li Yifei: he went to take out the trash, went to wash his hands, walked back, picked up his phone, and left again. What was he doing?
Wu Shuwei quickly realized that Li Yifei had gone to his room, the room downstairs. The door shut softly, and her heart dropped. Could it be that she had gone too far, and hurt his feelings? If so, should she apologize?
Obviously, Wu Shuwei realized she might have overreacted and felt uneasy. Amidst her hesitation, she found herself unknowingly ascending the stairs, only to see the bedroom door smashed and lying on the floor.
Yes, he’s still him, the person who smiles like a shrewd businessman. Her actions today seemed off. Looking at the broken door, Wu Shuwei suddenly came to her senses, turned around, and hurried downstairs.
"Knock, knock, knock." The sound made Li Yifei, who was just about to video chat with his wives, pause, "Come in."
Wu Shuwei pushed the door open and came in. Looking at Li Yifei, this room was indeed small, even more than half the size of her bedroom. Li Yifei’s luggage beside the cabinet made the space even smaller.
"I’m sorry," Wu Shuwei said softly.
"Hmm?" Li Yifei sat up and looked at her, surprised she would say that. Just as he was about to speak, Wu Shuwei continued, "Thank you for saving me again."
"What’s gotten into you, saying sorry and thank you," Li Yifei couldn’t help but say.
Wu Shuwei’s eyebrows twitched, and her breath quickened for a moment but she quickly regained her composure, speaking in the same tone, "You know what I mean."
"Have a seat. There’s no chair here; sit on this side," Li Yifei said, moving aside. "Honestly, it’s nothing. We’ve known each other for so long; I understand your personality. It’s normal. Don’t dwell on it."
The more he spoke like this, the more unsettled Wu Shuwei felt. What did he mean by normal? It wasn’t normal at all, but of course, if she said that, Li Yifei would likely respond by pointing out that if she realized it wasn’t normal, she should change.
"What have you been up to lately?" Wu Shuwei asked, finally voicing her doubt.
Li Yifei put down his phone and smiled, "Just been busying myself. Flying Hawk Squad had some issues, and I went to deal with them. Even before that, I wasn’t idle. Maybe this is the rare bit of free time I’ve had."
Wu Shuwei nodded slightly, saying, "Can you tell me about it?"
"Do you want to hear?" Li Yifei said.
Wu Shuwei nodded again, Li Yifei chuckled and said, "Alright, then let’s talk."
In the next ten minutes or so, Li Yifei recounted what he had been doing over the past six months. Of course, he couldn’t go into detail, but he gave a general overview, and Wu Shuwei finally understood that Li Yifei had indeed been quite busy and wasn’t intentionally ignoring her. With this realization, the knot in her heart unraveled, and she felt much happier.
"What about you?" After he finished speaking, Li Yifei asked.
Wu Shuwei smiled. This was the first genuine smile from her heart since they met, and it was beautiful, truly beautiful. The proximity made Li Yifei a little dazzled. He heard her say, "After what happened last time, I’ve been taking a break until now. A few days ago, I decided to find a place to recharge. I happened to know there was a class starting here, so I signed up. Didn’t expect to run into you."
"Mengxin enrolled me, saying I should also come to learn. If there’s a surprise, it was meeting you."
"Why?"
Was she asking why he said that or why he came to study? Li Yifei chose the former, so he responded, "Because of fate, we’re brought together once again!"
Wu Shuwei’s heart unsteadily skipped a few beats, clearly stirred by this phrase that wasn’t quite a love confession. Her response was to glare at Li Yifei and say, "Don’t talk nonsense. Even though you saved me again, it doesn’t mean you can talk carelessly."
"Of course not, haha. So now you know why I didn’t contact you. Sometimes it’s not that I don’t want to, but after thinking about it, either the time is not right or the situation is wrong, and it just gets pushed aside," Li Yifei said.
Wu Shuwei responded with an ’hmm,’ about to say something when a commotion was heard outside. Evidently, some students had drunk and were noisily passing by.
"It’s getting late; I’m going to rest," Wu Shuwei said.
"Alright, make sure not to scratch the blisters, or they might leave scars," Li Yifei cautioned.
Speaking of the blisters, Wu Shuwei furrowed her brows. Li Yifei asked, "What’s wrong?"
"My door... you broke it," Wu Shuwei said.
Li Yifei exclaimed, "The door... there’s no way to fix it now, and we can’t call the management, or they’ll wonder what’s going on. How about this, I’ll have some time to go to the hardware store the day after tomorrow and buy some parts to see if I can fix it."
"What about tonight?" Wu Shuwei asked with a bit of resentment. The knot in her heart had unraveled, and although she wasn’t going to lock the door, not having any door made her feel uneasy about sleeping.
"Stay on the opposite side for a night, those two rooms upstairs are yours anyway," Li Yifei said.
"No way, you go upstairs to sleep. This bedroom is too small, not suitable!" Wu Shuwei immediately shook her head.
Li Yifei laughed, "What’s suitable or not suitable? It’s just me; this bed is big enough, even for another person!"
Even for another person, Wu Shuwei felt flustered for a moment and stood up, saying, "Alright then, I’ll go sleep upstairs. You... goodnight."
In the house, it was just the two of them. When Li Yifei mentioned there was space for another, wasn’t he hinting at her staying there too? Although they had slept together numerous times, that was in the past and out of necessity; how could they sleep together now?
Upstairs, Wu Shuwei touched her flushed cheeks, recalling when they used to sleep together. It did make her feel incredibly warm, a kind of feeling of complete peace of mind without worrying about anything.
It’s a pity that he’s such a playboy. Even though Wu Shuwei understood Li Yifei had been busy, she still couldn’t let it go. Could he have been too busy to spare a few words with her?
Hmph, he just doesn’t have me in his heart, so he didn’t contact me. With that thought, Wu Shuwei stomped her foot, entered the bedroom, brushed her teeth, washed her face, and took her quilt to the opposite bedroom, only to find it spacious as well. Thinking about how she had two of the best rooms to herself while Li Yifei curled up in the small room downstairs, a big boss worth tens of billions was forced to such a pitiful situation by her, Wu Shuwei couldn’t help but laugh.
Her emotions went up and down several times; she hadn’t even counted how many times her mood changed today. But overall, as she fell asleep, she was in a pretty good mood. Going out to study and running into Li Yifei really was fate, and multiple chance encounters—if this isn’t fate, then what is?
Wu Shuwei had a little insomnia, not too serious. She tossed and turned in the dark for half an hour before falling asleep. After falling asleep, Wu Shuwei had a long dream. In the dream, she and a strong, not so handsome but very manly man were passionately entwined. That man, needless to say, must have been Li Yifei. In fact, over the years, Wu Shuwei hadn’t had many dreams like this. Apart from blurry figures, this was the most vivid one. Dreaming of Li Yifei was simply amazing, with several encounters happening in the dream, feeling so real, and in the end, the two loved each other dearly. On a wonderful night, Wu Shuwei gave herself to Li Yifei, becoming one with him...
