Chapter 1386 - 1389: Confrontation (Fourth Update)

"Heh... So you just assume I was the one who hit first?" Lin Feng smirked and stared at the staff member, asking in a deep voice, "Just because this old hag told you I deliberately targeted her, you believed it?"

"Bastard, who are you calling an old hag!" Liu Yu glared at Lin Feng and cursed angrily.

The airport security personnel seemed at a loss facing the suddenly agitated Liu Yu. It was only then that he realized Liu Yu wasn’t an easy person to deal with either, making the situation seem somewhat difficult to handle.

Fortunately, professional officers from the airport police soon arrived on the scene. After checking Henry’s injuries and finding out he was only knocked out of breath without serious harm, they brought Lin Feng and some others back to the police room for questioning.

The security personnel who had previously questioned Liu Yu handed his recorder directly to the airport officers and returned to his duties.

In the police room, Lin Feng and Lu Lu sat on one side of the sofa. On the other side, Henry, pale-faced but out of danger, sat next to Liu Yu, whom seemed to have lost face, nagging about his uselessness.

Soon, a police officer dressed in white came out of the police room, introducing himself to Lin Feng, Liu Yu, and others, "Hello everyone, I am Chief Inspector Lin Zuodong from the special response team at Harbor City International Airport, in charge of mediating your conflict. I hope everyone can give me some respect and work towards resolving the conflict quickly to avoid wasting your precious time."

Upon hearing Lin Zuodong speak Mandarin, Liu Yu rolled her eyes instantly and said in Harbor City Cantonese, very cheekily, "Sir Lin, what are you saying? I don’t understand!"

Lin Zuodong’s expression did not change. His eyes just subtly swept across Liu Yu, his mouth curving into a cold and meaningful smile.

"Since this young lady spoke first, let’s start with you. Could you please describe the incident in front of everyone..." Lin Zuodong gestured to Liu Yu, indicating for her to speak.

This time, Liu Yu could understand Lin Zuodong’s Mandarin, yet she still used Harbor City Cantonese to repeat her account to the airport security personnel, insisting that it was Lin Feng who harbored a past grievance against her and attacked her boyfriend unprovoked when he saw them passing by.

Lin Zuodong listened gentlemanly to Liu Yu’s account and then translated her words into Mandarin, explaining it to Lin Feng and Lu Lu. Finally, he asked, "Could I ask whether Ms. Liu’s account is factual?"

"Of course, it’s not the truth... They were the ones who provoked first, and now they dare to shirk responsibility, that’s laughable! Lin Feng was at most legally defending himself!" Lu Lu spoke up on behalf of Lin Feng before he could say anything.

However, Liu Yu didn’t care about Lu Lu’s testimony. She believed that the Harbor City police would surely support her as a local. Moreover, she hadn’t yet revealed her identity as Liu Changqing’s niece; otherwise, the police would only worship her!

Lin Feng, however, paid no mind to Liu Yu’s intentions. He simply shrugged, indicating that what Lu Lu said was indeed the truth, without bothering to explain.

"Tsk, this guy must know it’s pointless to explain and has already given up on it!" Liu Yu thought smugly as she coldly watched Lin Feng.

"Well, if that’s the case... then you two can leave first!" Lin Zuodong smiled at Lin Feng and Lu Lu, gesturing with his hand that they could go.

Lin Feng wasn’t surprised by this result. He believed that the Harbor City police wouldn’t be foolish, especially in this age of surveillance cameras.

"What? Are you mistaken, how could you let them leave first, are you out of your mind?" Liu Yu exploded upon hearing Lin Zuodong letting someone leave, thinking it was her and Henry being let go, only to discover it was Lin Feng and Lu Lu being allowed to leave first.

"Please mind your language, Miss Liu!" Lin Zuodong turned to glance at Liu Yu with a stern expression, saying seriously, "I now suspect you of malicious provocation and attempting to make false accusations against others. You have the right to remain silent, but anything you say next could become evidence. So, please show some respect, Miss Liu!"

Liu Yu felt her mind go blank; she hadn’t expected Lin Zuodong to say such things...

"I didn’t maliciously provoke nor make false accusations, you must be mistaken!" Liu Yu stared at Lin Zuodong, shrieking, "Don’t you dare heap charges on me, don’t you know who I am? If you mess up, I’ll have my uncle complain to your superior!"

"I don’t need Miss Liu to remind me whether I’m mistaken!" Lin Zuodong glanced at Liu Yu mockingly, speaking in a calm tone, "Don’t doubt that I know you’re Liu Changqing’s niece from Liu Corporation. My accusation against you is based on professional judgment using existing evidence. Does Miss Liu wish to confront me directly?"

"Confront then, I’m not afraid of you!" Liu Yu glared at Lin Zuodong, speaking in a deep voice.

Lin Feng and Lu Lu witnessed this scene, not in a rush to leave, instead wanting to see how Lin Zuodong would confront Liu Yu.

"Did Miss Liu mention earlier that Mr. Lin is an acquaintance of yours?" Lin Zuodong smiled while asking a seemingly normal question.

"Yes!" Liu Yu answered directly without thinking, her eyes showing a challenging look as if despising Lin Zuodong for asking such a dumb question.

"Didn’t Miss Liu say earlier that you didn’t understand Mandarin? So why are you speaking so fluently now?" Lin Zuodong’s face revealed a sly smile. All the words he just spoke to Liu Yu were in Mandarin, and Liu Yu unknowingly replied to him naturally in Mandarin...

"I..." Liu Yu’s facial expression stiffened; she hadn’t anticipated that she would inadvertently let something slip. In Harbor City’s court, the honesty level of every witness and party involved is heavily scrutinized; if she was found lying, it would be very disadvantageous...

Therefore, Liu Yu instinctively defended, "I was just joking with you, Sir Lin, surely you wouldn’t take that seriously!"
