Chapter 1490: Not Safe to Stay Long

  • Next Chapter

Elder Xu hung up the phone and didn’t ask further questions. He had been in his position for many years, understood what discipline meant, and knew what should and shouldn’t be asked. So since the boss said that Xu Ying was safe, it meant everything was under the boss’s control, so he didn’t inquire further.

Jiang Cheng suddenly received a call from the boss. Jiang Cheng answered the phone and thanked the boss, saying it allowed his company to reopen. Jiang Cheng indeed had to thank this dedicated public servant.

“Jiang Cheng, can you accompany me for a walk in the park? You won’t refuse, right?”

“Of course. Should I pick you up, or directly go to the park?” “I’m already at the park. Come over.”

Jiang Cheng hung up the phone, put on his jacket, picked up his car keys, and went straight out the door, got in the car, started it, and drove directly to the park.

“Jiang Cheng, you know the reason I called you. My determination won’t change. I still hope you can join the team; your ability and awareness are important. I need my team to learn your skills, which is also for the long-term stability and peace of the region.” The boss said solemnly, with his hands behind his back, using his keen and spirited gaze.

Jiang Cheng thought for a while and then said, “Your perseverance indeed impresses me, but I’m truly not interested in your army.”

“How about this? Just participate in one mission, and I’ll give you the video of Xu Ying hoping you will agree.”

Jiang Cheng looked at the boss’s furrowed brows, and his weary face marked by years, finally nodded, saying, “Alright!”

The boss was very pleased and handed Jiang Cheng a USB drive. “Here’s the video of Xu Ying. Take a look yourself; I don’t need to say more.”

Jiang Cheng took the USB drive and said, “Yes, I’ll rescue Xu Ying and fulfill my promise, rest assured.” After speaking, Jiang Cheng got directly into the car, connected the USB drive. Jiang Cheng discovered that Xu Ying ran out of a store, followed by Liu Yu. After a brief struggle, Xu Ying confronted Liu Yu, both entering a building. It was an abandoned cement factory, and Xu Ying was inside. “Damn!” Jiang Cheng cursed casually because the person who chased after him that day was Liu Yu. He actually did such a thing, which Jiang Cheng found extremely disgusting. Jiang Cheng started the car, headed toward the cement factory, which was in the outskirts, 20 kilometers away, and drove at a speed of 120, swiftly heading to the destination.

When the car was five kilometers away, Jiang Cheng parked by the roadside, tidied his clothes. He found sportswear in the trunk, changed into it, then ran toward the cement factory. He walked because he didn’t want to alert the enemy.

Jiang Cheng ran quickly, the cement factory appearing in front of him. Jiang Cheng had memorized the layout from the USB drive, and Xu Ying’s location and the room configuration were clear, unless there were changes, he would adapt to the situation.

Jiang Cheng quickly moved to the back wall. Since the wall was high, it wasn’t equipped with surveillance cameras, while other areas had them. Entering from here ensured he wouldn’t be detected.

Jiang Cheng knew that the whole cement factory and office buildings were under camera surveillance, and a monitoring room was watched by Anmu’s guards.

Jiang Cheng paused, then rushed toward the wall. Once to the wall, he entered, landed steadily on the ground, looked around, ensuring his safety.

From the video earlier, he had confirmed all camera positions and decided on a route. It was a camera blind spot. Jiang Cheng crouched low and dashed forward, even so, he tread lightly making no sound.

Jiang Cheng moved like a formation, sometimes left, sometimes right, alternating his advance. Shortly, he arrived at the door knowing there were two guards he must incapacitate swiftly, otherwise, he would alert upstairs guards, endangering Xu Ying’s life.

He leaned against the wall, breathing slowly, calming his intense exhaustion. Now breathing heavily, he needed deep breaths to calm down.

Then Jiang Cheng took a rope from his pouch, slowly scraped against the wall approaching the door. Closer now, he could feel the breath of the two guards at the door.

The guards at the door, unaware death approached slowly, were watching colorful content on their phones, drool trickling from their mouths.

Suddenly Jiang Cheng leapt, chopping his hands onto their necks. They promptly fainted, bodies slumped, and Jiang Cheng caught them, gently laying them on the ground, ensuring no noise. Finally, he tied their hands and feet because Jiang Cheng knew this fainting lasted only five minutes.

Jiang Cheng then proceeded to the second floor. The corridor was empty; he continued upward, aware Xu Ying was in the middle room on the third floor.

Reaching the third-floor entrance, he heard footsteps approaching. Jiang Cheng quickly crouched, took out his phone, placed it on the ground, slowly retreating. He saw clearly a burly guard approaching.

Jiang Cheng collected his phone, leaned against the wall, waiting for the guard’s arrival. Steps nearing, Jiang Cheng adhered tightly against the wall, immobile.

The moment the guard appeared at the corner, Jiang Cheng sprang, moving like a serpent. One hand covering the guard’s mouth, the other slashing the neck; this guard too silently dropped to the ground.

Jiang Cheng knew he had to rush inside promptly, thus didn’t bind this guard. He swiftly ran toward the middle room. Arriving at the door, inside was quiet, completely silent.

He knew inside definitely were two guards; he approached quietly, stood up, saw two guards behind the door also playing on their phones.

Jiang Cheng grinned viciously, he cursed these fools, couldn’t even stand properly. If he kicked open the door, both idiots would be hit by the door.

Jiang Cheng took a deep breath, then kicked open the door, rolling inside. Both indeed got hit by the door, collapsing on the ground. Jiang Cheng’s significant noise alerted the guards in the monitoring room, hence he had to rescue Xu Ying swiftly.

He rolled across the floor, stopping beside Xu Ying, tied to a chair. As he stood, a knife appeared in his hand, cutting the rope: “Xu Ying, how are you? Can you walk?”

Xu Ying, seeing him close, was thrilled: “I can.” With that, she stood up, eyes gleaming with pride. Jiang Cheng gave her a curious glance, opened his mouth, but said nothing.

“Let’s leave quickly, it’s not safe here.” Jiang Cheng said, taking Xu Ying out the door, directly heading downstairs, out the entrance. The two guards remained unconscious.

Running for a while, they reached the car. Xu Ying got in, Jiang Cheng started the car, swiftly leaving towards the region.

“Thank you for rescuing me,” Xu Ying said excitedly. Seeing Jiang Cheng, her heart trembled; even if someone else saved her, she wouldn’t be happy. Only she knew, she’d been waiting for this person all along.
